Choose carefully
2013.01.31 FCC
Apps are great. There's something for
everyone. Play, communicate, work, or have
fun. But remember, choose your apps carefully.
Here are a few tips:
• To help prevent spyware, phishing, or viruses
from affecting your phone or privacy, use
apps from trusted sites, like the Google Play
Store.
•In the Google PlayStore,check the app’s
ratings and comments beforeinstalling.
•If you doubt the safety of an app, don't install
it.
•Likeall apps,downloadedapps will use up
memory, data, battery, andprocessing power—some more thanothers. For example,a simple battery levelwidgetwilluse less than a streamingmusic player app. After installinganapp, if you'renot happywith howmuch memory, data, battery orprocessing power it'susing, uninstall it.Youcanalways install it again later.
•Just like web browsing, youmaywantto
monitor children’s access to apps to helpprevent exposure toinappropriate content.
•Certain appsmaynot provide completely
accurate information. Take care, especially
when it comes to personal health.
