WINDOWS CE OPERATING SYSTEM
Windows C E is the s mallest member of the Windows op erating syst em family using the W indows 95 interface. W hat exactly does sma lles t mean? This c ode bas e is c omplet ely 3 2 - bit; it is multithrea ded, multitasking and r uns on diff erent p rocessors such as the NEC V MIPS processor.
Your MobilePro does not have a hard dis k drive. The oper ating syst em and preloaded applications are deployed on a Read- O nly Memory (R O M) module; f iles that you wor k on are stored in Random Access Memory ( RAM) on a RAM module.
The power of Windows CE is enhanced throu gh its desi gn to eas ily link with your desktop c omputer to synchronize your data. For mor e informat ion abou t setting up your M obilePro for s ync hronization, see the section in Cha pter 1, “C onnecting to You r PC.”
Using Windows CE
Windows C E is similar to Windows 9 5. However, s ome ac tions are executed differently, as indicated in t he f ollowing sections.
