Overview
The ABC-01-P-M12 is designed for system backup and restoration to
enhance maintenance efficiency and reduce system downtime in railway
applications, including rolling stock and wayside installations. The
ABC-01-P-M12 Automatic Backup Configurator tool can be used to save
and load the configuration of Moxa’s ToughNet (TN) managed Ethernet
switches and wireless APs/bridges/clients through the RS-232 console
port. The ABC-01-P-M12 can be continuously plugged into Moxa’s
Ethernet switches and wireless APs/bridges/ clients while the devices are
operating, and makes it easier to back up system parameters and
manage configurations. With the ABC-01-P-M12, you can quickly
configure a replacement switch (of the same model).

Product Installation
The ABC-01-P-M12 is designed solely for use with an RS-232 serial port.
To use the ABC-01-P-M12, simply plug it into the M12 console port of your
Moxa TN managed switch. Refer to the Product Operation section for
instructions on how to save and load the configuration.
Please check firmware release notes on Moxa’s website to obtain
the most up-to-date firmware version for the ABC-01-P-M12.
Product Operation
Save a switch’s configuration to the ABC-01-P-M12
Use the switch’s web console to save the switch’s configuration to the
ABC-01-P-M12. This function can be found under “Basic Settings/System
File Upgrade/Backup Media” in the web console.
Load the configuration from the ABC-01-P-M12 to the switch
There are two ways to load the configuration from the ABC-01-P-M12 to a
Moxa TN-series managed switch:
1. Load Automatically
When the ABC-01-P-M12 is plugged in, the switch will automatically
load the configuration from the ABC-01-M12 after the switch
reboots. This function can be disabled through the web console
under “Basic Settings/System File Upgrade/Backup Media,” or
through the Telnet console under “Basic Settings/Backup Media.”
2. Load Manually
When the ABC-01-P-M12 is plugged in, the configuration can be
loaded manually through the switch’s web console under “Basic
Settings/System File Upgrade/Backup Media.”
For further details on the ABC-01-P-M12 operation through the
switch’s web console, please refer to the switch’s user manual.
