1. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
1.
Read allinstructions and keep these safety instructions. Any type of misuse of the appliance may resultina potential injury.
2.
Connect the appliance to amains power socket with anearth connectiononly. Mainsvoltage must be the same as the detailson the ratingplate. The use of incorrect connectionwill negate the guarantee and may be hazardous.
3.
This appliance is intended to be used inhousehold only. Itis not intended to be usedinfollowing applications, and the guarantee will notapply for:
–staff kitchen areasin shops,offices and other workingenvir-
onments; –farm houses; –by clients in hotels, motelsand other residential type envir-
onments; –bed and breakfasttype environments;

We recommend usingthe NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®capsules designed andtested for the NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®machine. They were designed to interacttogether – the interaction provides the in­cupquality thatNESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®is known for. Each capsule is designed to prepare a perfect cup, and cannot be reused.

Do notremove hot capsulesby hand. Always use capsule holder handle to dispose of used capsules.

Alwaysuse the appliance on aflat, stable, heat resistant surface away from sources ofheator water splashes. This appliance shall notbe placed in a cabinetwhen in use.

To protect againstfire, electric shock and injury to persons do not immerse the power cord, plugs or the appliance in water or other liquid.Avoid spillage on the plug. Never touch the power cord with wethands. Do notoverfill the water tank.
10.
In case of anemergency remove the plug from the mains power socketimmediately.
11.
Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used near children.Keep the appliance /power cord / capsule holder outof reachof children. Childrenshould be supervised to ensure that they donot play with the appliance. Never leave the appliance without surveillance while making a beverage.

This appliance is notintended for use by children or persons with reducedphysical, sensory or mentalcapabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Persons who have a limited or no understandingofthe operation and use of this appliance must first readand fully understand the contents ofthe user manual, and
where appropriate seek additional guidance on its operation and use from the person responsible for their safety.

Do notuse the appliance withoutthe drip tray and drip grid, exceptwhen a very tall mugisused. Do not use the appliance for hotwater preparation.

For health reasons, alwaysfill the water tank with fresh drinking water.

After use of the appliance always remove the capsule and cleanthe capsule holder. Empty and clean the drip tray daily and also the capsule bin (when available). Food allergy sufferersmustrinse the appliance according to cleaning procedure.

The heating element surface is subject to residual heatafter use andplastic housings may feel warm to touch several minutesuponuse.

Unplug from the mains power socket when notin use.

Unplug from the mains power socket before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or takingoff parts, before cleaning the appliance.Never clean wet or immerse appliance inany fluid. Never clean the appliance with running water.Never use detergentsto cleanthe appliance. Cleanthe appliance only usingsoft sponges/brushes. The water tank should be cleaned witha cleanfood-safe brush.

Never turn the machine upside down.

Ifaway for prolonged periods, on holiday, etc. the appliance mustbe emptied, cleaned and unplugged. Rinse before reuse. Operate the rinse cycle before re-usingyour appliance.

Do notturn off the appliance duringthe descaling process. Rinsethe water tank and cleanthe appliance to avoid any residual descaling agent.
22.
Any operation, cleaningand care other than normal use must beundertaken by after-sales service centres designatedby NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®hotline. Do notdismantle appliance and do notputanything into openings.
23.
In case of intensive use without allowingsufficient cooling time, the appliance will stop functioning temporarily with the red indicator lightblinking. This is to protect your appliance from overheating. Switch the appliance off for 20 minutes to let itcool down.
24.
Do notoperate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug. If the power cord isdamaged, itmust be replaced by the manufacturer, itsservice agent or similarly qualified persons inorder to avoida hazard. Do not operate any appliance that malfunctionsor has been damagedinany manner. Unplug cordimmediately. Return the damagedappliance to the nearestauthorised service facility designated by NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®hotline.

The use of accessory attachments notrecommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock or injury to persons.
26.
Do notlet the cord hang over theedge of a table or counter, or touch hotsurfaces or sharp edges. Do notallow the cord to dangle (risk of trippingup). Never touch the cord with wet hands.
27.
Do notplace on or near a hot gasor electric burner, or ina heated oven.
28.
To disconnect, removethe plugfrom the mainspower socket. Do not unplug by pulling the cord.
29.
Alwaysinsert the capsule holder in the machine to prepare a beverage.Do not pull outthe capsule holder before the indicator stopsblinking. The appliance will not work if the capsule holder is notinserted.
30.
Machines equipped with a locking handle: Scalding may occur ifthe lockinghandle isopened during the brewing cycles. Do not pull up the lockinghandle before the lights on the machine stop flashing.
31.
Do notputfingers under the outlet during beverage preparation.
32.
Do nottouch the injector of the machine head.
33.
Never carry the appliance by the machine head.
34.
The capsule holder is equipped with a permanent magnet. Avoid placingthe capsule holder near appliances and objectsthat can be damaged by magnetism, e.g. credit cards, USB drives and other data devices, video tapes, television and computer monitors with picture tubes, mechanical clocks, hearing aids andloud speakers.
35.
Patients with pacemakers or defibrillators: Do not hold the capsule holder directly over the pacemaker or defibrillator.
36.
Ifthe mains power socket does notmatch the plug on the appliance, have the plug replacedwith a suitable type by aftersales service centresdesignated by NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®hotline.
37.
Packaging ismade ofrecyclable materials. Contactyour local council/ authority for further information on recycling programs. Your appliance contains valuable materialswhich can be recovered or recycled.

4. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SAFE USE

Rinse water tank manually with freshdrinking water. Fill water tank with fresh drinkingwater. Insert water tank into machine. Open locking handle.

Switch onmachineby scrolling thevolume selector. Indic­ator light starts blinking red whilemachineis heatingup for approximately 40 seconds. Afterwards indicatorlights steady green. Machine is ready tobe used.

Takecapsule holder andpress locking tab toopenit. Make sure that rinsingtool is incapsule holder. Close capsule holder.

Setvolume display to 7withvolume selector. Push selec­tionlever to the"COLD" position. Machine starts rinsing.

8. DESCALING AT LEAST EVERY 3–4 MONTHS
Use NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®liquid descaler. To order, callthe NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®hotline or goon the NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®website.

Ifthe indicator lighthas changed from steady green to steady orange (descalingsignal), or thebeverage comes outslower thanusual (evenin droplets), or if it iscooler thanusual, the machine has to bedescaled.

Donotuse vinegar for descaling! Avoidcontactof descaling liquid withany
partof the machine.

Ifany, remove water from water tank.

Mix 0.5liter fresh drinkingwater with descaler ina meas­uring cup. Pourdescaling solution into water tank and insertwater tankinto machine.

Pushselection lever to the "HOT" position. Machine descales in start-stop operation for approximately 2 minutes. Lever comesback tothe middle position.

Empty and clean container. Rinse andcleanwater tank. Use a cleanfood-safe brush and washing-up liquid as needed. Afterwards refillwith freshdrinking water and insert itinto machine.

Pushselection lever to the "COLD" position. Machine descales continuously. Lever comes back to themiddle pos­ition.

Pushselection lever to the "HOT" position. Wait until the lever moves to the"STOP" position. Water flowstops.

For abetter effect ofthe descaler, the machine enters a waitingtime of2 minutes. Bar display lights vanish pro­gressively.

Pushselection lever to the "COLD" position. Waituntil the lever moves to the"STOP" position. Water flowstops.

Remove container. Empty and clean container. Pull out cap­suleholder. Remove rinsingtool.Keep it ina safe place for latercleaningor descaling. Rinse capsule holder with fresh drinkingwater from bothsides. Reinsert capsuleholder.
