For the BlackBerry 7100i from Nextel
From Other Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) and Personal Information Managers (PIMs)
The user specific information in the Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and Memo applications found in most PDA s and PIMs can be transferred by:
1 If a PDA is used, connect it to the computer. 2 Synchronize and backup the old PDA with the PIM that is being used. 3 Disconnect the old handheld and connect the 7100i to the computer by using its USB cable. 4 Access the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. 5 Select and double click Intellisync. 6 In the Configuration dialogue box, select Configure PIM 7 In the Tasks dialogue box, Click Choose. 8 In the Available Application dialogue box, select the PIM that is currently being used. 9 In the Operation dialogue box, select Synchronize. 10 Click OK. 11 At the Handheld Application screen, check and select Address Book. 12 Click Configure and select the desired settings. 13 Optional: When completed, repeat steps 10 and 11 for Calendar, MemoPad and Tasks if they are to be
transferred/synched . 14 Click OK. 15 At the Intellisync main window, check Synchronize PIM in the Synchronize Now dialogue box. 16 Click on Synchronize Now button to transfer contacts from the desktop PIM to the BlackBerry device.

BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) Users
1 Ensure the old device has been recently synched.
Note: When using the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, the unit is continuously synched and back-up automatically
2 Activate the new 7100i on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (Contact the BlackBerry Enterprise Server
Administrator for instructions).
Note: The PIN is automatically installed/updated in the BES during Activation
3 For reloading any previously used applications added to the old device, contact the application’s provider to
ensure compatibility with the new 7100i and the ability to reload the application. If the application is
compatible, reload by using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
Download the application by following the application provider’s instructions.
Using the USB cable, connect the device to the computer.
Double click the BlackBerry Desktop Manager icon (usually found on the computer’s desktop) to open the program.
Double click on the Application Loader icon.
Follow the instructions provided by the Application Loader Wizard.
Non BES Users
1 Synch the old BlackBerry device to the desktop by using Intellisync in the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
Using the USB cable, connect the device to computer.
Double click the BlackBerry Desktop Manager icon (usually found on the computer’s Desktop) to open the program.
Double click on the Intellisync icon.
Select the desired options in the Synchronize Now dialogue box.
Click on the Synchronize Now button.
2 When synchronization is complete, backup the old device by using the Backup and Restore function in
BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
At the main screen of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, double click on the Backup and Restore icon.
Select the Backup option.
3 Use the Restore function on the BlackBerry Desktop to transfer the old device’s customized databases to the
7100i
Detach the old device and attach the 7100i to the computer.
At the main screen of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, double click on the Backup and Restore icon.
Select the Restore option.
4 When the Restore operation is complete, synch the new 7100i to the desktop by using the Intellisync function
of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
At the main screen of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, double click on the Intellisync icon.
Select the Intellisync option.
Select Synchronize PIM in the Synchronize Now dialogue box.

6 For customers using the BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS), install/update the new 7100i’s PIN on their BIS
profile (via www.Sprint.com) in order to direct email to the new unit.
Installing/Updating a PIN in a BIS Profile
Access Go to Sprint.com .
Click On Wireless.
Under Nextel, click on Services and Features.
Click on BlackBerry Solutions.
Select and log in to BlackBerry Internet Email Service.
Select Profile.
Select Change Handheld.
Complete the PIN and IMEI information boxes.
To find the PIN and IMEI, select Options from the new device’s home page.
Select Status.
Type the PIN and IMEI from the new device into the BlackBerry Web Client.
Click Submit.
From Motorola Devices:
The 7100i has the ability to read and transfer contacts between a 64 SIM card and its resident Address B ook. Although this functionality does not exist for non 64K SIM cards, contacts can be transferred/copied from Motorola manufactured phones via the use of the AddressBook on MyNextel or by a SIM card copier device. The procedures for transferring contacts to and from 64K and non 64K SIM cards are described below.
64K SIM Cards - SIM Card Phone Book Transfer
To consolidate SIM Card phonebook and the BlackBerry Address Book:
1 Ensure the SIM card from the old unit is a 64K SIM card. 2 Replace the new SIM card in the 7100i with the old SIM card from the old handset. 3 Copy SIM card contact(s) to BlackBerry Address Book by using the 7100i’s Address Book functionality, which
is located on the home screen.
To copy a single contact:
Push the device’s trackwheel to select the Address Book icon from the home screen.
Push the trackwheel again to access Address Book’s menu options.
Select SIM Phone Book.
Highlight the contact to copy.
Select Add to Address Book.
Note: If any of the selected contact’s telecommunication information (phone, mobile, fax, etc.) is already in the BlackBerry
Address Book, the user will not be presented with the option to “Add to Address Book

To copy all contacts:
Push the device’s trackwheel to select the Address Book icon from the home screen
Push the trackwheel again to access Address Book’s menu options
Select SIM Phone Book.
Select Copy All to Address Book.
Note: SIM Card contacts with telecommunication information (phone, mobile, fax, etc.), which already exists in the BlackBerry
Address Book, will not be copied to Address Book.
4 Remove the old SIM card from the 7100i and replace with the original new SIM Card. 5 Call Customer Care to activate phone and data services.
To keep the contacts lists from the old SIM card (SIM Card Phonebook) and the BlackBerry AddressBook separate:
1 Replace the new SIM card in the 7100i with the 64K SIM card from the old handset. 2 Read/access contacts from old device by using the 7100i’s Address Book functionality which is located on the
home screen.
To access the SIM card contacts:
Push the device’s trackwheel to select the Address Book icon from the home screen.
Push the trackwheel again to access Address Book’s menu options.
Select SIM Phone Book.
Call Customer Care to swap and activate phone and data services.
Non 64K SIM Cards
Option 1: Via MyNextel
1 Register With Nextel
From nextel.com on your PC, click Register with Nextel.
Complete the Member Information and Phone Information. Account Information may be skipped u nless you require
Administrator access.
Complete the registration process by clicking on the link contained in your confirmation email.
2 Login To Address Book
From the MyNextel tab on nextel.com, click Address Book.
Enter your Member Name and Password and click Login.
Follow the instructions to Login to Address Book on your phone. When complete, return to your PC and click the link
to access Address Book.
Ensure your phone model is displayed correctly on the upper right corner. If not, click the li nk to update your phone model.
3 Transferring Phonebook Entries Between Your Phone And Web
From the Address Book main page on your PC, click the Phonebook tab.
Click Receive from the sub-navigation bar then click the Receive button.
You will receive notification of the transfer on your phone. To authorize the transfer of Phonebook entries from your
phone to the Web Address Book, press under GOTO.
On your phone, a verification message displays: Send Phonebook changes to the Web Address Book? Press under OK
4 Export contacts from My AddressBook @ My Nextel to a BlackBerry formatted file.

From the Address Book main page, click Import / Export tab.
Select the Export To destination file.
Click Continue.
If prompted, select Overwrite Current Contacts or Add Onto Current Contacts. Otherwise, skip to step 6
Click Continue.
The Import a File page appears. Select the type of file you want to import from the Import From drop-down list.
Depending on the export type, the wizard will guide you through the rest of the export process. See your Nextel Online User’s Guide for more information on import and export file types.
5 Import Contacts To Blackberry Unit
Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
Double click on the Intellisync icon to open.
Click the Configure PIM button. The Device Configuration window will open.
Highlight the Address Book application from the list in the left window and Click the Choose button.
From the Available Translators list select ASCII Importer/Exporter.
Select the Import radio button under Operation options.
Click Browse to find export file containing Address Book information.
Click OK on the Choose Translator window.
On the Device Configuration window select the Configure dropdown and choose Advanced Settings.
Click Field Mappings.
Scroll to the bottom of the field list so that the Direct Connect field is visible under the Device column.
In the right hand column drag the User Defined 4 export field down to be across from Direct Connect. There should
be a two-way arrow between Direct Connect and User Defined 4. This denotes that Direct Connect numbers on the phone will be captured in the output under the User Defined 4 heading.
Click OK on the Field Mappings for Address Book window.
Click OK on the Advanced Settings for Address Book window.
Click OK on the Device Configuration window.
Click Synchronize Now on the Intellisync window.

BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) Users

From Motorola Devices:
The 7520 has the ability to read and transfer contacts between a 32 SIM card and its resident Addre s s Book. Although this functionality does not exist for non 32K SIM cards, contacts can be transferred/copied from Motorola manufactured phones via the use of the AddressBook on MyNextel or by a SIM card copier device. The procedures for transferring contacts to and from 32K and non 32K SIM cards are described below.
32K SIM Cards - SIM Card Phone Book Transfer
To consolidate old SIM Card phonebook and the BlackBerry Address Book:
1 Ensure SIM card from old unit is a 64K SIM card. 2 Replace the new SIM card in the 7520 with the old SIM card from the old handset. 3 Copy SIM card contact(s) to BlackBerry Address Book by using the 7520’s Address Book functionality, which
is located on home screen.
To copy a single contact:
Push the device’s trackwheel to select the Address Book icon from the home screen.
Push the trackwheel again to access Address Book’s menu options.
Select SIM Phone Book.
Highlight the contact to copy.
Select Add to Address Book.
Note: If any of the selected contact’s telecommunication information (phone, mobile, fax, etc.) is already in the BlackBerry
Address Book, the user will not be presented with the option to “add to Address Book

From Sprint.com on your PC, click Register with Sprint.
Complete the Member Information and Phone Information. Account Information may be skipped u nless you require
Administrator access.
Complete the registration process by clicking on the link contained in your confirmation email.
2 Login To Address Book
From the MyNextel tab on Sprint.com, click Address Book.
Enter your Member Name and Password and click Login.
Follow the instructions to Login to Address Book on your phone. When complete, return to your PC and click the link
to access Address Book.
Ensure your phone model is displayed correctly on the upper right corner. If not, click the li nk to update your phone model.
3 Transferring phonebook entries between your phone and web
From the Address Book main page on your PC, click the Phonebook tab.
Click Receive from the sub-navigation bar then click the Receive button.
You will receive notification of the transfer on your phone. To authorize the transfer of Phonebook entries from your
phone to the Web Address Book, press under GOTO.
On your phone, a verification message displays: Send Phonebook changes to the Web Address Book? Press under OK
4 Export contacts from My AddressBook @ My Nextel to a BlackBerry formatted file
From the Address Book main page, click Import / Export tab.
Select the Export To destination file.
Click Continue.

Click the Configure PIM button. The Handheld Configuration window will open.
Highlight the Address Book application from the list in the left window and Click the Choose button.
From the Available Translators list select ASCII Importer/Exporter.

At the main screen of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, double click on the Application Loader icon.
Follow the instructions provided by the Application Loader Wizard.
6 For customers using the BlackBerry Internet Service (BIES), install/update the new 7520’s PIN on their BIES
profile (via www.Sprint.com) in order to direct email to the new unit.

Access and login to BlackBerry Internet Email Service.
Select Profile.
Select Change Handheld.
Complete the PIN and IMEI information boxes.
To find the PIN and IMEI, select Options from the new device’s home page
Select Status.
Type the PIN and IMEI from the new device into the BlackBerry Web Client.
Click Submit.

1 Register With Nextel
From Sprint.com on your PC, click Register with Sprint.
Complete the Member Information and Phone Information. Account Information may be skipped u nless you require
Administrator access.
Complete the registration process by clicking on the link contained in your confirmation email.
2 Login To Address Book
From the MyNextel tab on Sprint.com, click Address Book.
Enter your Member Name and Password and click Login.
Follow the instructions to Login to Address Book on your phone. When complete, return to your PC and click the link
to access Address Book.
Ensure your phone model is displayed correctly on the upper right corner. If not, click the li nk to update your phone model.
3 Transferring Phonebook Entries Between Your Phone And Web
From the Address Book main page on your PC, click the Phonebook tab.
Click Receive from the sub-navigation bar then click the Receive button.
You will receive notification of the transfer on your phone. To authorize the transfer of Phonebook entries from your
phone to the Web Address Book, press under GOTO.
On your phone, a verification message displays: Send Phonebook changes to the Web Address Book? Press under OK.
4 Export contacts from My AddressBook @ My Nextel to a BlackBerry formatted file. 5 From the Address Book main page, click Import / Export tab.
Select the Export To destination file.
Click Continue.
If prompted, select Overwrite Current Contacts or Add Onto Current Contacts. Otherwise, skip to step 6.
Click Continue.
The Import a File page appears. Select the type of file you want to import from the Import From drop-down list.
Depending on the export type, the wizard will guide you through the rest of the export process. See your Nextel Online User’s Guide for more information on import and export file types.

Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
Double click on the Intellisync icon to open.
Click the Configure PIM button. The Handheld Configuration window will open.
Highlight the Address Book application from the list in the left window and Click the Choose button.
From the Available Translators list select ASCII Importer/Exporter.
Select the Import radio button under Operation options.
Click Browse to find export file containing Address Book information.
Click OK on the Choose Translator window.
On the Handheld Configuration window select the Configure dropdo wn and choose Advanced Settings.
Click Field Mappings.
Scroll to the bottom of the field list so that the Direct Connect field is visible under the Handheld column.
In the right hand column drag the User Defined 4 export field down to be across from Direct Connect. There should
be a two-way arrow between Direct Connect and User Defined 4. This denotes that Direct Connect numbers on the phone will be captured in the output under the User Defined 4 heading.
Click OK on the Field Mappings for Address Book window.
Click OK on the Advanced Settings for Address Book window.
Click OK on the Handheld Configuration window
Click Synchronize Now on the Intellisync window.
