A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting
from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.

An extension cord may be purchased and used if care is exercised in
its use.

if an extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the extension cord must be at least 10 amps, 120 volts, and should be a grounding-type 3 wire cord.. The resulting extended cord must be arranged so that it will not drapeover the counter top or table top where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over

Before storing your coffeemaker, wind the cord and place it inside the hidden cord storage area located on the rear of the machine.
PRECAUTIONS WHEN USING THIS MACHINE
Do’s...
Avoid areas of the coffeemaker which may become hot or emit steam when the machine is “on”, particularly the filter basket and the water
reservoir.

Avoid jerking or straining the power cord when unplugging. Grasp the
molded plug to unplug.

Unplug the unit when not in use.
.
Unplug the unit and allow to cool before wiping the exterior. Use only a
damp cloth to wipe.

Place machine well back from edge of counter.

Avoid using chemically softened water. The use of chemically softened water can inhibit proper filtration. This will affect the beverage flavor and will cause a long drip time from the brew funnel.

DO NOT place a cloth or otherwise restrict airflow beneath the appli­ance.

DO NOT reheat a beverage by passing it through the brewing system.

DO NOT use abrasive or caustic cleaning compounds to clean the interior or exterior of the unit.

Make sure your first cup of coffee is as good as can be by cleaning your Mr. Coffee steps:

Your Mr. Coffee Before Using the
coffeemaker before you use it
Wash the pitcher and removable filter basket in a mixture of mild detergent and water. Rinse each thoroughly.
Replace the filter basket and then follow steps #4 through #6 in the ‘BREWING COFFEE’ section. This will clean the inside of your coffeemaker.
When the brew cycle is finished, turn your coffeemaker OFF. Discard the water and rinse the filter basket.

Brewing Coffee
1.
Open the lid by depressing the latch and rotating the lid back. Swing the spray head toward the back of the machine. Insert a Mr. Coffee A8 commercial paper filter into the black inner filter basket. Add desired amount of coffee according to the coffee measurement

Pour the water into the water reservoir. Be sure the paper filter is properly centered and the spray head is
5. centered over the basket. The lid will not properly latch unless the spray head is over the basket. Plug the cord into an electrical outlet and turn the ON/OFF switch to ON.
6. The “ON” light will illuminate. When Brew Ready light is ON, the brewing cycle is complete. Open lid, swing spray head toward the back of machine. Using the
7. grip tab and handle, remove the black filter basket to discard the used grounds and filter. Rinse the filter basket, replace filter basket and spray head.
Note:
Your coffeemaker (CK240 only) will automatically shut-off in 4 hours. To keep your coffee hot for an additional 4 hours, simply turn your coffeemaker ON/OFF switch to OFF and back ON again. Do not brew again until the coffee level indicator is empty. To

Cleaning Instructions
Your coffeemaker must be cleaned when you begin to notice excessive
steaming or the brewing time increases considerably. This condition is caused by a buildup of lime and mineral deposits from your water. If the pumping action stops before all the water has been pumped out of the machine, then the appliance requires cleaning.
The frequency of cleaning depends on the hardness of water used. The fol­lowing table gives the suggested cleaning intervals.

Your coffeemaker may be cleaned by using MR. COFFEE CLEANER or
vinegar. For best results, use MR. COFFEE CLEANER. It is superior to vine-
gar and has no unpleasant odor.
Using Mr. Coffee Cleaner
(Read caution statement on side panel of Mr. Coffee Cleaner box before use)
1.
Fill the pitcher with 8 - 10 pitcher cups of warm water.
2.
Empty contents of two packets of MR. COFFEE CLEANER into the pitcher and stir with a plastic or wooden spoon until the cleaner is completely dissolved.

Pour the blue solution into the coffeemaker.

The spray head should be positioned over the filter basket and the lid securely latched.
5.
Turn your coffeemaker ON.
6.
When the blue solution has stopped flowing, turn your coffeemaker OFF.
7.
Discard the blue solution from the coffee reservoir.
8.
Wash and rinse the coffee reservoir thoroughly using a soft cloth. Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners.
9.
Repeat steps #1 - #8 with clean water only (no blue solution). Continue to rinse out the unit until you see no remaining traces of the blue solution.

Pour 2 quarts of undiluted whii household vinegar into your coffeemaker.
