Installation Precautions
Your new X-LP2is designed and built to provide trouble-free performance, as with all electronic devices it is however necessary to observe a few precautions. Please ensure that you have complied with these before you connect the power to
your X-LP2. Retain this guide for future reference.
n Do not use the X-LP2near water. n Keep the X-LP2away from heat sources such as radiators. n Only use the X-PSU provided. The use of other
.
power supplies could seriously damage your X-LP
n Place all connecting cables where they are not likely to be
walked on or trapped by items placed on them.
This Hi-Fi product has been tested to ensure that its operation will not be adversely affected by normal background levels of R.F.I. (Radio Frequency Interference). It is possible that if the unit is subjected to abnormally high levels of R.F.I. the unit may not perform as expected. In the unlikely event of this happening please contact Musical Fidelity's service department.

All connections should be made before the X-PSU is plugged into the mains supply.
The X-LP2are easy to connect into your system. If your turntable is fitted with a Moving Magnet type cartridge, plug the RCA/phono leads from your
turntable into the X-LP2inputs marked MM. If your turntable is fitted with a Moving Coil type cartridge, plug the RCA/phono leads into the inputs marked MC. Now select the appropriate cartridge type with the MM/MC
selector push button situated on the X-LP2rear panel. This button should be "in" for MC and "out" for MM.
If using the MC input, set the MC loading selector switch to the impedance that is closest to that of your cartridge.
Connect the Left and Right Outputs from the X-LP2to an unused line level input (i.e. Aux, Line etc.) on your amplifier system. Use a good quality RCA/phono interconnect lead. For the best results we recommend that you use Musical Fidelity X-LINX "no-nonsense" interconnect cables which are specifically designed to work with the X-Series units.
If your turntable has a separate single wire (a chassis earth) sometimes included with or in addition to the RCA/phono leads, this should be connect -
ed to the green earth terminal on the rear of the X-LP2(marked with the earth symbol).
Do not remove any covers, the X-LP2will not be covered under warranty if it has been tampered with. There are no adjustments within.
Please refer all service work to an authorised Musical Fidelity agent.
IMPORTANT NOTE
To avoid unwanted noise, always ensure that the volume control on your amplifier is at minimum when turning the X-PSU/XLP2 on or off
Connect the supplied, black earth wire, between the two green earth terminals on the rear of both X-LP
Connect two of the outputs from the X-PSU to the PSU inputs on both of the X-LP2. When all the connections have been completed, connect the X-PSU to the mains supply. Ensure your amplifier volume control is turned to minimum. Switch on the X-PSU and ensure the red LEDs light on both X-LP2.
Select the appropriate input on your amplifier, carefully advance the volume control and enjoy the music.
The X-LP2has been designed so that it may be left on indefinitely.
