Before starting the installation, you should decide the location for all components of the speaker system.
This can be the door of the vehicle, the dashboard or rear parcel shelf. You may also choose to make custom mounts for the speakers as the best results
can often be obtained by using MDF bafe rings.
The woofer can be used with or without the grill which allows you to mount it in the factory locations where compatible. If you are custom mounting the woofer you should use the supplied grill to protect the cone from damage. Please ensure that wherever you choose to mount the woofer you have adequate clearance at the rear and that it does not foul any mechanism for the window or central locking motor. Also please ensure that if it is being mounted in a door that the window will move freely up and down to its fullest extent.
When you have chosen your mounting location you will need to cut out a hole with either a jigsaw or a router. The cutout size for the 4” is 95mm for the
5.25” it is 113mm and for the 6.5” it is 146mm.
Once the hole is cut please trial t the woofer to ensure clearance at the rear
and also at this time you can mark the holes for the screws. Remove the woofer and drill out the mounting screw holes. You can then mount the woofer and grill assembly and secure it complete with
the supplied screws.
The tweeter comes supplied with two different housing which allow you to mount it in a wide variety of locations.
Using the ush mount housing will allow you to mount the tweeter ush to either the door panel or other at surface.
Once you have chosen your mounting location for the tweeter you should again check for clearance at the rear of the panel to allow the tweeter to sit
ush.

Next you will need to cut a 45mm hole for the tweeter body to t through the
panel. Once the hole is cut you can insert the tweeter into the hole and use the supplied bracket to secure it from the rear.
If you are to use the surface mount option you should remove the front bezel from the tweeter by unscrewing it anti clockwise. Once apart you can drill two pilot holes in the chosen mounting location for the screws that will hold the rear section of the tweeter in place. You will also need to drill one other hole for the wires to pass through the panel.
Once the rear housing is mounted you can then insert the tweeter and then screw the surface mount cowling onto the assembly.
The crossover can be mounted in whichever location is most suitable for your chosen application however the following points should be noted.
The crossover is not waterproof so care should be taken when mounting inside a door panel that no water will be able to enter the crossover. Try and mount the crossover as high up the door as possible and make sure that water running in between the window runners will not contact the crossover.
The Harmony tweeter has the ability to be angled for even further ne tuning. This feature is available in both the surface mount and ush mount options.
We recommend you try moving the tweeter slightly after installation and set up is complete and see which position gives the best results.
Please note that the tweeters do not have to be angled directly at the ears as this can sometimes produce a very poor stage. Instead, use the angle adjustment to compensate for poor factory mounting locations and raise the perceived soundstage further up the car to the dashboard level. Also please note that you do not have to set both tweeters to the same angle as better sound may be produced by having slightly different angles.

When you come to wire up your new Harmony component speakers please
ensure that the speaker’s wires do not get pinched behind any panels and that
they are not going to get nipped by and panel securing screws. Also please make sure that wherever the wires pass through metal that they are protected by a grommet (door jambs).

:
• Check connections on speaker are good and connections at source are
good.
• Make sure gain or volume is turned up. Check that none of the
speaker wires are shorted or pinched behind a panel or trim. Check all connections at crossover especially the tweeter level input connections.
• Check that gain levels are correct at all ampliers and processors. Also
check that crossover points are correct.
• Also check that the speaker wires are not shorted or touching any bare
metal.
:
• The speaker may have been damaged due to incorrect mounting or may have been driven by to small an amplier causing a clipped signal to be
sent to the speaker which may have damaged the voice coil.
• Check that all speakers are wired ‘in phase’. This means that all positive
wires go to all positive speaker terminals and the same for negative.
