White Paper
Are You Sure Your Fastener
is Cost Eective?
We all know that economics drive most
purchasing decisions. However, there are
instances when purchasing based on
component price can end up costing a
company a lot more money in the long run.
Fasteners for metal-to-metal applications are
a perfect example of how specifying or
purchasing the wrong part can end up
negatively impacting your bottom line. The
chances of this happening are increased in
applications that are “o-angle.” Cross
threading frequently occurs which results in
both the screw and the application being
thrown away. This means scrap and
downtime, losing both time and money
for your operation.
However, even “straight in” applications
have issues. Continued exposure to manual
applications can result in carpal tunnel or
other repetitive motion/fatigue issues for your
employees. Automatic equipment also can be
subjected to unforgiving operator errors.
MAThread Technology
The answer for many fastener applications
can be found via MAThread® patented thread
designs. The self-correcting design makes thread
damage or seizing impossible. Any installer
can use them without fear of fastener or part
damage. No more destroyed screws or damaged
components means reduced cost.
The technology can be used on any externallythreaded fastener and can be customized to
accommodate a specific application.
The MAThread technology can accommodate
dierent point styles to achieve the needs
of specific applications. Point styles include
MATpoint, dog point, very short, P point or
custom. The technology works with all types of
nuts and internal threads, unaected by paint.
Who Can Benefit?
MAThread® fasteners are not sensitive
to assembly tool speed; they correct oangle installations, and improve operator
ergonomics by reducing repetitive stress.
They actively align every fastener and its
mating parts during assembly. Ergonomics
and “ease” of assembly is improved by
reducing the torque feedback to the
installer’s hands during installation.
Typically used for automotive and heavy
equipment, MAThread® fasteners can
also benefit applications in construction,
electronics, motorcycles, recreational
vehicles and motorcra.
The incorrect fastener choice which was
made to save pennies can result in the loss
of dollars. Multiply that scenario over and
over again, and you can see the significant
negative impact to the bottom line.
