Next Generation Control - Probe Calibration (VPS) - Introduction
This procedure covers calibration and testing of the Wireless Intuitive Probing System (WIPS) for NGC machines. To calibrate, if the machine was built after April 2017 or has Software Version 100.17.000.1012 or greater, then follow the Sub-Procedure Next
Generation Control - WIPS Complete Probe Calibration. Otherwise, follow Sub-Procedures: Next Generation Control - Tool Probe Calibration and Next Generation Control - Work Probe Calibration
Next Generation Control - WIPS Complete Probe Calibration
STEP 1
This procedure applies to NGC machines built after April 2017 or NGC machines with Software Version 100.17.000.1012 or greater.
Assemble OMP40-2 probe per procedure OMP40-2 Probe - Installation and verify that the toolholder probe is within 0.0002" TIR before calibrating.
Go to [1] Edit>VPS>Probing>Calibration>Complete Probe Calibration [2]
Follow onscreen instructions to setup tools and then run Complete Probing Calibration in MDI.

Next Generation Control - Work and Tool Probe - Test
This procedure tells you how to test the spindle-mounted work probe and the table-mounted tool probe.
STEP 1
Do this step to make sure the work probe operates correctly:
Put the work probe in the spindle.
Operate this code in MDI mode:
M59 P3;
Use your finger to push on the tip on the work probe. When you push on the tip you hear a "beep" sound. This tells you that the probe is on.
You can also go to the I/O tab on the Diagnostics page. Monitor the value of the INPUT for the PROBE_SIGNAL. Use your finger to push on the tip on the tool probe.
If the probe operates correctly, the value of the INPUT for the
PROBE_SIGNAL changes.
STEP 2
Do this step to make sure the tool probe operates correctly:
Operate this code in MDI mode:
M59 P2;
G04 P1.;
M59 P3;
Use your finger to push on the tip on the table-mounted tool probe. When you push on the tip you hear a "beep" sound. This tells you that the probe is on.
You can also go to the I/O tab on the Diagnostics page. Monitor the value of the INPUT for the PROBE_SIGNAL. Use your finger to push on the tip on the tool probe.
If the probe operates correctly, the value of the INPUT for the PROBE_SIGNAL changes.
