The new Engage range of Subwoofers are made from heavy stamped steel
baskets and one piece custom tooled cones, and will work just as well in
ported or sealed enclosures.
Since its awakening back in 2004, Car Audio has been

depending on your music tastes and specific requirements.
We recommend using a minimum of 3/4” (18mm) MDF for constructing your enclosure. Also be sure
to glue all joints w i t h a high strength wood glue a nd on c e assembled, all joints should be sealed
with silicone sealant.
You may wish to experiment by p l ac i n g your e nc l osure in different positions in the boot. You w i l l
find that by c h a nging t he direction the subwoo f e r faces, the bass response will a l ter.
Not e that all measurements need to b e internal measure m e n t s (I f they are being taken ex ternally
you w i l l need to subtract the w i d th of the wood from each mea s urement accordingly.
To calculate the internal volume in Ft3, multiply the H eight (A)

If space is not a n issue, the maximum enclosure will yield greater amounts o f low end bass
(bet ween 2 5 - 35 Hz) and a l s o has a very s m ooth re s ponse, ideally suited to sou n d qua l i t y
applic ations . However, this can b e at the expense of some power handling capability. We
recommend using a subsonic filter set to 25Hz.
The minimum enclosure will have a greatly increased output over a sealed enclosure, at frequencies
between 30Hz-75Hz.
The port opening s hould not b e agains t a solid panel such as a seat back or side panel, and there
should be at least 6 inches free space in front of the port.

Check connections on subwoofer are good and connections at amplier are good.
Check that gain levels are correct at all ampliers and processors.
Check that the enclosure is totally sealed (except for the port in ported enclosure
types) and that it is within the minimum and maximum recommended enclosure sizes
and that in the case of a ported box the port is of the correct length and diameter.
The subwoofer may have been damaged due to incorrect enclosure parameter or may
have been driven by to small an amplier causing a clipped signal to be sent to the
subwoofer which may have damaged the voice coils.
