CAUTION
Observe the safety and ESD precautions while

Power off the system and remove the left side panel as described earlier in
this chapter.
2.
Tag and disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
3.
Lift the cartridge upward out of the Universal Retention Module (URM) and
place it on a grounded, static-free surface or conductive foam pad.

Remove the new processor from its antistatic package.
5.
Position the processor into the URM. Ensure that the alignment notch at the
bottom of the cartridge fits into the connector key in the slot. Push down
firmly, with even pressure on both sides of the top until the cartridge is
seated.

Connect the fan cable to fan connector (B) on the system board.

After you have installed a new processor, you must run the BIOS Setup
Utility (F2) to configure its speed. Refer to Chapter 3, “Configuring Your
