TheAirTreatmentSystemdescribedinthismanualishereafterreferredtoasthe“unit”.

Thisinstructionmanualcontainsimportantsafetyinformation,aproductdescriptionandmaintenance instructionsforthedeliveredairtreatmentunit.Readallrelevantpartsofthismanualbeforeoperatingor performinganyworkontheunit.Observanceofthisinformationwillhelpyoutoavoiddanger,tominimise repaircostanddowntime,andtoincreasethereliabilityandtheservicelifeoftheairtreatmentunit.
Thismanualshouldbestoredinapermanentlocationclosetotheunit.

1.4Warranty
ThewarrantyisbasedonthetermsofsaleanddeliveryofMunters.Thewarrantyisnotvalidifrepairsor modicationsarecarriedoutwithoutthewrittenagreementofMunters,oriftheunitdoesnotoperateunder theconditionsagreedwithMunters.Damagesresultingfromnegligence,poormaintenanceorfailureto complywiththerecommendationswillnotbecoveredbythewarranty.

Itisaconditionofthewarrantythattheunitforthefullwarrantyperiodisservicedandmaintainedbya qualiedMuntersengineerorMuntersapprovedengineer.Accesstospecicandcalibratedtestequipment isnecessary.Theserviceandmaintenancemustbedocumentedforthewarrantytobevalid.
Thewarrantyislimitedtoafreeexchangeofpartsorcomponentswhichhavefailedasaresultofdefects inmaterialsorworkmanship.
Commissioning/Start-upinspection"S"byMuntersismandatorytovalidatethefullwarranty.
AlwayscontactMuntersforserviceorrepair.Operatingfaultscanoccuriftheunitismaintained insufcientlyorincorrectly.
1.5Inspectionofdelivery
Uponreceipt,inspecttheequipmentbeforesigningthedeliverynote.Specifyanydamageonthedelivery noteandsendaregisteredletterofcomplainttothelastcompanyresponsiblefortransportingthe equipmentwithinthreedays.InformMuntersofthiscomplaint.
Theunitmustbefullyinspectedwithinoneweekfromarrival.Ifahiddenfaultisdiscovered,senda registeredletterofcomplainttothehaulierwithintheweekfollowingdelivery,andnotifyMuntersofthis.
1.6Technicaldata
ThetechnicaldataforaspecicunitcanbefoundintheseparateDatasheetissuedforeachunit.

2.1Intendeduse
TheunitdeliveredbyMuntersmustonlybeusedforthetreatmentofair.Thisincludesltering,heating, cooling,humidifying,dehumidifyingandtransportingair.Muntersexplicitlyrulesoutanyotheruse.
Theunitisdesignedtomeetthesafetyrequirements,directivesandstandardslistedintheECDeclarationof Conformity.
NomodicationoftheunitisallowedwithoutpriorapprovalbyMunters.Attachmentorinstallationof additionaldevicesisonlyallowedafterwrittenagreementbyMunters.
TheconditionsofoperationspeciedintheseparateDatasheetmustbeobservedabsolutely.Anyotheruse oftheequipmentcancausepersonalinjuryanddamagetotheunitandotherproperty.
2.2Safeinstallation,operationandmaintenance
Greatefforthasbeenplacedonthedesignandmanufactureoftheunit,tocomplywithapplicablesafety aspectsforthistypeofequipment.
Theinformationinthismanualincludessuggestionsforbestworkingpracticeandshallinnowaytake precedenceoverindividualresponsibilitiesorlocalregulations.

2.3Residualrisks
Inordertoavoidthepossibledangersinoperatingormaintainingtheunit,necessaryprotectionshavebeen foreseen.However,therearestillsomeresidualrisksthatallpersonnelworkingwiththeunitmustbeaware of:
Thehandlingofuidsinrefrigerating,heatingorcoolingcircuitscanbedangerous.Studytheinformation relevantforeachtypeofuidtoavoiddangers.
Hotorcoldsurfacescancauseinjuries.Beforeintervening,waituntiltemperaturesbecomenormaloruse protectiveclothing.
Whenworkinginsidetheunit,payattentiontothepossibleergonomicdangersfrominadequatework positionsorheavylifts.
Unitsectionscanbehigh.Usesecurescaffoldingtoaccesstheupperlevel.
Unitpanelscanbeheavy.Donothandlealone.
Sharpsteeledgesonboxesorcoilscancausecuts.Useprotectivegloves,particularlyduringdisassembly orassembly .
Whenworkingwithornearfans,beawarethatremainingairowthroughtheunitcancausespontaneous rotationofthefansandtherebycausingpersonalinjury.
Doorsforoverpressurecompartmentscanbeequippedwithadditionalsafetylocksagainstaccidental opening.Ensurethatsuchlocksareclosedbeforestartingtheunit.
Thereand/orsmokedetectionisnotasafetyfunctioninrelationtotheENISO13849-1.
Whenworkingwithltersorinadustyarea:T oprotecttheuserfromdust,wearasuitableCEmarkedface maskselectedandttedinaccordancewiththeapplicablesafetystandards.
Usehearingprotectionaccordingtoapplicablesafetystandardswhenworkinginanoisyenvironmentto avoidhearingimpairment.

TheDesiCoolcombinesMuntersadvanceddesiccantdehumidicationtechnologywithevaporative cooling.
Insummertheunitkeepstherelativehumidityintheroomlowerthanasetsummermaximumvalue,and alsocontrolsthesupplytemperaturetothesetvalue.
Inwintertheunitkeepsthesupplytemperatureatthesetvaluebyrecoveringheatfromtheexhaustair,while atthesametimecontrollingtheroomhumiditynottobelowerthanaminimumsetvalue.

Insummertimetheunitproducescoolanddehumidiedairbyadesiccantcoolingprocess.Theambientair isdehumidiedinthedesiccantrotor.Thisprocessincreasestheairtemperature.Inthethermalrecovery rotortheairisindirectlycooledbytheevaporativecoolerintheexhaust.Finally,theairisfurthercooled directlybytheevaporativecoolerinthesupply.
Thereisaheaterintheexhaustairstreamforreactivationofthedesiccantrotor.Seethemoredetailed descriptioninsection4.1,Desiccantrotor.
Inwintertimetheunitproduceswarmair.Thethermalrecoveryrotorstartstorotateandrecoversheat fromtheexhaustairstream.Ifmoreheatrecoveryisrequiredthedesiccantrotoralsostartstorotateand recoversbothheatandmoisture.Atextremeambientwinterconditionsthehotwatercoilinthesupplyis alsoinoperation.
Throughtheuseofbypassdampersitispossibletooptimizethewaytheairistreated.

Pre-andpost-treatmentoftheprocessaircanbeperformedbythefollowingfunctionalcomponents:
Inletdamperstoenableisolationoftheunitfromtheairow .Thedampersareinstalledontheoutside
oftheunit.
Heatingcoil:Thecoilcanbeelectricorusehotwaterorsteamasheatingmedium.Thecoilmustthen
beconnectedtoanexternalheatingmediumsupply.Itispossibletoactivateapumpfromthecontrol system.
Coolingcoil:Thecoiluseschilledwater,possiblymixedwithglycol.Thecoilmustbeconnectedtoan
externalmediumsupply.Thecontrolsystemregulatesanactuatortomaintaindewpointandorcooling setpoint.Itispossibletoactivateapumpand/orachillerfromthecontrolsystem.

Therotoristheadsorptiondehumidifyingcomponentintheunit.Therotorstructureiscomprisedofa largenumberofsmallairchannels.
Thedesiccantrotorismadeofacompositematerialthatishighlyeffectiveinattractingandretainingwater vapour.Therotorisdividedintwozones.Theairowtobedehumidied,processair,passesthroughthe largestzoneoftherotorandthenleavestherotorasdryair.Sincetherotorrotatesslowly,theincomingair alwaysmeetsadryzoneontherotor,thuscreatingacontinuousdehumidicationprocess.
Theairowthatisusedtodrytherotor,reactivationair,isheated.Thereactivationairpassesthrough therotorintheoppositedirectiontotheprocessairandleavestherotoraswetair(warm,moistair).This principleenablesthedehumidiertoworkeffectively ,evenatfreezingtemperatures.
Therotorismonitoredbyarotationsensortoenableanalarmiftherotorstopsunintentionally.

Therotorsurfacemustbeinspectedregularly.Performpressuredropmeasurementstofollowrotoraging.
Thedesiccantrotorwillnotbereplacedpreventively,capacitymonitoringwillindicatewhenrotor replacementisnecessary.
4.1.3Rotorseals,drivebeltanddrivemotor
Therotordrivemotor,drivebeltandsealsshouldbereplacedifnecessary,oratthemaximumintervals accordingtothemaintenanceschedule.
Belttensioncanbeadjustedbyshorteningthebelt.
Rotorsealsmustbecheckedandadjustedonceperyear.

Thethermalrotoris,dependingontheambientconditions,usedeitherforcoolingorforheatingofthe supplyair.Thisisdonebyexchangingheatbetweenthesupplyairstreampassingthroughthelowerhalfof therotor,andtheexhaustairstreampassingthroughthetophalfintheoppositedirectionwhiletherotor rotates.
Thethermalrotorismanufacturedfromaluminiumwithmanysmallchannelsthroughwhichtheairpasses, makingalargecontactsurfacetotransfertheheat.
Therotorisdrivenbyanelectricmotorandadrivebeltaroundthecircumferenceoftherotor.

Thedropletseparatorisbuiltfromapatentedthree-plane-utedpadthatissetatanangletotheowofair. Theseparatorabsorbsthewaterdropletsandtransportsthemdownthroughthematerialtothedrainage section.

Coilnshavesharpedges.Alwayswearprotectivegloveswhenworkingwithcoils.
1.Thecoilsshouldbecheckedatleastonceayear,andcleanedifrequired.
2.Someofthedustwhichpassesthroughthelterscomestorestonthecoilcells.Thislayerofdust affectstheairowandreducestherateofexchangeleadingtodecreasedunitefciency.
3.Thecoilsshouldthereforebekeptclean.Cleaningcanbedonebyusingavacuumcleaner,lowpressure compressedairorlowpressurewaterandasoftbrush.Donotforgettocleantheunitinternallyafterthe coilcleaning.NeveruseHPcleaners,thiswilldamagethecoilns.
