Step #1 ° Carefully unpack the XJ-3000C

from the box. (Keep the box and all
the packing material as it is required if
you need to return the

product within

the first 90 days.)

Step #2 oOpen the front

cover of the

purifier and remove the air filter.

Step #3 o Remove the plastic covering

from the air filter.

Step #4 oCarefully tear off the perforated

cardboard covering the back side of
the air filter cartridge. (It opens like a

box of tissue.) This is the HEPA filter

side of the filter cartridge.

Step #5 o Place the air filter (with the blue side facing

out) back into the air purifier and reinstall the front
cover. (The blue side is the pre=fiiter.)

Step #6 _ Plug it in and you're ready to enjoy clean air.

Power Button

This button turns the XJ-3000C HEPA & ionic air purifier "ON". The ionizer and UV lamp are
automatically engaged when the unit is in operation.

SanitizedOzone Button

This button allows you to select the Off, Low, Medium, or High setting. Just hit the button until
the LED light next to the desired setting is lit. When there are no LED lights lit next to the
Sanitizer button, then the XJ-3000C will not produce ozone.

On low, the XJ-3000C runs in intervals of 30 seconds "On", and 3 minutes "Off". On medium,
the ozone generator runs in intervals of 3 minutes "On", and 3 minutes "Off". On the high

setting, it runs continuously, which is beneficial in situations where strong odors or heavy
pollution are present.

Fan Speed/Air Fbw

There are three fan speed options: low, medium, and high.

Optiona_ Purifier Timer

The timer can be set to 1,2, or 4 hours. _fnone of these timer settings are selected, the
XJo3000C ionic air purifier will run continuously 24/7, which is generally best_ If you are
running the ozone on a high setting in a small area while you are gone, then you may want to
use the timer so the ozone will dissipate to a natural background level before your return.

Step # i ° Open and check

In an average residential setting you only need to change
the filter once every one to two years. (If you use the

instance a commercial setting, or near a busy highway,
you will need to change it more often.) We recommend

X]-3000C in more heavily polluted environments, for
you perform the check described below every three

• months until you have a pretty good idea of the time a
filter cartridge will last in your environment.

Unplug the unit and open the front cover.
Remove the filter cartidge and inspect both sides.

o If the white (HEPA) side of the filter cartridge is dark gray in

color, you should change the filter cartridge. Proceed to the

next step.

S IP: Vaccuming the bmue pre-filter monthly will

maximize the life of the filter cartridge.

Step # 2 - Replace the cartridge

o Remove the old filter and throw it away.
o Remove the wrapping from the new filter cartridge.

o Carefuly tear off the perforated cardboard covering the back side of the air

filter cartridge. (It opens like a box of tissues.) This is the HEPA side of the

filter cartridge.
o If needed, wipe the front cover grille and the case with a damp cloth.
o Place the new filter (with the blue side facing out) in its proper position.

Step # 3 -Close the unit

Put the front cover back on, plug in the unit and begin operating. That's it. No other filter

maintenance is required.

Step #Z oPreparatory

the bulb is still working. (You may need to do this in a room where the lights are
dimmed.) NOTE: The bulb typically lasts 12-15 months.

If you determine that the bulb is not working, proceed to step #2.

Step #2 oRemove old bulb

o Unplug the unit and open the front cover. Remove the air filter cartridge.
o The ends of the bulb are held in place by two very simple plastic clamps. Gently snap their

covers open. (The one on the left snaps over to the left, the one on the right, to the right.
It won't take much force to open them.)

o Remove the expired UV lamp. Handle the UV bulb on both ends in order to avoid breaking

it.

ing bulb.

Step #3 o Insert new bulb

Press the new bulb into the UV bulb slot. The metal pins poking out each end of the bulb
should be firmly in contact with the metal conductors inside each clamp. Close the plastic

clamps over the bulb on each end.

Step #4 oFinishing up

Place the filter cartridge back in its compartment (with the blue side facing out) and put the
front cover back on. The air purifier is now ready for operation again.

Caution!

Make sure that the air filter cartridge is in place before operating the XJ-3000C air purifier, or
direct UV rays may escape through the front cover of the unit. Direct UV light can cause skin

or eye damage.

÷ Since the XJ-3000C HEPA & ionic air purifier uses a fan, and blows a strong current of

air out the top of the unit, it is not necessary to place the unit at a high elevation. It can be

placed on the floor, on a table, a countertop, or on a shelf.

÷ The back of the XJ-3000C should be at least 8 inches away from the wall to prevent

discoloration of the the wall. Also, there should not be any obstructions above the air outlet
on top of the XJ-3000C air purifier. There should be at least 2 feet of space between the
top of the air purifier and any object or surface above it.

÷ Keep the XJ-3000C at least 3 feet away from computers, televisions, and sensitive

electrical equipment.

÷ If the unit it used in a bedroom, don't place it on a nightstand, near your head as you would

not want your head in the pathway of dirty air being drawn into the purifier.

AntioBacteria preofilter

The first stage (the blue filter) of the three-stage cartridge. Captures the largest particles,
increasing the efficiency and longevity of the Carbon and HEPA filters.

Activated Carbon FiJter

Specializes in capturing chemicals, gases, odors and pollutants such as tobacco smoke,
which the HEPA filter cannot capture.

HEPA Filter

Removes 99.97% of particles (.3 microns in size) that pass through the filter, preventing them
from becoming recirculated into the air. Largely considered the most effective type of small
particle air filter. It captures a high volume of floating dust and other particles, including many
of the ionized particles that would otherwise just stick to your walls if a typical ionizer were
used. Unlike metal collection plates, they don't require complicated weekly cleaning rituals.

Germicidal UV Light

The UV (ultraviolet) bulb is located safely behind the filters, where it kills germs trapped in
the HEPA filter and in the air flowing through the unit. UV light destroys a large variety of
microbial contaminates, such as viruses, germs, bacteria and fungi (including mold). UV
light has been used for years by the medical field (including hospitals) to sanitize rooms and
equipment, in order to prevent the spread of disease. Recommended by the Centers for
Disease Control for its ability to destroy biological pollutants.

Air Ionizer

Negative ionization electostatically charges molecules which transfers their charge to other
particles on contact. Charged particles clump with oppositely charged particles making them
large and heavy enough to either be trapped in a filter or too heavy to remain suspended
in the air. This is due to the fact that ions can circulate throughout a room. Negative ion

circulation is enhanced as a result of the fan.

Programmable Ozone Generator ($anitizer Option}

The ozone generator compliments the activated carbon filter in removing odors. It also has
sanitizing properties. In the XJ-3000C, the ozone can be completely disabled if it is not

needed or wanted ,while still allowing the ionizer and filters to run at full power. Most other air

purifiers that produce ozone produce it anytime the purifier is on.

÷ Under most circumstances you can leave the ozone generator in the off position. (Ozone's

ability to break down organic compounds makes it nature's cleaning agent. You can
actually see the effect ozone has on organic material. A common example: rubber bands
exposed to the ozone that occurs in nature turn brittle over time. Like any strong cleaner,
ozone should be used in moderation.)

÷ For heavy deodorizing (such as to remove tobacco odors from clothing, fire and smoke

restoration or to attack mold) set ozone to 'high,' set the timer for an appropriate length of
time, remove all pets, shut doors, windows and vents in the room/space you intend to treat
(allowing the concentration of ozone to build up). Ozone purification is most effective in the
smallest possible space. Stay out of the room until 30-45 minutes after the unit has shut
off. (Ozone breaks down naturally in about 30 minutes. If you must go into the room during
this process, you won't be harmed, but don't linger in a space where high levels of ozone
are present.)

÷ Set to 'low', in a well-ventilated area (or medium in a large space), you can use ozone to

keep pet odors or cooking odors in check. Many people enjoy the fresh-air smell that is

produced. At higher levels of concentration, ozone can take on an unpleasant, bleach-like

odor.

÷ When the ozone generator is active, you may hear a slight hissing sound in addition to air

movement when you are near the machine.

IMPORTANT: If you have respiratory disease or might otherwise be sensitive to ozone consult
your physician before using this feature.

Strange Smell From Unit

The XJ-3000C air purifier may cause a subtle "burning" smell. This can be attributed to one of
two things. First, the UV lamp produces only trace amounts of ozone, which may be detected
in small, enclosed spaces. If the smell is bothersome, then you can remove the UV lamp from
the machine. Doing so does not affect the other air purification methods. Secondly, the slight
"burning" smell could be a result of harmless and nonflammable byproducts from the HEPA
filter paper. After a period of continuous operation, the burning smell will go away completely.

UV Lamp Not Working

The UV lamp should illuminate while operating. Since it is safely located behind the filter, you
can only see the "blue glow" by peering through the top air outlets into the interior of the air
purifier. If the UV lamp is not glowing when on, and it has been in use for less than a year,
then push on each end of the bulb to make sure it is tightly in the UV lamp holder.

The provisions of this warranty are in lieu of any other written warranty, whether express or
implied, written or oral, including any warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular
purpose. The Aire Company and the manufacturer's maximum liability shall not exceed
the actual purchase price paid by you for the product. In no event shall The Aire Company
the manufacturer be liable for special, incidental, consequential, or indirect damages.
This warranty does not cover a defect that resulted from improper or unreasonable use
or maintenance, accident, improper packing, or unauthorized tampering, alteration, or
modification as determined solely by us. This warranty is void if the label bearing the serial

number has been removed or defaced.

If any part requires repair during the first 90 days after receiving your New-Aire XJ-3000C Air

Purifier, due to manufacturer defect, we'll send you an advanced replacement unit along with
a prepaid FedEx return label for the return of the problem unit.
