Windows® CE, Handheld PC
Professional Edition software. This document contains important information and helpful tips for
maximizing the use of your MobilePro system. Be sure to read the contents of this document before using your MobilePro.
Using MobilePro Power Sources
The MobilePro is powered by one of two power sources, battery power (main and backup batteries) or AC power.
Use only the MobilePro 880 battery (MC/BA11A) in the MobilePro 880 system (MC/R730A). Do not use the MobilePro 800 battery (MC/BA11) in the MobilePro 880 system. Use of the MobilePro 800 battery in the MobilePro 880 system may cause battery damage and/or system data loss.
Web Address Change
Your NEC MobilePro ships with a variety of applications and help files easily accessible through the NEC MobilePro desktop. The NEC Where to Get Help icon on the MobilePro desktop provides a comprehensive list of help resources for Windows CE, MobilePro pocket applications, ISP settings, MobilePro accessories, technical support, warranty service, and much, much more.
The MobilePro Technical Support and Warranty Service web site address, http://support.neccsdeast.com/products/mobilepro/index.asp, listed in the NEC Where to Get Help file on the MobilePro desktop, is changed.
The new address, http://www.neccomp.com (click on Service & Support), is listed in your NEC MobilePro user’s guide. Use this web address for MobilePro technical support and warranty service information.

NEC Bonus Software CD
A variety of software applications are provided on the Bonus Software CD that ships with your NEC MobilePro. These applications let you take full advantage of your MobilePro capabilities.
The software applications on the Bonus Software CD include the following and are subject to change without notice.
n Audible Player — An audio player to enjoy while in the office or on the road. n ArcSoft™ cePhoto — A powerful tool to help you to organize and edit digital
photographs.
n Connect Force™ — An internet setup wizard that simplifies and facilitates
your remote connection setup.
n JETCET™ PowerPoint Companion — A versatile print driver that allows you
to convert source files from your pocket applications into impressive PowerPoint presentations.
n JETCET™ Print — A collection of printer drivers for a wider range of high-
speed printers.
n HPC NetProfile — A network configuration utility that allows you to create
multiple network profiles for each of your network adapters.
n SmartPass Client — Network client software that provides secure remote
access to internal networks, applications and services.
n SmartPass Info — A file that provides additional information about
V-One’s client/server VPN software services.
n Online 780/880 Help — An online version of your MobilePro user's guide.

ASL Server
The ASL-Connect client software that is loaded into the ROM of your NEC MobilePro requires a server connection to operate.
ASL-Connect server from Extended Systems is a server component providing direct access to Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes/Domino. ASL Server also provides remote backup and remote applications deployment via wireline, or wireless.

Aironet Wireless LAN Adapter
In addition to the applications described earlier in this document in the NEC Bonus Software CD section, the CD contains the Aironet Wireless LAN Adapter software. The Aironet software is not part of the CD setup program and resides in the Aironet directory on the Bonus Software CD. Use the Aironet software, only if you are using the Aironet Wireless LAN Adapter with your NEC MobilePro.
To take advantage of the Aironet software, copy the Aironet files, Aironet Uninstall Utility.exe, Aironet Wireless Adapter Setup.exe, and aironet.dll, to your NEC MobilePro.
Follow these steps to copy the Aironet files to your NEC MobilePro.
1. Copy the files, Aironet Uninstall Utility.exe and Aironet Wireless
Adapter Setup.exe to the location of your choice on your NEC MobilePro.
2. Copy the file, aironet.dll to the Windows directory on your NEC
MobilePro.
3. Insert the adapter card into the PC card slot of your NEC MobilePro.
4. Type aironet.dll in the driver name dialog box, when prompted.
5. Locate and run the setup program. Set parameters as specified by
your network administrator.
bSquare® bUseful Script
The bUseful Script application on your NEC MobilePro desktop allows you to automate tasks such as logging on to an ISP, retrieving email, and more. For more information about this software, simply tap the “?” in the upper right corner of the screen or visit http://www.bsquare.com.
Note The bUseful Scripts provided in ROM are for example, only.
Before using the scripts, modify the scripts to suit your own needs.

Microsoft Pocket PowerPoint
Your NEC MobilePro includes Microsoft Pocket PowerPoint, enabling you to display your presentations on both the MobilePro desktop and an external display device.
When using Microsoft Pocket PowerPoint on the NEC MobilePro 780 to configure an external display device, be sure to follow these steps.
1. Launch Microsoft Pocket PowerPoint and open the desired
presentation file.
2. Tap Tools, then tap Set Up Show.
3. Use the ‘View Show On’ dropdown box to select the desired external
display option, then tap OK.
4. Tap the ‘View Show’ icon (movie screen) ONCE, for a full screen
display of your presentation to the selected external display device.
Do not repeatedly tap the ‘View Show’ icon (movie screen) when using Microsoft Pocket PowerPoint to configure an external display device. Doing so may cause your NEC MobilePro 780 to hang. If your MobilePro unit hangs, use the reset button on the bottom of the system to reset the unit. For details about resetting your NEC MobilePro, refer to the NEC MobilePro 780 User’s Guide.
5. Use the arrow keys or simply tap the presentation slide on the
MobilePro desktop to advance through the presentation.
Infrared Communication
Your NEC MobilePro supports infrared communication and synchronization to most host PCs. However, some host PCs may not work when attempting infrared communication and synchronization with your NEC MobilePro. For more information, consult the documentation provided with your host PC and its infrared setup guidelines.
