1.0 INTRODUCTION
THIS APPLIANCE IS HOT WHEN OPERATED AND CAN CAUSE SEVERE BURNS IF CONTACTED.
Do not operate appliance before reading and understanding operating instructions. Failure to operate appliance according to operating instructions could cause fi re or injury.
Risk of burns. Power to the appliance should be turned off and the appliance allowed to cool before servicing. To disconnect power to the appliance, turn controls to off, then remove plug from outlet.
Do not install damaged, incomplete or substitute components.
Do not burn wood or other materials in this appliance.
Young children should be carefully supervised when they are in the same room as the appliance.
Toddlers, young children and others may be susceptible to accidental contact burns. A physical barrier is recommended if there are at risk individuals in the house. To restrict access to an appliance or stove, install an adjustable safety gate to keep toddlers, young children and other at risk individuals out of the room and away from hot surfaces.
Clothing or other fl ammable material should not be placed on or near the appliance.
Due to high temperatures, the appliance should be located out of traffi c and away from furniture and draperies.
Ensure you have incorporated adequate safety measure to protect infants/toddlers from touching hot surfaces.
Even after the appliance is out, the glass and/or screen will remain hot for an extended period of time.
Check with your local hearth specialty dealer for safety screens and hearth guards to protect children from hot surfaces. These screens and guards must be fastened to the fl oor.
Any safety screen or guard removed for servicing must be replaced prior to operating the appliance.
It is imperative that the control compartments, circulating blower and its passageway in the appliance and are kept clean. The appliance should be inspected before use and at least annually by a qualifi ed service person. More frequent cleaning may be required due to excessive lint from carpeting, bedding material, etc. The appliance area must be kept clear and free from combustible materials, gasoline and other fl ammable vapors and liquids.
Under no circumstances should this appliance be modifi ed.
Do not use this appliance if any part has been under water. Immediately call a qualifi ed service technician to inspect the appliance and to replace any part of the control system which has been under water.
Do not operate the appliance with the glass door removed, cracked or broken. Replacement of the glass should be done by a licensed or qualifi ed service person.
Do not strike or slam shut the appliance glass door.
Keep the packaging material out of reach of children and dispose of the material in a safe manner. As with all plastic bags, these are not toys and should be kept away from children and infants.
Servicing should be done only while the appliance is disconnected from the power supply circuit.
Always unplug appliance when not in use.
Do not operate this appliance with a damaged cord or plug after the appliance malfunctions, has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Return appliance to authorized service facility for examination, electrical or mechanical adjustment, or repair.
Do not use outdoors.
Never locate appliance where it may fall into a bathtub or other water container.
Do not run cord under carpeting. Do not cover cord with throw rugs, runners, or the like. Arrange cord away from traffi c area and where it will not be tripped over.
Connect to properly grounded outlets only.
Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an electric shock or fi re, or damage the appliance.
To prevent a possible fi re, do not block air intakes or exhaust in any manner. Do not use on soft surfaces, like a carpet, where openings may become blocked.
Always plug appliances directly into a wall outlet/receptacle. Never use an extension cord or relocatable power tap (outlet/power strip).
Ensure clearances to combustibles are maintained when building a mantel or shelves above the appliance. Elevated temperatures on the wall or in the air above the appliance can cause melting, discolouration or damage to decorations, a T.V. or other electronic components.

2.1 UNPACKING AND TESTING APPLIANCE
Carefully remove the appliance from the box and remove the support brackets. Prior to installing the appliance, remove all packaging material and test to make sure the appliance operates properly by plugging the power supply cord into a conveniently located 120V,15 Amp minimum grounded outlet.
2.2 GROUNDING APPLIANCE

This appliance is for use on 120 Volts. The cord has a plug as shown in (A). An adapter as shown in (C) is available for connecting three-blade grounding type plugs to two-slot receptacles. The green grounding lug extending from the adapter must be connected to a permanent ground such as a properly grounded outlet box. The adapter should not be used if a three-slot grounded receptacle is available.
To disconnect appliance, turn controls to off, then remove plug from outlet.

3.3 FRAMING
Prepare rough in framing following the recommended dimensions in Figure 1. For the corner rough in framing, follow the recommended dimension in Figure 2.
Select a location that is not prone to moisture and is located at least 36" (914mm) away from combustible materials such as curtain drapes, furniture, bedding, paper etc.

A. Once the rough opening has been prepared, and the power has been routed to the right side of the
recess, the appliance may be installed.
B. The electrical connection must be made prior to sliding the appliance into place. (See "HARD
WIRING INSTALLATION" section). Slide the appliance into the wall.
C. To secure the appliance to the wall, remove the glass door (See "GLASS DOOR REMOVAL AND
INSTALLATION" section) and log / grate / ember bed (See "LOG, GRATE AND EMBER BED ASSEMBLY REMOVAL" section).
D. Level the appliance and use the 4 screws provided to secure the appliance to the wall studs, refer to
Figure 3..
E. Install the brick panels (See "BRICK PANEL INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL" section), log /grate
and ember bed assembly and the glass door to the appliance.
NOTE: In order to avoid the possibility of exposed insulation or vapour barrier coming in contact with the appliance body, it is recommended that the walls of the appliance enclosure be "fi nished" (ie. drywall/sheetrock), as you would fi nish any other outside wall of a home. This will ensure that clearance to combustibles is maintained within the cavity.

3.3.1 HARD WIRING INSTALLATION

TURN OFF THE APPLIANCE COMPLETELY AND LET COOL BEFORE SERVICING. ONLY A QUALIFIED SERVICE
PERSON SHOULD SERVICE AND REPAIR THIS ELECTRIC APPLIANCE.
HARD WIRING CONNECTION
If it is necessary to hard wire this appliance, a qualifi ed electrician must remove the cord connection, and wire the appliance directly to the household wiring. The wire and power supply breaker must rated for 120V minimum 15 Amps.
This appliance must be electrically connected and grounded in accordance with local codes, if hard wired. In the absence of local codes, use the current CSA C22.1 CANADIAN ELECTRICAL CODE in Canada or the current ANSI/NFPA 70 NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE in the United States.
NOTE: There are 5 wires from the fi replace junction; white (neutral), black (power L1) and green (ground) that connect to 120V power supply (breaker panel) and red 1 / red 2 for connections to the optional wall thermostat, see below.

A. Remove the securing screw from the electrical cover plate, located on the right hand side of the
replace.
B. Add an electrical box connector and feed the supply wires through the 7/8" (22mm) knock out. C. Separate the black, white and green wires that have the marrets on them. D. Remove the marrets and secure the black wire (power L1) to the black (power L1) lead of the
power supply. Connect the white wire from the unit to the white (neutral) wire from the power supply. Connect the green wire to the ground wire.
E. Resecure the cover plate.

3.3.2 CONNECTING A WALL THERMOSTAT
NOTE: Thermostat (not supplied) must be rated for 120 vac minimum 15 amps. This function only operates the heater.
A. Remove the electrical box cover plate from the right
side of the fi replace.
B. Feed the thermostat wires through the 7/8" (22mm)
knock out.
C. Pull out the two red wires from the electrical box and
remove the marret.
D. Connect two wires to the newly exposed wires
and run to the thermostat location. Connect to the thermostat.
E. Replace and rescure the cover plate.

3.3.3 WALL SWITCH WIRING

NOTE: Use a single pole on/off switch (not supplied) rated for minimum 15 Amps.
A. Remove the electrical box cover plate. B. Feed the supply wires through the 7/8" (22mm) knock out. C. Connect one black wire to the black wire coming from the fi replace electrical box, connect the
other end to the wall switch.
D. Run a wire from the wall switch to the power supply. E. Connect the white wire (neutral) from the power supply to the white (neutral) wire coming from
the electrical box on the fi replace.

4.0 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Once the appliance has been plugged into a grounded electrical outlet or hard wired to a 120V power supply, it is ready to operate.
NOTE: Ensure the house circuit breakers for the power supply are turned on. In the event of a power failure, when the main power switch of the appliance is in the "I" ON position and the hand held remote control is in the ON position, the fl ame generation lights will come back on at the high setting, when the power supply returns.

A. Turn main power switch ON, the ame will be at the brightest setting and the heater
will be OFF. To turn on the heater, push the heater button.
B. To adjust the fl ame brightness, press the fl ame button . There are three brightness
levels to cycle through and then an off setting (F1, F2, F3 and then F0). Every time the fl ame is initiated it will start at the brightest level.
C. The default setting temperature display is Fahrenheit. To change to the desired
temperature format, press and hold the fl ame button for 5 seconds, this will change the display from Fahrenheit to Celsius, or vice versa.

4.2 OPERATING BY REMOTE CONTROL

NOTE: When operating the remote control, it must be directed towards the front center of the appliance.
A. Make certain the appliance’s main power switch is at the ON
position on the control board. The appliance will default to the brightest fl ame setting when main power is initially switched to ON position.
B. The power button can be used to power up or down the appliance
(the main power switch on the appliance must be in the ON position for the remote to operate). Pressing this button activates the power to the appliance. Pressing this button again will turn off the appliance. The ember and log will fade out after 4 seconds.
C. To adjust the fl ame brightness, press the fl ame button . There
are three brightness levels to cycle through and then an off setting (F1, F2, F3 and then F0).F3 is the brightest level.

D. To begin the thermostat function press the thermostat button ,
there are 6 temperature settings (61°F, 64°F, 70°F, 75°F, 81°F and off). Press the thermostat button to cycle through the settings. Once you have selected the desired temperature the heater will automatically function until that temperature is reached. The default setting will display Fahrenheit. When the room temperature is a degree lower than the temperature setting, the heater will turn on.
E. To activate the heater, press the heater button . The blower and
heater will turn on. Press the heater button again to turn off the
heater, the blower will remain on for 8 seconds.
F. To activate the timer, press the timer button , the icon will
illuminate and the time will appear on the LED display. To choose the desired time, continue to press the timer button, there are 6 settings (1hour, 2h, 3h, 4h, 5h and off), each setting represents hours of operation. The fi replace will turn off at the setting time.
G. To activate the decoration light, press the light button .There are three settings to cycle through
and then an off setting (d1, d2, d3 and then d0). d1 white colour, d2 colour cycles from white to orange to blue to orange & blue to blue & orange to white & blue. It will take 8.5 seconds to switch from one colour to the next when in d2 setting, d3 will lock to a desired colour.
H. To turn off the appliance, press the power button once on the remote, or switch the main power to off/
on the control panel on the unit.
NOTE: This hand held remote control must remain within 6 meters or 19 feet of the appliance to be effective.

A. To remove the glass door, swing the top two latches to release the door. The door will hang slightly
on the the safety catch wire. NOTE: Pushing in on the door, will make the latch swing easier.
B. Place one hand on the glass door while removing the screw from the catch wire. Allow the door to
pivot slightly, hold the sides with both hands while lifting the door out of the unit.
C. To install the glass door, simply place the door on the holding pins on the bottom frame of the unit.
Install the screw into the safety catch wire, slightly push the glass door into the frame and latch it secure with the two top latches.

5.2 BRICK PANEL INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL
A. Slide the panels into place and secure it using the 2 screws.

B. Ensure the brick panels are positioned appropiately in the unit and are not angled or sticking out
from the unit.

6.2 LOG AND LOG LED REPLACEMENT
If the log's LED lights become damaged replace with the proper LED light.

6.3 FLAME GLASS REMOVAL
A. Place a hand on the glass to hold it in place while removing the 10 screws on the bottom of the
glass. The glass will fall down to 2 holding tabs.
B. Tilt the glass forward on the bottom with both hands, lift the glass up and out of the unit. C. Place the glass on a soft, non-abrasive surface.
6.4 FLAME BOARD REMOVAL
A. Remove the 5 screws on the bottom and 4 screws
on top of the fl ame board.
B. Lift the fl ame board out of the unit.
