TOM MORELLO
™
POWER 50
OVERDRIVE
TBM1
For more than 30 years, the key component of Tom
Morello’s raw, hard-hitting sonic voice has been his
amp setup. The MXR Power 50 Overdrive captures
the sound and functionality of that setup for use with
any rig, whether you have a simple combo amp or a
high-end custom stack.

Basic Operation
1. Run a cable from your guitar to the TBM1’s INPUT jack
and run another cable from the TBM1’s OUTPUT jack to
your amplifier. If using the effects loop, run a cable from
the TBM1’s SEND jack to the input of the first pedal in
your loop. Run another cable from the output of the last
pedal in your loop to the TBM1’s RETURN jack. Note:
effects loop signal is only active while TBM1 is engaged.
2. Start with all controls at 12 o’clock.
3. Turn the effect on by depressing the EFFECT
footswitch.
4. Rotate VOLUME knobl clockwise to increase effect
volume or counterclockwise to decrease it.
5. Rotate BASS knob clockwise to boost low end
frequencies of pre-effects loop signal or counterclockwise
to cut them.
6. Rotate MID knob clockwise to boost midrange
frequencies of pre-effects loop signal or counterclockwise
to cut them.
7. Rotate TREBLE knob clockwise to boost high end
frequencies of pre-effects loop signal or counterclockwise
to cut them.
8. Rotate GAIN knob clockwise to increase intensity of
overdrive or counterclockwise.
9. Rotate the PRESENCE knob clockwise to boost overall
high-end frequencies or counterclockwise to cut them.
10. If you have the TBM95 Cry Baby® Tom Morello
Wah, place it into the FX loop to recreate Tom’s tonally
balanced and aggressive vocal wah sweeps. Placing the
TBM95 before the TBM1 will produce a subtle wah effect,
while placing the TBM95 after the TBM1 will create a
treble-focused toe-down wah response.
Power
The MXR® Tom Morello Power 50™ Overdrive is powered by one
9-volt battery (accessible via battery door on bottom plate), a
9-volt AC adapter such as the Dunlop ECB003/ECB003EU, or
an MXR Brick™ Series power supply.
