OPERATION
PA-SIP Paging Switch is designed to Connect a Paging Amplifier to an
IP based PBX (Local or Cloud). Once installed, PA-SIP will allow a PBX
user to make a Paging Call from any extension of your PBX.
PA-SIP connects to any Network Connection Point, or it can also be
connected direct to a Network Switch or Modem-Router. Once installed
you can:
DIAL AN EXTENSION NUMBER: To make a paging call, the user
1.
need only dial the telephone extension number that PA-SIP is
connected to. PA-SIP answers after 1 Ring and produces a short
‘beep’.
MAKE YOUR ANNOUNCEMENT: PA-SIP will generate a short
2.
‘beep’ before connecting the caller to the attached paging amplifier.
The caller can then make a paging announcement and hang up.
3.
HANG UP: PA-SIP has a ‘hang up tone’ detection circuit which
will terminate the call after the detection of 2 hang up tones. PASIP will then be ready to take another paging call.
LED OPERATION
The LED of PA-SIP will show:
RED when it is in Idle or Ready Mode
FLASH GREEN for each RING when an incoming ring is detected
GREEN when an incoming call is answered and is in progress
FLASH ORANGE for each HANG UP TONE detected
DTMF and TIME Hang Up operation
PA-SIP is also programmed to HANG UP on detection of any DTMF digit
from 0-9, or after a fixed period of time. The maximum call time is set in
programming mode.
In very rare cases, PA-SIP may not be able to detect Hang Up tones due
to EMI interference from other equipment located close to it.
In the unlikely event that you experience this problem, PA-SIP can
terminate a call after any one of the following other conditions:
1. By pressing any TOUCH TONE digit (0-9) after the announcement
2. After a fixed period of time (programmable by user)

PAGING AMPLIFIER CONNECTION
PA-SIP is connected to the Paging Amplifier via a supplied 8P to RCA
connection cable.
1.
Use the supplied cable with the RCA plug to connect the Paging
Amplifier port of PA-SIP to the RCA input of your Paging Amplifier.
Switch your Amplifier ON.
2.
3.
Call the PA-SIP units Extension Number to make a test Paging Call
Adjust the PA volume to suit with the Amplifier Volume control.
Note: You only have 30 seconds to do this before PA-SIP hangs up.
Hang Up: If PA-SIP does not terminate the paging call soon after you
4.
have hung up, then your Telephone System is not outputting US
specification Hang Up tones and you should program it to do so or
use one of the other call termination methods described (see page
10).
You can now change the User Programming capabilities of PA-SIP
5.
Switch to suit individual requirements
Two separate User Programmable parameters are provided
(see page 11)

CALL TERMINATION OPTIONS
PA-SIP is also programmed to HANG UP on detection of any DTMF digit
from 0-9, or after a fixed period of time. The maximum call time is set in
programming mode.
In very rare cases, PA-SIP may not be able to detect Hang Up tones due
to EMI interference from other equipment located close to it.
In the unlikely event that you experience this problem,
PA-SIP can terminate a call with any one of the following other
conditions:
1. UPON DETECTION OF HANG UP TONES (Default)
PA-SIP is pre-programmed to automatically HANG UP the paging
call after the detection of 2 Hang Up tones.
2. BY THE USER PRESSING ANY TOUCH TONE (0-9)
The person making the Paging Call can terminate the paging call by
pressing ANY Touch Tone number (0-9) on their telephone keypad at the
completion of their announcement.
Note: # and * cannot be used to terminate a call.
3. AFTER A FIXED PERIOD OF TIME
PA-SIP will automatically terminate a paging call after a programmable
length of time (default is 30 seconds).
This is a fallback in case the above methods fail to operate
You can change the Maximum Page Call Duration for any period of time
between 10-99 seconds in programming mode (see page 11).
Page 10 Natcomm
PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE

program 1 or both parameters, in any order, during the same
programming call. Unless you anticipate that Page durations may exceed
30 seconds, you will not need to change any of these parameters.
Call the Extension Number to which PA-SIP switch is connected.
PA-SIP switch will Answer after 1 ring (you will hear 1 beep)
After the single ‘beep’, press ## (you will hear 3 beeps)
This will take you into program mode
To Change:

You can set a fixed CALL TIME in seconds at which time PA-SIP will
HANG UP if the Paging Call is not already terminated.
Press: #1xx (you will hear 1 beep)
Where xx = number of seconds and can be 01-99
(for example, press #145 for 45 seconds)
Default Setting : 30 seconds
2. Hang-Up Tone Detection Delay
You change the Delay before the start of Hang Up Tone detection from
05-99 seconds after the paging call is answered.
Press: #2xx (you will hear 1 beep)
Where xx = number of seconds and can be 05-99
(for example, press #210 for 10 seconds)
Default Setting : 05 seconds
NOTE: Do NOT change the Hang-Up Detection Delay unless advised
by NATCOMM to do so.
