NetBotz PS100 Particle Sensor
Thank you for purchasing this NetBotz PS100 Particle Sensor. This sensor enables your NetBotz appliance to monitor a location for the presence or dust and other particulates lar ger than 1 micro meter.
This external sensor can be used only with a NetBotz 320, NetBotz 420, or NetBotz Sensor Pod 120 connected to a NetBotz 420 or NetBotz 500. Use of this sensor with other NetBotz appliances is not supported.
Note
Once you have installed the PS100 Particle Sensor and have used the Advanced V iew Sensor Pods task to configure your appliance you can use Advanced View to:
• Specify the acceptable levels of particulates for each PS100 attached to the appliance
• Enable or disable PS100 Particle Sensor alert functionality. Particulate alerts can be generated based on user-specified thresholds, and alerts can also be generated if either the sensor cable or power cord are disconnected from the sensor
The NetBotz PS100 Particle Sensor package includes the following items:
• The PS100 Particle Sensor external sensor module
• Particle sensor power supply
• 15 foot long 6 Pin Mini-Din Male-to-Male Cable
If the cable is not long enough, use a NetBotz Extension Cable for External Sensors (available in 50’ and 100’ lengths from your NetBotz reseller) to lengthen the cable.

Installation

To install the NetBotz PS100 Particle Sensor:
1. Place the PS100 Particle Sensor at the location that you want to monitor.
Important! To function properly, the PS100 Particle Sensor must be oriented with the four rubber feet resting on or parallel to the floor of the location to be monitored. The sensor should not be placed near a fan or other source of artificial air flow. Because the concentration of particulates is greatest close to the floor,
Note
for best results the PS100 Particle Sensor should be placed on or close to the floor. If you choose to wall-mount the PS100 Particle Sensor, it should be mounted as close to the floor as possible.

2. Plug one end of the DIN cable into an available External Port on your Sensor Pod 120.
Be sure to note the number of the External Port when you connect the cable; you will need it when you configure your NetBotz appliance. The External Port number is printed above the port on the appliance or pod.
Note
3. Connect the other end of the DIN cable to the Sensor Port connector on the PS100 Particle Sensor. If necessary, use a NetBotz Extension Cable for External Sensors (available in 50’ and 100’ lengths from your NetBotz reseller) to lengthen the cable. If desired, use the included cable mounting kit to attach the PS100 Particle Sensor to a surface at the installation location.
4. Connect the power supply to the sensor and then plug it into a standard wall socket.
When you have finished installing the sensor, use the Sensor Pods task to configure your WallBotz 500 to use the PS100 Particle Sensor. Once you have configured your appliance, an analog sensor reporting number of particles per cubic inch (or cubic centimeter) of air, and state sensors reporting the state of the power and sensor cable connections, are available in the Sensor Readings pane of the Advanced View.

Cleaning Your PS100 Particle Sensor

Your PS100 Particle Sensor uses an optical system to detect the presence of airborne particulates. To ensure the reliability of your PS100 Particle Sensor, the sensor’s lenses should be cleaned once every 6 months, though more frequent cleaning may be necessary in smoky or chronically polluted locations. T o clean the lenses, remove the access panel located on the rear of the sensor housing by gently prying up from the bottom. Use water to moisten one end of a cotton swab and gently wipe the lenses, and then use the dry end of the cotton swab to dry the lenses. When finished, replace the access panel.
To clean the outside of the unit, disconnect the power and DIN cable and then wipe the unit with a damp cloth.
Important! Do not use solvents or cleansers of any kind to clean the lenses or the outside of the unit. Use water only.
