WARNING
Suffocation and Strangulation Hazard.
Death or Serious Injury Can Occur.
Infants who cannot get in and out of an adult bed without help can be trapped between a
mattress and a wall and suffocate.
NEVER place infants in adult beds with or without a bed rail.
BED RAIL USE:
• Bed rail can trap young children against mattress, headboard, or footboard.
• Use only for children who have outgrown a crib. NEVER use in place of a crib.
• Use only with children who can get in and out of an adult bed without help
(typically 2 years and up).
• ALWAYS keep bed rail pushed firmly against mattress and at least 9 inches from headboard
and footboard.
• NEVER use on a toddler bed, bunk bed, water bed, or bed with inflatable mattress. Use only
on adult bed with mattress and box spring.

Assembling the Cross Rails
Depress the Locking Pin on one half and push
it into the other half of the rail. The Locking Pin
pops into place when the pieces are securely
attached, as shown in Fig. 1. Repeat for the
second Cross Rail.
Installing the Cross Rails
Detach the 2 Pocket Flaps on both sides of the
Bedrail. Insert the Cross Rails into the middle
and bottom pockets, as shown in Fig. 2. Starting
from the left side of the Bedrail, slide the small
end of the Cross Rail into the pocket. Depress
the Locking Pin and push into the Receiver on the
right side of the Bedrail. The Locking Pin pops
into place when the pieces are securely attached.
To secure the left side of the Cross Rail into the
corresponding Receiver, first depress the Locking
Pin, then pull back on the Locking Piece as shown
in Fig. 3. Insert the Cross Rail into the Receiver
and push the Locking Piece forward as shown
in Fig. 4. The Locking Pin pops into place when
the pieces are securely attached. Re-attach the 2
Pocket Flaps when finished.
Repeat steps for the bottom Cross Rail.

Installation Instructions
Installing the Bedrail
As shown in Fig 5, unlock the Locking Buckle that
holds the Safety Straps in place. Repeat on the other
side. The Locking Buckles should remain unlocked as
you install the Bedrail onto the mattress. Unbind the
Safety Straps. It may seem that you have an excessive
amount of strap for the size of the mattress but this
will be taken care of in the final adjustment step. Lift
the mattress slightly and slide both legs of the Bedrail
between the mattress and the box spring. The Bedrail
must be oriented 9 inches from the head of the bed,
as shown in Fig. 6. Please refer to the ruler printed
along the side of the instruction page for accurate
measurement. With the help of a second person, lift
the mattress sufficiently to extend the Safety Straps to
the opposite side of the bed. Make sure that the Safety
Straps are not twisted or tangled and make sure that
the Anchors are facing up. Bring the mattress back
down. Check that the Bedrail is still 9 inches from the
head of the bed and make any necessary adjustments.

Tightening the Safety Straps
To secure the Bedrail against the side of the mattress
pull the loose end of the Safety Strap that is protruding
from the Bedrail, as shown in Fig. 7. Pull the Safety
Strap towards you until the Anchor is flush against the
mattress on the opposite side. If the Safety Strap does
not pull through smoothly it is most likely twisted under
the mattress. Correct this before continuing.
Once the Anchor is flush with the mattress insure that
the smooth part of the Anchor is directly under the
mattress while the ridged part is snug against the side
of the mattress, as shown in Fig. 8. It is critical that
the Safety Straps with Anchors be pulled very tight
against the side of the mattress. To do so, pull on
the Safety Strap until the Anchor creates significant
indentations in the mattress, as shown in Fig. 8.
You may need to pull on the Safety Strap several
times in order to get the required tightness. Once
sufficiently tight, continue to pull the Safety Strap
with one hand while locking the Locking Buckle
with the other. Ensure that no slack was created in
the process of locking the Locking Buckle. Check
to make sure that the process of tightening did not
cause the mattress to bow and that the mattress
still lays flat against the box spring. Once sufficiently
tight, repeat the steps to tighten the Safety Strap on
the other side.

Check for Correct Installation
The mesh panel of the Bedrail and the Anchors should
be firmly against the sides of the mattress with no gaps.
To check for tightness of the Bedrail, place your hand

between the mesh panel and the mattress. Your hand
should fit snugly and you should feel resistance. If you
do not feel resistance, further tighten the Safety Straps.
To do so, unlock the Locking Buckle, pull on the Safety
Strap and lock the Locking Buckle. Do not use the
Bedrail unless there is a snug fit between the Bedrail
and the mattress. If experiencing difficulty, call 1-800344-BABY for assistance.
Storing Excess Safety Strap Material
Once complete, tuck the excess Safety Straps between the
mattress and the box spring as shown in Fig. 9. Frequently
check to make sure that no Safety Straps are hanging off of
the bed, particularly after making the bed.
Installing the Accessories
We recommend that the Cup Holder and Nightlight be
installed closest to the head of the bed for easy access.
CUP HOLDER: Gently slide the Cup Holder onto the metal
part of the side bar as shown in Fig. 10. Do not place
directly onto the fabric.
NIGHTLIGHT: Slide the Nightlight into the adjacent
circular groove located on the top corner of the Bedrail, as
shown in Fig. 10. The light should be facing towards the
bed for easy access. Turn the light on and off by pushing
directly onto it. The light automatically shuts off after
5 minutes to preserve the battery life. The light can be
rotated 360 degrees for optimal illumination. A battery is
already installed and can be changed should it run out.
To replace the battery, you will need a Phillips-Head screw
driver and a new lithium battery CR2032 (commonly known
as a watch battery or coin cell battery). Note that you may
need to rotate the light in order to expose the screw that
holds the battery cover in place. Once unscrewed, remove
the cover and install the battery with the (+) mark facing
up. Once complete, replace the cover and tighten the
screw.
SUBSTITUTE CLIP: The substitute clip (without Nightlight)
should be placed in the same location on the opposite end
of the Bedrail.

NOTE – Please complete the following steps after the bedrail has been
assembled on bed.
• Make sure that the Safety Straps are pulled tight enough to create significant indentations where the Anchor meets
the mattress.
• Make sure there are no gaps or voids between the side of the mattress and bedrail
• Make sure that bedrail is snug against the mattress by sliding your hand between the face of the mattress and the
bedrail. Resistance should be felt. This should be done periodically during the use of the bedrail.
• Make sure that the Locking Buckle that holds the Safety Straps in place is in the locked position.
• Make sure that excess straps are NOT hanging off of the bed. If so, tuck straps under the mattress.
Check for loose straps often and after each bed-making.
