handlinggasoline.Gasolineisextremelyflammableandthevaporsare
explosive.Seriouspersonalinjurycan occurwhengasolineisspilled
onyourselforyourclotheswhichcan ignite.Washyourskinand
changeclothesimmediately.
• Useonlyan approvedgasolinecontainer.
• Extinguishallcigarettes,cigars,pipesandothersourcesof
ignition.
• Neverfuelmachineindoors.
• Neverremovegascapor addfuelwhiletheengineishotor
running.
• Allowengineto coolat leasttwominutesbeforerefueling.
• Neveroverfill fueltank.Filltankto nomorethan1/2inchbelow
bottomoffillerneckto providespaceforfuelexpansion.
• Replacegasolinecapandtightensecurely.

Whenstartingengine,pullcord slowlyuntilresistanceis felt,then
pull rapidly.Rapidretractionof startercord(kickback)willpull

CLEARING A CLOGGED DISCHARGE CHUTE
Handcontactwiththe rotatingimpellerinsidethe dischargechute
is themostcommoncauseofinjuryassociatedwithsnowthrowers.
Neveruseyourhandtocleanoutthedischargechute.
Toclear thechute:
1. SHUTTHEENGINEOFF!
2. Wait 10secondstobe surethe impellerbladeshavestopped
rotating.
3. Alwaysusea clean-outtool,notyourhands.

regularly.Refertothe maintenanceandadjustmentsectionsof

• Beforecleaning,repairing,or inspectingmachinedisengageall

1. Removescrewsfromthebottomofthecratesecuringthesides,

Drift(:utters
The snow thrower drift cutters are mounted inverted at the factory
for shipping purposes.
1. Remove the four wing knobs (two on each side) and carriage bolts.
Place drift cutter in upright position and re-secure. See Fig.9.

• Refuelin awell-ventilatedareawiththe enginestopped.Do
notsmokeorallowflamesor sparksintheareawherethe
engineisrefueledor wheregasolineisstored.
• Donotoverfillthefuel tank.Afterrefueling,makesurethe
tankcapisclosedproperlyandsecurely.
• Becarefulnotto spillfuelwhenrefueling.Spilledfuelorfuel
vapormayignite.Ifany fuelisspilled,makesuretheareais
drybeforestartingtheengine.

instructedinthe Operationsectionofthis manual.Makesurethe
throttleis setintheFASTposition.
3. Whilestandingintheoperator'sposition(behindthesnow
thrower),engagetheauger.
4. Allowtheaugertoremainengagedforapproximatelyten(10)sec-
ondsbeforereleasingtheaugercontrol.Repeatthisseveraltimes.
NOTE:Whenengagingtheauger,youmayheara"chirp"sound.
Thisisnormal,itisthebeltengagingthepulley.Asthebeltwears,this
soundwillnotbeheardwhenengagingtheauger.
5. Withthethrottlecontrolinthe FAST(rabbit)positionandthe
augercontrolinthedisengaged"up"position,walktothe frontof
themachine.

showsNOsignsofmotion.IftheaugershowsANYsignsof

7. Afterengineis running,disconnectpowercordfromelectric
starter.Whendisconnecting,alwaysunplugtheendat thewall
