TERMINAL BLOCK CHECKLIST

JUNCTION BOX AND TERMINAL BLOCK SELECTION GUIDE

This is a guide to help with the selection of a junction box and terminals for ATEX and IECEx installations or for
installations in North America for use with the HPC100, HSC100, HTC125 or HPTC125 connection kits.

Junction boxes for ATEX and IECEx installations must be ATEX and IECEx certified for electrical connections
using terminal blocks with the following minimum requirements:

o Minimum size specification for:

 HPC100 and HSC100 120 x 120 x 90 mm (width x height x depth)
 HTC125 / HPTC125 170 x 170 x 90 mm or 220 x 120 x 90 mm (width x height x depth)

o Certified for operating temperature range of -40oC to 90oC
o ATEX Flammable gas / vapor atmospheres : II 2 G Ex e IIC Gb
o ATEX Combustible dust substances / atmospheres: II 2 D Ex tb IIIC Db
o IECEx Flammable gas / vapor atmospheres: Ex e IIC Gb
o IECEx Combustible dust substances / atmospheres: Ex tb IIIC Db
o Ingress protection rating of IP66

 Recommend ABTECH BPGC6EExE or ATX JBEP1212090 for HPC100 and HSC100 kits
 Recommend ABTECH BPGC7EExE or ATX JBEP1717090 for HTC125 or HPTC125 kit

Junction boxes for installations in North America must be certified by an OSHA Nationally Recognized Testing
Laboratory (NTRL) with the following minimum requirements:

o Class I Division 2 Groups B,C,D
o Class II Division 1 Groups E,F,G
o Class III
o Type 4X rating, Ingress protection rating of IP66
o Class I Zone 1 AEx e IIC
o Ambient temperature range of -40oC to +55oC (-40oF to +130oF)

Terminal blocks for ATEX and IECEx installations must be ATEX and IECEx certified with the following
minimum requirements:

o Certified for operating temperature range of -40oC to 100oC
o Voltage rating of 277VAC
o 6mm2 (8 AWG) wire size
o ATEX : II 2 G Ex e IIC Gb
o IECEx: Ex e IIC Gb

 Recommend Weidmüller terminals ZDU 6 and ZPE 6 including accessories:

 35mm DIN rail
 WEW 35/2 end stop
 ZAP / TW 35 end plate
 ZQV 6/2 cross connector 2 pole

Terminal blocks for installations in North America must be certified by an OSHA Nationally Recognized Testing
Laboratory (NTRL) with the following minimum requirements:

o AEx e II
