Using WorldTALK on a LAN
The default setting for WorldTALK is to attempt to autodial your ISP when it is launched. LAN
users do not dial out to an ISP, so LAN users must change the settings to prevent autodial on
startup. Follow the next steps to disable autodial.
1.
Launch WorldTALK from the Start Menu.

Printing With bPrint Software
One advantage of the bFax software on your MobilePro 790 is the ability to print faxes through
the infrared port at the 115.2Kbps setting, using bFax’s bPrint software. Infrared is the only
supported printing device. If you do not have a printer that supports Infrared printing, you can
place the file you wish to print on your desktop or notebook computer and print through your
default printing device.
Follow these steps to change your Infrared printer port setting:
1.
Tap Start, Settings, Control Panel.
2.
Tap on MobilePro Settings icon.
3.
Use the arrow buttons to access the IrDA tab.
4.
Select 115.2Kbps.
5.
Tap the OK button, then Tap OK again.
6.
Save all your data and soft reset the system.
AC Adapter Cable Storage
In order to ensure the proper operation of your AC adapter cable, and to avoid damaging the
adapter, NEC recommends that you not bend the AC cable more than 60 degrees where it
connects to the adapter. When storing your AC adapter, use a large enough container that the
cable does not bend more than 60 degrees.

Using the FlashROM Configuration Utility
Your MobilePro 790 includes the Internal FlashROM Configuration Utility, which recovers
information about files stored in FlashROM after events like a full reset, or if both main and
backup batteries are drained or removed. When this happens, the SDRAM memory is erased,
including information about the files on the FlashROM. The FlashROM Configuration Utility
recovers the data about the files on the FlashROM, and reestablishes links to those programs.
The only files affected are Primer and WorldTalk.
Follow these steps to run the Internal FlashROM Configuration Utility.
1.
Click Start, Programs, Application, Internal FlashROM.
2.
The Internal FlashROM main screen displays the currently available free space in
FlashROM. Press the Inspect button to look for applications whose registry settings are not
already set by the Internal FlashROM Utility.
3.
If any uninstalled applications are detected, the Internal FlashROM Utility prompts you to
install them. After inspecting the FlashROM for applications, the utility displays the
message “Inspection Completed Successfully.”
4.
If any applications are installed, the utility prompts you to soft reset the MobilePro. This
must occur before you use any programs. For instructions on using the soft reset button,
refer to the user’s guide.
Note
separate Default_Info folder holds the application files (Help, shortcut, etc.), in order by
application.
Each application is placed in its own folder in the HPC Internal FlashROM folder, and a
Recovering Applications after a Full Reset
When the system restarts after a full reset, you must go through several setup activities before
the FlashROM Configuration Utility screen appears. Click Yes to enable the FlashROM
Configuration Utility, and then soft reset the system. Please refer to the user’s guide for more
information on full and soft resets.
After the system resets, complete the procedure in “Using the FlashROM Configuration Utility”
in this document. If any applications that use the utility are found, you can recover them one at a
time.
Adding Applications to FlashROM
Some applications come with instructions for installing to the FlashROM. Follow those
instructions, when provided. However, if you are installing a .cab file, follow the next steps to
add the application to FlashROM from your PC.
1.
Connect your MobilePro to your PC using the serial cable. For details on attaching the
serial cable, refer to the user’s guide.
2.
Copy the application (downloaded from the Internet or supplied on a disk) to the
Synchronized Files folder on the PC. This is the folder ActiveSync checks for files to move
to the MobilePro.
3.
Double click the ActiveSync icon on your PC to launch ActiveSync on both systems. When
ActiveSync synchronizes your MobilePro to your PC, any files in the Synchronized Files
folder on the PC are automatically copied to the “My Documents/Synchronized Files”
folder on the MobilePro.

4.
On the MobilePro, move the application file(s) from the “My Documents/Synchronized
Files” folder to the “Internal Flash ROM” folder on the MobilePro Control Panel. If the
application is a .cab file, double click the icon to install it on the MobilePro. It is
automatically installed, and inspection with the FlashROM Configuration Utility is not
necessary.
5.
Inspect all non-cab applications by completing the procedure, “Using the FlashROM
Configuration Utility” in this document.
Removing Applications from FlashROM
To remove an application from FlashROM, tap Remove Programs on the Control Panel of the
MobilePro and select the program to remove.
If you remove WorldTALK or Primer from the FlashROM you will not be
able to recover them.
