AWK-3131-M12-RCC
Quick Installation Guide
Moxa AirWorks
Second Edition, September 2014

Overview
Moxa’s new AWK-3131-M12-RCC is a 3-in-1 industrial AP/bridge/client
device designed specifically for rail carriage-to-carriage communication
and can provide up to 300 Mbps with IEEE 802.11n technology. The
AWK-3131-M12-RCC combines two adjacent 20 MHz channels into a
single 40 MHz channel to deliver a potent combination of greater
reliability and more bandwidth. The two redundant DC power inputs
increase the reliability of the power supply, and the AWK-3131-M12-RCC
can be powered via PoE to make deployment easier. The
AWK-3131-M12-RCC can operate on either the 2.4 or 5 GHz bands and is
backward-compatible with existing 802.11a/b/g deployments to
future-proof your wireless investments.

Installation and Configuration
Before installing the AWK-3131-M12-RCC, make sure that all items in the
Package Checklist are in the box. In addition, you will need access to a
notebook computer or PC equipped with an Ethernet port. The
AWK-3131-M12-RCC has a default IP address that you must use when
connecting to the device for the first time.
Step 1: Select the power source
The AWK-3131-M12-RCC can be powered by a DC power input or PoE
(Power over Ethernet). The AWK-3131-M12-RCC will use whichever
power source you choose.
Step 2: Connect the AWK-3131-M12-RCC to a notebook or
PC
Since the AWK-3131-M12-RCC supports MDI/MDI-X auto-sensing, you

Set an IP address on the same subnet as the AWK-3131-M12-RCC. Since
the AWK-3131-M12-RCC’s default IP address is 192.168.127.253, and
the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, you should set the IP address of the
computer to 192.168.127.xxx and subnet mask to 255.255.255.0.
Step 4: Use the web-based manager to configure
AWK-3131-M12-RCC
Open your computer’s web browser and then type
http://192.168.127.253 in the address field to access the homepage
