Decanter Care
Follow the instructions bek)w to reduce or eliminate the chance of breaking the decanter:
• This decanter is designed for use with your MR. COFFEE®coffeemaker and therefore
must never be used on a rangetop or in any oven, including a microwave oven.
• Do not set a hot decanter on a wet or cold surface.
• Do not use a cracked decanter or a decanter having a loose or weakened handle.
• Do not clean the decanter with abrasive cleaners, steel wool pads or other
abrasive materials.
• Discard the decanter immediately if it is ever boiled dry.
• Protect the decanter from sharp blows, scratches or rough handling.
Special Cord Set Instructions
1. A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting from a person
or pet burning entangled in, or tripping over a longer cord.
2. An extension cord may be purchased and used if care is exercised in its use.
3. If an extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the extension cord must
be at least 10 amps and 120 volts. The resulting extended cord must be arranged so
that it will not drape over a countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by childrer
or tripped over accidentally.
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce
the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the
plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact
a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way.

Introduction
Thank you for selecting the MR.COFFEE® Grind & Brew 12-Cup Coffeemaker with
a built-in coffee grinder. The MR. COFFEE® Grind & Brew autcwnatically grinds
beans and dispenses coffee into the filter before the brew cyde begins. The
Programmable Timer can be set up to 24 hours in advance to automatically grind
beans and freshly brew coffee any time of the day.
The Grind & Brew Coffeemaker also features a lid activated Pause 'n Serve dripstop valve that allows you up to 30 seconds to sneak a cup while the coffee is still
brewing, plus Two-hour Automatic Shut-Off and Power Loss Backup.
Please read ALL of the instmctions in this manual carefully before you begin to
use №is appliance. Proper care and maintenance will ensure a long life and a
trouble-free operation for this appliance.

Cleaning Your Coffeemaker Before Using
the First Time
Make sure your first cup of coffee is as good as can be by cleaning your
MR. COFFEE® Grind & Brew Coffeemaker before its first use. Just follow
these simple steps:
1. Remove the Grinding Chamber Assembly. To remove the assembly,
grab both sides of the grinding chamber just below the lid and lift up
and away from the coffeemaker.
2. Wash the decanter lid and the grinding chamber assembly in a mixture
of mild detergent and water. Rinse each thoroughly (please refer to
the parts diagram on page 6). The decanter lid and the grinding
chamber are both top rack dishwasher safe.
3. Replace all the parts and close the lid. Then follow Steps 3 through
5 in “Brewing Coffee Now: Using Pre-Ground Coffee" on page 11 to
clean the inside of your coffeemaker.
4. When brewing is complete, turn your coffeemaker off. Discard the
water in the decanter and rinse the decanter, decanter lid. filter basket
and grinder chamber assembly.
Your coffeemaker Is now ready to use.

Coffeemaker Features
Your new MR. COFFEE®coffeemaker has the following features:
• 12-cup Brewing Capacity
• Removable Filter Basket - The filter basket lifts out of the brew basket
for fast and easy cleaning and filling.
• Removable Grinding Chamber Assembly - The grinding chamber
assembly lifts out of the coffeemaker to allow you to clean it after use.
• Pause 'n Serve - Can't wait for the coffee to finish brewing? The Pause
'n Serve feature allows you up to 30 seconds to pour a cup of coffee
while the coffeemaker is still brewing.
• Dual Water Windows - Show amount of water in the reservoir for
accurate filling.
• Brew Strength Selector -Adjusts the brewing time to create a more
full-flavored coffee.
• Cord Storage - Safely stores excess cord to keep your countertop neat.
• Audible Ready Signal - Beeps three times to alert you when the
coffeemaker has finished the brew cycle.
• Indicator Lights - The indicator lights let you know when your
coffeemaker Is in “Grind & Brew" or “Brew Only" mode.
• Programmable Controls:
- Clock -The LCD clock serves as a handy kitchen clock and also
allows you to set the Delay Brew feature.
- Delay Brew - Would you like to wake up to a fresh pot of coffee?
The Delay Brew feature allows you to pre-set when you would like
the coffeemaker to brew your coffee automatically, up to 24 hours
in advance.
- Two-Hour Auto Shut-Off - Keeps your coffee hot for two hours
then automatically shuts off.
- Power Loss Backup -If the power supply is cut off, the clock will
save memory for up to five minutes, so there is no need to reset
the clock or Delay Brew after a brief power outage.
Note: If you select any of the operating functions during the first five minutes
of a power outage, the coffeemaker will act upon the last operation selected
when the power is restored.
Suggested Coffee Measurement Chart
For best results, use a level tablespoon of fresh coffee beans. When Using
pre-ground coffee, use a level tablespoon (tbsp) of drip grind or a grind
recommended for automatic drip coffeemakers.
1. Plug the power cord Into a standard electrical outlet.
2. Alternately press and hold the HOUR and MINUTE buttons until you
reach the current time. For your convenience, AM and PM indicators are
provided in the display.
To Set Delay Brew Time:
Simply press and hold the DELAY BREW button while setting the brew time
with the HOUR and MINUTE buttons until you reach the time that you want
to pre-set for brewing. The display will indicate the AM or PM brew time that
you have selected. See Figure 1.

Using the Brew Strength Selector
If you would like a more full-flavored coffee, press the BREW STRENGTH
selector button once before you begin brewing. The STRONG light will turn
on when it is set.
Brewing Coffee Now: Using Fresh Beans
1. Press the lid release button in front of the coffeemaker to open its lid.
Remove the grinding chamber assembly {see #1. page 5). Insert a MR.
COFFEE® brand 8-12 cup paper or permanent filter into the filter basket.
For best results, wet the edges of the paper filter and press it against the
sides of the filter basket to prevent filter collapse. Replace the filter basket
and the removable grinding chamber assembly.
2. Remove the grinding

once to set the coffeemaker
to GRIND & BREW.
The GRIND & BREW light
will turn on to signal that

operates for 45 seconds).

Note: For your safety, If the lid Is opened during the grind or brew
cycle, the coffeemaker will turn itself off. If this happens, you must
restart the grind cycle by pressing the SELECT button once or restart
the brew cycle by pressing the SELECT button twice.

6. The coffeemaker will automatically begin brewing when grinding is
complete, as Indicated by the lighting of the BREw ONLY light. The
Audible Ready Signal wilt beep three times when the brew cycle is
complete. The colfeemaker will automatically turn off after two hours. The
Brew Only light will remain on during this time.
7. Once you are done enjoying your coffee, open the top of the coffeemaker
and remove the removable grinding chamber assembly (see page 6).
Rinse to remove any coffee residue remainina. The removable grinding
chamber assembly is top rack dishwasher safe. See Figure 4.

8. Discard the used grounds by removing the filter basket. See Figure 5.
Rinse the filter basket and replace it. The filter basket is top rack dishwasher
safe.
Note: When you open the coffeemaker lid. the warming plate will turn off.
9. To make another pot of coffee, turn the coffeemaker off by pressing the
SELECT button until all operating lights are off. Repeat Steps 1 through 8.
10. Be sure to turn your coffeemaker off when no longer using it. Simply
press the SELECT button until all operating lights are off.
Brewing Coffee Later: Using Fresh Beans
1. Set the Delay Brew Time (see page 8).
2. Follow Steps 1 through 4 in the “Brewing Coffee Now: Using Fresh Beans'
section on page 9.
3. Press the DELAY BREW button until it is flashing. Press the SELECT
button once until the GRIND & BREW light turns on and the DELAY
BREW tight remains on but stops flashing. The coffeemaker is now set
to automatically grind and brew coffee at the pre-set time. See Figure 6.
You may select the brew strength at this time.
4. At the desired brewing time, the DELAY BREW light will turn off. The
coffeemaker will begin grinding the coffee. When grinding is complete,
the GRIND & BREW light will turn o^ and the BREW ONLY light will turn
on. indicating that the coffeemaker is brewing.
5. The Audible Ready Signal will beep three times when the brew cycle is
complete. The coffeemaker will automatically turn off after two hours.The
BREW ONLY light will remain on during this time.
6. This coffeemaker will NOT start again automatically the next day.
To reset DELAY BREW, repeat Steps 2 through 3 above.
Note: For your safety, If the lid is opened during the grind or brew
cycle, the coffeemaker will turn itself off. If this happens, you must
restart the grind cycle by pressing the SELECT button once or restart
the brew cycle by pressing the SELECT button twice.
Brewing Coffee Now: Using Pre-Ground Coffee
1. Press the lid release button in front of the coffeemaker to open its lid.
Remove the removable grinding chamber assembly (see #1, page 5).
Insert a MR. COFFEE® brand 8-12 cup paper filter or permanent filter
into the filter basket. For best results, wet the edges of the paper filter to
help prevent overflow.
2. Add the desired amount of coffee and shake slightly to level the coffee.
See the Suggested Coffee Measurement Chart on page 8. Be sure the
paper filter is properly centered. Replace the filter basket and the removable
grinding chamber assembly.
3. Fill the decanter with water to the desired capacity (1 cup equals 5 ounces).
4. Pour the water into the water resen/oir. See Figure 7. Close the lid and
place the empty decanter onto the warming plate.
