Dear Customer!
We sincerely appreciate your purchase of this Nausem. These Instructions for Use are designed to assist you in learning about how to use the device.
What is Nausem capable of?
Nausem enables you to enjoy carefree travelling by air, sea or
road. Nausem has been developed for those people who suffer from
nausea, dizziness or vomiting. Medicine designed to treat nausea and vomiting can produce side
effects such as drowsiness or giddiness. Nausem is a gentler alternative that can be used as a sole means of therapy or in combination with medicine.
The treatment involves stimulating the skin (transcutaneous stimulation) with the help of electrodes. As Nausem is simple to use, you determine the length and intensity of application. Since Nausem can be used at any time, you do not need to begin your treatment hours in advance.
However, should you be prone to travel sickness, attach Nausem around half an hour before departure and allow the timer to run for approx. 15 minutes.
Nausem is not a substitute for consulting your doc tor. N a use a and vomiting are serious physical reactions. Should the symptoms prevail, please ensure that you consult your doctor.

Inserting the battery
Apply a little thumb pressure to the battery compartment, open it in the direction of the arrow and insert the supplied 3 volt lithium battery into the Nausem as shown in the illustration on the inside of the battery compartment lid.
Always switch off the Nausem before changing the battery. Please remove the lithium battery if the Nausem is not going to be
used for a length of time.
Where do I apply the Nausem?
Before use, please wash the area of skin where the device is to be applied to ensure that the electrodes cling well.
Connect the Nausem to the electrodes by means of the stud adapter or the connector. Remove the protective foil from the elctrodes. Place the Nausem about two to three fingers width away from the bend in the wrist (see illustration).
Apply the smaller electrode opposite the larger one on the underside of the forearm (see illustration).
Caution!
If only one of the electrodes is applied to
the intensity and the Nausem will automatically switch off after about 20 seconds. Should the position of the electrode be changed during treatment, the intensity will automatically re-set to the lowest level.
the skin, you will not be able to increase
- 6 -
After treatment, please place both electrodes back onto the protective foil. The electrodes will last longest if stored in a cool place (a fridge, for example). Adding a few drops of water to the surface will restore the adhesiveness of the electrodes.
How do I use Nausem?
To switch on and increase the intensity, press the ON/HI key (5). The level of intensity increases each time you press the key (max. of 10 levels). The greater the intensity, the “more noticeable” the current.
To switch off and lower the intensity, press the LO/OFF key (4). The level of intensity decreases by one level each time you press the key and the Nausem will switch itself off after level 1.
To select the desired programme, press the MODE key (2). Press the key to switch between programmes 1 and 2. The selected programme is shown in display 1 or 3. If no level of intensity is subsequently selected, the Nausem will automatically switch off after about 20 seconds. If the Nausem is switched off and then back on again later, the last programme that was used will be displayed. After the programme has been changed, the level of intensity will automatically be reset to the lowest level. Should you wish to switch off the Nausem during treatment, please press the MODE key (2) first to allow the level of intensity to re-set automatically to the lowest level. Once this has occurred, switch off the Nausem by pressing the LO/OFF key (4).
The Nausem has an automatic timer function. The length of treatment is approx. 15 minutes after which the Nausem will automatically switch off. A flashing light in display 1 or 3 indicates that the timer function is on. Should the programme be changed during treatment, the timer will continue to run and will not re-start at 15 minutes.
When using the Nausem for the first time, you will find that the default setting is low-frequency stimulation (Programme 1).
- 7 -
Should this not be enough to reduce the nausea, simply press the MODE key (2) to switch to high-frequency stimulation (Programme 2).
What side effects might occur?
Skin irritation
Skin irritation may arise in reaction to the electrodes, the conductivity gel or the electrical impulses themselves. Should the redness, burning, itchiness or blisters under the electrodes or in the region where the electrodes are applied prevail after treatment, please ensure that you consult your doctor before undergoing any further treatment. Slight, temporary reddening of the skin in the areas where the electrodes have been applied is a normal occurrence after treatment and is an indication of improved blood circulation caused by the stimulation.
