The MultiMobile USB V.92 Portable USB modem MT9234MU-CDC provides V.92/56K data rates, fax and
file transfer capabilities and a hot-swappable USB interface. This modem, weighing only 2 ounces, is
ideal for mobile users who want email and Internet access on the road. The MT9234MU-CDC modem
can also serve as the mobile user’s home office desktop modem.
This user’s guide helps you install, configure, test and use your modem.
Features
Telecom Safety Warnings
Before servicing, disconnect this product from its power source and telephone network. Also:
● Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.
● Never install a telephone jack in wet locations unless the jack is specifically designed for wet
locations.
● Use this product with UL and cUL listed computers only.
● Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the telephone line has been
disconnected at the network interface.
● Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines.
● Avoid using a telephone during an electrical storm. There may be a remote risk of electrical shock
from lightning.
● Do not use a telephone in the vicinity of a gas leak.
CAUTION: To reduce the risk of fire, use only 26 AWG or larger UL Listed or CSA Certified
telecommunication line cord.

Installing the Modem Driver
Before you begin, go to the Multi-Tech website and download the driver for your modem.
Installing the Modem in Windows 7
After connecting the MT9234MU-CDC to an available USB port, Windows displays a message that the
driver software was not successfully installed.
To install the driver software:
1. From the Windows Start button and select Control Panel.
2. Select the Hardware and Sound link.
3. In the Devices and Printers group, click Device Manager.

4. In the list of devices, right-click on MT9234MU-CDC and select Update Driver Software.

5. Click Browse my computer for driver software.
6. Click Browse and navigate to the area where you downloaded the driver.
7. Select the appropriate drivers for your device (either 34-bit or 64-bit) and click OK.

8. Click Next to continue the installation.
9. A Windows Security window can appear, stating that the publisher cannot be verified. Click Install
this driver software anyway.
10. A transitory window appears, as the installation completes.
11. To finish installing, click Close.
Your modem is installed and ready to use.
After you have installed the modem, register the MT9234MU product. To do so, open an Internet
