1. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Read all instructions and keep these safety instructions. Any type of misuse of the appliance may resultin a potential injury.

In case of any inappropriate use or failure to comply withthe instructions, the manufacturer accepts no responsibility andthe guarantee may not apply.

The guarantee does not cover appliances thatdo notwork or do not work properly because they have not been maintained and/or descaled.

INTENDED USE

This appliance isintended to be used in household only. It is not intended to be used in following applications, andthe guarantee will notapply for: – staff kitchen areasin shops, offices and other working environments; – farm houses; – by clients in hotels, motelsand other residential type environments; – bed and breakfast type environments;

Your appliance is intended for domestic use inside the home only at analtitude below 3400 m.

ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY

Connect the appliance to a mains power socket with anearth connection only. Mains voltage must be the same as the details on the rating plate. The use of incorrect connection will negate the guarantee andmay be hazardous.

To protectagainst fire, electric shock and injury to persons do not immerse the power cord, plugs or the appliance in water or other liquid. Avoid spillage on the plug. Never touch the power cord with wethands. Do not overfill the water tank.

In case of an emergency remove the plug from the mains power socket immediately.

Unplug from the mainspower socket when not in use.

To disconnect, remove the plugfrom the mains power socket. Do not unplug by pullingthe cord.

Do notlet the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter, or touch hotsurfaces or sharp edges. Do not allow the cord to dangle (risk of trippingup). Never touch the cord with wethands.

Do notoperate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. Do notoperate any appliance that malfunctions or hasbeen damaged in any manner. Unplug cord immediately. Return the damaged appliance to the nearestauthorised service facility designated by the NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®hotline.

If the mains power socket doesnotmatch the plug on the appliance, have the plugreplaced with a suitable type by aftersales service centres designatedby the NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®hotline.

CONDITIONSOFUSE

11.

Always use the appliance on a flat, stable, heatresistant surface away from sources of heator water splashes.

12.

Do notuse the appliance without the drip tray and dripgrid, except when a very tall mugis used. Do not use the appliance for hot water preparation.

13.

Never turnthe machine upside down.

14.

The use of accessory attachments notrecommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock or injury to persons.

15.

Do notplace on or near a hot gasor electric burner, or in a heated oven.

16.

Do notputfingers under the outlet duringbeverage preparation.

17.

Do nottouchthe injector of the machine head.

18.

Never carry the appliance by the extraction head.

19.

The capsule holder is equipped with a permanent magnet. Avoid placing the capsule holder near appliances and objects thatcan be damaged by magnetism, e.g. creditcards, USB drivesand other data devices, video tapes, television and computer monitors with picture tubes, mechanical clocks, hearing aids and loud speakers.

20.

Do notturn offthe appliance during the descaling process. Rinse the water tank and cleanthe appliance to avoid any residual descaling agent.

21.

If away for prolonged periods, on holiday, etc. the appliance mustbe emptied, cleaned and unplugged. Rinse before reuse. Operate the rinse cycle before re-using your appliance.

22.

We recommend using the NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®capsules designed andtested for the NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®machine. They were designed to interact together – the interaction provides the in-cup quality that NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®is knownfor. Each capsule is designed to prepare aperfect cup, and cannot be reused.

Do notremove hot capsulesby hand. Always use capsule holder handle to dispose ofused capsules.

24.

Always insert the capsule holder in the machine to prepare a beverage. The appliance will not work if the capsule holder is notinserted. Do not pull outthe capsule holder before the indicator stopsblinking.

25.

Machines equipped with a locking handle: Scalding may occur if the lockinghandle isopened during the brewing cycles. Do notpull up the lockinghandle before the lightson the machine stop flashing.

26.

For health reasons, always fill the water tank with fresh drinking water.

27.

After use ofthe appliance alwaysremove the capsule and clean the capsule holder. Empty andclean the drip tray and capsule bin daily. Food allergy sufferers must rinse the appliance according to cleaning procedure.

The heating elementsurface is subject to residual heatafter use and plastic housings may feel warm to touch several minutes upon use.

29.

Patients with pacemakers or defibrillators: Do not hold the capsule holder directly over the pacemaker or defibrillator.

30.

The appliance shall notbe placed in a cabinetwhen in use.

RECYCLING

Packaging is made ofrecyclable materials. Contactyour local council / authority for further information on recycling programs. Your appliance contains valuable materials which can be recovered or recycled.

CHILDREN

31.

Keep the appliance andits cord outof reach of children aged less than8 years. Children shall not play with the appliance.

This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years andabove and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use ofthe appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved.

This appliance isnotintended for use by children or persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience andknowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use ofthe appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Persons who have a limited or no understanding of the operation and use ofthis appliance must first readand fully understand the contents of the user manual, and where appropriate seek additional guidance onits operation anduse from the personresponsible for their safety.

Children shouldbe supervised to ensure that they do notplay with the appliance.

Cleaning anduser maintenance shall notbe made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised by an adult.

Children shouldnotuse the appliance as a toy.

MAINTENANCE

37.

Unplug from the mainspower socket before cleaning. Allow to cool before puttingon or taking offparts, before cleaningthe appliance. Never clean wet or immerse appliance in any fluid. Never clean the appliance with runningwater. Never use detergents to cleanthe appliance. Clean the appliance only using softsponges/brushes. The water tank should be cleaned with a clean food-safe brush.

38.

Any operation, cleaning and care other than normal use mustbe undertaken by after-salesservice centres designated by the NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®hotline. Do not dismantle appliance and do not putanything into openings.

39.

To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not remove the cover. No user serviceable parts inside. Repair should be done by authorized service personnel only!

4. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SAFE USE

Never add hotwater to the water tank! For rinsing and beverage preparation only use

drinkingwater.

Do not touch plug withwet hands. Do not touch machine with wet hands!

Always keep themachine upright! After finishing preparation the indicator light blinks

5. 1 HOW TO START THE MACHINE

Make sure thatthe selectionlever is in “STOP” position. Ensure to use the correct mains voltage as given in 2. "MACHINE OVERVIEW" onpage5. Connect power plug to mains power socket.

5. 2 FIRSTUSERINSING

Fill water tank with fresh drinking water. Insert it back into machine. Remove drip tray.

Open locking handle. Pull out capsule holder.

Open locking handle. Put rinsing tool into capsule holder. Insertcapsule holder into machine. Place alarge empty container underneath the coffee outlet.

Machine switches on automatically after removing the capsule holder. Indicator light starts blinking red while machine is heating up for approximately 40 seconds. Afterwards indicator lights steady green. Machine is ready to be used.

Close locking handle.

Pushselectionlever to the "COLD" position. Machine starts rinsing.

After approximately 60seconds push selection lever to the “STOP” position. Indicator light blinks red for about 5 seconds.

Pushselectionlever to the "HOT"position. Machine starts rinsing.

Open locking handle. Pull outcapsule holder. Remove rinsingtool. Reinsert capsule holder.

Empty container. Fill water tank withfreshdrinking water. Insert water tank intomachine. Reinsert driptray. Machine is ready to be used.

Adjustdriptray position. Place cup with correct cupsize on driptray. See "BEVERAGEEXAMPLES" or package. Check if the water tank contains enoughfresh drinkingwater.

Pushselection lever to the "HOT" or "COLD" positionas recommended on capsule packs. Beverage preparation starts.

Open locking handle. Pull outcapsule holder. Machine switches on automatically. Indicator light starts blinking red while machine is heating upfor approximately 40 seconds. Afterwards indicator lights steady green. Machine is ready to be used.

Stay beside the machine throughout the preparation! After reachingthe desiredlevel push selection lever to the “STOP” position. Machine stops preparation.

Make sure rinsing tool is notinside. Insertcapsule in capsule holder. Insert itback into machine. Close locking handle.

After finishing preparation the indicator light blinks red for a few seconds, andchanges to steady green. Duringthat time

Whenindicator light is steady greenopenlockinghandle. Remove cup from driptray.

Pull out capsuleholder. Remove used capsule. Put used capsule in dustbin.

Rinse capsuleholder withfreshdrinkingwater fromboth sides. Dry capsule holder. Insert it back into machine. Enjoy your beverage!

7. CLEANING

Rinse andclean water tank.Use a cleanfood-safe brush and washing-upliquidas needed. Afterwards refill with freshdrinkingwater and insert it into machine. The water tank is notdishwasher proof!

Open locking handle. Put rinsingtool into capsule holder. Insert capsule holder into machine. Close locking handle. Remove driptray. Place a large empty container underneath the coffee outlet.

Rinse drip tray and rinsing tool with freshdrinkingwater. Clean driptray with cleanfood-safe brush. Alternatively wash in dishwasher.

Machine switches onautomatically after removingthe capsule holder. Indicator light starts blinking red while machine is heating upfor approximately 40seconds. Afterwards indicator lights steady green. Machine is ready to be used.

Clean withwashing-upliquidand freshdrinkingwater both sides of capsule holder. Alternatively washin dishwasher. Dry it afterwards. Cleanthe head ofthe machine around the injector witha clean softdamp cloth.

Pushselection lever to the "HOT" position. Machine starts rinsing.

After approximately 60seconds push selection lever to the “STOP” position. Remove and empty container. Warning:

Hot water!Handle with care!

Open locking handle. Pull outcapsule holder. Remove rinsingtool. Reinsert capsule holder. If any, remove water fromwater tank.

Unplug power plug!Cleanmachine witha soft damp cloth. Dry it afterwards with a softdry cloth.

8. DESCALING AT LEAST EVERY 3–4 MONTHS

Use NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®liquid descaler. To order, call the NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®hotline or go on the NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®website.

If the indicator light has changedfrom steady greento steady orange (descaling alert), or thebeverage comes out slower thanusual (evenin droplets), or if it is cooler than usual, themachine has to be descaled.

Do not use vinegar for descaling! Avoid contact of descalingliquid with any

part of the machine.

If any, remove water from water tank. Mix 0.5 liter fresh drinkingwater with descaler in a measuring cup. Pour descaling solution into water tank andinsert water tank into machine.

Open locking handle. Put rinsingtool into capsule holder. Insert capsule holder into machine. Close locking handle. Remove driptray. Place a large empty container underneath the coffee outlet.

Pushselection lever to the "HOT" position. Machine starts descaling.

Check visually whenwater tank is empty. Pushselection lever to the "STOP" position. Indicator lights steady green when descalingis finished.

Empty and clean container. Rinse and cleanwater tank. Use a cleanfood-safe brushand washing-upliquid as needed. Afterwards refill with freshdrinking water andinsert itinto machine.

Pushselection lever to the "HOT" position. Machine starts rinsing.

Pushselection lever to the "COLD" position. Machine starts rinsing.

Check visually whenwater tank is empty. Pushselection lever to the "STOP" position.

Empty container. Remove water tank. Afterwards refill with freshdrinkingwater and insert it into machine.

Open locking handle. Pull outcapsule holder. Remove rinsingtool. Rinse capsule holder withfreshdrinkingwater fromboth sides. Reinsert capsule holder.

Fill water tank with fresh drinkingwater. Insert it back into machine. Clean machine with a softdamp cloth. Dry it afterwards witha soft dry cloth.

9. 1 INDICATOR LIGHT TURNED TO ORANGE COLOUR

Indicator light turned to orange colour

This means that the machine needs to be descaled. Follow instructions in 8. "Descalingatleastevery 3–4 months" on page14.

9. 2 NO LIQUID COMES OUT – NO WATER IN WATER TANK?

No liquid comes outand the machine makes a loudnoise: The water tank may be empty.

Pushselection lever to the "STOP" position.

Check if the water tank contains enough fresh drinking water. Ifnot, refillwithfreshdrinking water andpush selection lever to the "HOT"position respectively "COLD" to continue preparation. If the water tank is full, check instructions described in 9.3and 9.4.

9. TROUBLESHOOTING

9. 3 NO LIQUID COMES OUT – CAPSULE BLOCKED?

No liquid comes out: The capsule may be blocked and under pressure.

Do not drink the coffee!Putusedcapsule industbin.

Pushselection lever to the "STOP" position. Openlocking handle. If the locking handle cannotbe opened, wait for 20 minutes, try again.

Try to operate machine withoutcapsule. If water flows, it shows thatthe issue was with the capsule. Just use a differentcapsule. If not, follow with9.4"No liquidcomes out - injector blocked".

9. 4 NO LIQUID COMESOUT – INJECTOR BLOCKED?

If the lockinghandle canbe opened, followwithstep3. If not, unplugthe machine and call the NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®hotline.

No liquid comes out: The injector may be blockedand under pressure.

Remove the water tank and take out the cleaningneedle.

Keepneedle outofreachofchildren!

Unplug power plug!For better access to injector tilt machine. Never touch injector withfinger!Cleaninjector with cleaningneedle. Follow instructions in 8. "Descalingat least every 3–4 months" on page14.

9. 5 VARIOUS

Machine cannot beswitched on.

Beverage is splashing outof coffeeoutlet.

Check if the power plug is correctly plugged into a mains power socket. If yes, checkyour electricity supply.

Pushselection lever to the "STOP" position. Do not drink the coffee! Pull out capsule holder. Putusedcapsule in dustbin.

If machine still cannotbe switched on, call the NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®hotline.For hotline numbers see last page.

Clean machine surface around injector needle. Inserta new capsule in capsule holder and insert it back into machine.

If the beverage comes outslower than usual (evenin droplets), try another capsule. If the problem persists, the machine has to be descaled.

Use NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®liquid descaler. To order, call the NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®hotline or go on the NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®website.

9. 5 VARIOUS

Indicator light flashes red fast.

Water accumulates underneathor around machine. Clear water leaks aroundcapsule holder duringbeverage preparation.

Switch off machine. Unplugpower plug and wait20 minutes. Remove the capsule holder and throw the capsule away. Afterwards plugpower plug into mains power socket and switch machine on.

Unplug power plug!
