Plug Valve Ports Before Shipping
Place in Labeled Zip Lock Bag
Subject: How to Return Beverage V alves
SYMPTOM
Valves being shipped back to the factory can come back full of
syrup, finger marks, and messy.
SCOPE
When valves are returned we perform an analysis on them to
determine the cause of failure. In order to properly analyze these
valves they need to be as clean as possible yet still in the same state
they were in when removed from the unit. Technicians need to
package returned valves better to prevent syrup from dripping
everywhere during shipping and allowing for easier inspection of the
valves upon arrival to the factory.

ACTION
Technicians should pu t plastic plugs on the two port s that go into the
back block and the two outlets in the front of the valve or some other
similar method of sealing that would keep the parts clean during
shipping. For example plastic taped over the ports would work as
well. Then package each valve individually in a zip lock style bag
and clearly label the bag with the valve information. This keeps syrup
from seeping from the valve and contaminating other valves or
returned parts.
Bag labels should include the following:
• Valve location S1, S2 etc..
• Serial Number
• Reason for return, Stuck Open, Stuck Closed, Flow Short, etc..
