Chapter 2 – Installation
About the Leased-Line Operation Feature
The MultiModemIND can be used on a two-wire leased line.
A leased line is a private, permanent telephone connection between two points. Unlike normal dialup connections, a
leased line is always active. The modems automatically connect when they are attached to the line and are turned
on. Because a leased line is always active, one of the two modems on the line must be configured as the originate
modem and the other as the answer modem; however, it does not matter which is which.
In the event of an interruption, leased-line modems automatically reconnect when the data line or power is restored.
Setup
1. Connect a modular telephone cable to the LINE jack. Connect the other end of the cable to a two-wire
lease-line jack or terminals supplied by the telephone company.
2. Turn on the modem.

Chapter 2 – Installation
Step 1 – Desktop Placement or PanelMounting
The MT5634IND is design to be used on the desktop or to be panel-mounted. For panel-mounting, follow these
directions for attaching the mounting brackets:
1. Typically, the modem is mounted against a flat surface with two mounting screws. Drill the mounting holes at
the desired location. The mounting holes must separated by 4 -7/16 inches center-to-center.
2. To attach the brackets to the modem, slide the mounting brackets into the corresponding slots on the back
of the chassis.
3. Attach the modem to the surface with two screws.
