1 PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

1.1 General

The Neutronics Mini ID Refrigerant Identifier will provide an easy an d accurate means to determi ne if the R-1234yf refrigerant in vehicle air condi tioning systems is of suitable purity. The inst rument utilizes non-disper sive infrared (NDIR) technology t o determine t he weight concentr ations of refrigerant t ypes R134a, R 22, as well as, hydrocarbon s and air. Refrigerant purity is automatically determined for refrigerant R-1234yf by t he instrument to eliminat e human err or.
The inst rument is supplied complete with an R-1234y f sample hose, a 12 VDC power cord and all required plumbing housed within a rugged, portable instrument. The Neutronics Mini ID is an economical instrument designed to provide a “PASS” or “ FA IL” indication for R-1234yf Purity. The product will also indicate if an excess amount of noncondensable gas (air) is present in the system. Excess “air” will cause poor cooling performan ce and can be easily corrected by si mply recovering the refrigerant, evacuating the system and r echarging t he vehicl e. The Mini ID uses a simple hand pump to purge refrigerant from the sample cell in order to calibrate the instrument. LED’s provide the user with easy to understand status indicators. Flashing LED’s require user action while solid LED’s indicate the i nstrument is performing a task.
The unique br ass filter, located between the Coupler and Sample Hose, provides excel lent protection from oil contamination by trapping the oil at the coupler and preventing it from entering the instrume nt. If the i nstrument continually gives excess air messages, this is an indication that the fi lter has been compromised by oil and the fi lter must be changed.

a) “PASS” indicates the r efrigerant tested is 95% or greater R-1234yf and is suitable for
recovery.
b) “FAIL” indicates the refrigerant tested is less than 95% R-1 234yf and should not be
recovered w ithout special equipment.
c) The EXCESS AIR” light will illuminate in conjunction with the “PASS” or “FAIL” if the
instrume nt determines that a significant amount of air is present. (See Help/Troubleshooting)
