1. Getting started
WARNING
Do not place your phone in the bathroom or other humid area.
Location
When choosing a location for your new phone, here are some important guidelines you should consider:
• Avoid sources of noise and heat, such as motors, fluorescent lighting, microwave ovens, heating appliances and direct sunlight.
• Avoid areas of excessive dust, moisture and low temperature.
• Avoid other cordless telephones or personal computers.
• Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.
• Never install telephone jacks in wet locations unless the jack is specifically designed for wet locations.
• Never touch non-insulated telephone wires or terminals, unless the telephone line has been disconnected at the network interface.
• Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines.
HANDSET RANGE
Optimal range is reached when there are no other electrical appliances working within the range area. Any obstruction between the base and handset will also reduce the range significantly.
SIGNAL STRENGTH
When out of range of the corded base, the screen shows
OUT OF RANGE
. If you are on a call, the line will hang up. Move back within range. The cordless handset will automatically re­connect to the corded base.
Setting up
IMPORTANT
The base must be plugged into an electrical outlet at all times. Do not connect the telephone line cord to the telephone wall jack until the handset is fully charged. Only use the adapter and telephone line cord supplied with the product.
WHICH POWER ADAPTER?
The power adapter with the smaller pin is for the base unit and the power adapter with the larger pin is for the charger unit (only for multi-handset packs).

1.1 Connecting the base
1. Plug the power adapter and the telephone line cord into the base. The power adapter
with the larger pin is for the charger (only in multi-handset packs).
2. Plug the other end of the power adapter into a power outlet and the telephone line cord into a telephone wall jack. If you have DSL high speed internet service, a DSL filter (not included) is required.
3. Use only the provided power adapter.

wall switch.

1. Slide off the battery compartment cover to remove it. Place the supplied rechargeable
battery pack in the battery compartment, with the battery connector plugged in, as shown.
2. Slide the battery compartment cover back on.
3. Put the handset on the base to charge for at least 24 hours. Once charged, the will
indicate that the handset is fully charged.
IMPORTANT
Use only the rechargeable battery pack provided with the product.

Get acquainted with the following 14 buttons on your handset and their multi-function tasks.

4 SKIP
Press to skip the current message and play the next message.

Press to play the message. Press to stop the message playback.

Press once to delete the message during playback. Press and hold to delete all the messages in idle mode.
Note: New voice messages will not be deleted.

XX Flashing: There are XX new voice messages received where XX is from 01 to
59 or when playing new messages.
Steady: Playing the current XX incoming old message.
XX/FF Flashing XX alternatively with FF: There are XX new voice messages received
where XX is from 01 to 59 and the answering machine memory is full.
Flashing FF only: The answering machine is full and only old voice messages are being stored in the answering machine memory.
--/XX Flashing XX alternatively with --: Time is not set and there are XX new voice messages received where XX is from 01 to 59.
Flashing -- only: Time is not set and there are only old voice messages in the answering machine memory.
YY Steady: There are YY old voice messages (no new voice messages).

3.1 Making a call
3.1.1 Predial
Enter the phone number and then press /FLASH or /SPEAKER to dial the phone number.
3.1.2 Direct dialing Press /FLASH or /SPEAKER to get a line and enter the phone number.

1. Press and then VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to scroll and select the entry you want to
dial.

3.2 Muting a call
1. During a call, press MUTE to mute the microphone, so that you can talk to someone
else in the room without your caller hearing you.
2. Press MUTE again to unmute.
3.3 Answering a call
Press /FLASH or /SPEAKER to answer an the incoming call.
3.4 Ending a call
During a call, press /BACK or put the handset on the base.
3.5 Adjusting the volume
During a call, press VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to adjust the volume.

3.6 Call waiting
If you subscribe to call waiting service from your telephone service provider, you hear a tone if someone calls when you are already on a call.
Press FLASH to put your current call on hold and take the new call.
Press FLASH at any time to switch back and forth between calls.
3.7 Redialing the last number
You can redial up to 5 of the last numbers called. Each number can have a maximum of 32 digits. If the redial number exceeds 15 digits, the telephone will only display the first 15 digits of the number. If you have stored a name in the directory to match the number, the name will be displayed instead. The most recent last number will display at the top of the redial list.
3.7.1 Redialing a number from the redial list
1. In idle mode, press REDIAL/VOL- to access the redial list.
2. Press VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to scroll to the desired redial number.
3. Press /FLASH or /SPEAKER to dial to the displayed redial number.
3.7.2 Storing a redial number into the phonebook

3.8 Phonebook
You phone can store up to 30 entries with names and numbers. Each phonebook entry can have a maximum of 24 digits for the phone number and 16 characters for the name. Phonebook entries are stored alphabetically by name.

TIP
Instead of scrolling to browse phonebook entries, press the numeric key corresponding to the first letter of the entry you wish to locate. For example, pressing 2 will show the entries starting with A. Pressing 2 again will show the entries starting with B, etc.
3.9 Speed dial
You can store up to 9 numbers in the speed dial locations. Each speed dial location can have a maximum of 24 digits for the number and 16 characters for the name. This feature makes it convenient when you want to dial a certain number more quickly.
3.9.1 Reviewing the entry in a speed dial location
1. Press MENU.
2. Press VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to select
PHONEBOOK
. Press SELECT, and the first entry
will be displayed on the screen.
3. Press SELECT then VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to select
SPEED DIAL

4. Press SELECT and then VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to select the desired speed dial key from key (1-9).
5. Press SELECT. The screen will show the speed dial entry in the selected speed dial location.
3.9.2 Storing an entry to a speed dial location

NOTE

3.9.3 Dialing the entry from a speed dial location
1. Press /FLASH or /SPEAKER.
2. Press and hold the desired speed dial key location (1-9) to dial the speed dial number.

3.10 Memory
You can store up to 3 numbers in the memory locations (M1, M2, M3
). Each memory location can have a maximum of 24 digits for the number and 15 characters for the name. This feature makes it convenient when you want to dial a certain number more quickly. All direct access memory records will remain after resetting.
3.10.1 Storing a memory number
1. In idle mode, use the dialing keys (0-9) to enter the number you want to store in the
memory location.
2. Press and hold the desired memory location that does not store any number. The
screen will display “ENTER NUMBER” and will show the number.
3. Press SELECT to save.
NOTES
• Press CLEAR to delete a digit.
• Press VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to move the cursor to the left or right.
NOTE
If the number you entered exceeds 24, you will hear an error tone.
3.10.2 Reviewing a memory number
1. Press and hold the desired memory location, and the screen will display the number
stored in there.
NOTE
If no number is stored in the location, the display will show “ENTER NUMBER”.
3.10.3 Dialing from the memory
In idle mode:
1. Press the desired memory location key to dial the number stored in that memory

3.11 Caller ID
If you have subscribed to Caller ID service, and provided the identity of the caller is not withheld, the number of the caller will be displayed together with the date and time of the call (if provided by the network).

3.11.1 Calls List
The calls list contains details of missed and received calls,including the date and time of the call. Entries are displayed in chronological order with the most recent call at the top of the list.
NOTES
• When the calls list is full, a new call replaces the oldest one in the list.
• Details of up to 30 calls may be stored.
• If you receive more than one call from the same number, only the most recent call is kept in the calls list. When you have missed calls (incoming calls that you haven’t answered) the icon will be displayed in the display on all handsets registered to the base. If one handset is used to view the calls log, the icon on the other handsets remains on (for multi-pack use only).

Press MUTE/CLEAR or /BACK to go back to the previous menu level or cancel an action.
If you do not press any button on the handset for 30 seconds, the display will automatically return to standby. It will also return to standby when the handset is placed on the base or charger.
3.13 Intercom
This feature is only available when there are at least two registered handsets. It allows you to make internal calls, transfer external calls from one handset to another, and use the conference option.
3.13.1 Calling another handset
1. Press /FLASH then MENU. Except for the originating handset, all registered
handsets will be displayed in the list.
2. Press VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to select the handset you want to call.
3. Press SELECT to call the handset.
4. Press /BACK to hang up.
NOTE
If the handset is not within the valid operating range, this function may not be available. During an intercom call, you will hear an alert tone if there is an incoming external call. You need to press /BACK to hang up the intercom call before answering the incoming external call.
3.13.2 Transferring a call to another handset
1. During an external call, press /FLASH then MENU. All registered handsets will be
displayed in the list. Your call is put on hold.
2. Press VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to select the handset you want to call.
3. Press SELECT to call the handset.
4. When the other handset answers by pressing /FLASH or /SPEAKER, press
/BACK to transfer the call. If the other handset does not answer, press MUTE to
talk to your caller again.
3.13.3 Three-party conference calls
1. During an external call, press /FLASH then MENU. All registered handsets will be
displayed in the list. Your caller is put on hold.
2. Press VOL+ or REDIAL/VOL- to select the handset you want to call.

4. When the other handset answers the intercom call, press SELECT on the calling
handset to set up the conference call.
5. Press /BACK on any handset to end a three-party conference call and leave the other handset engaged with the caller.

During an external call, pressing /FLASH or /SPEAKER on any handset will join in the call and set up a conference call.

4. Answering machine
This phone is equipped with an answering machine that records unanswered calls when it is switched on. The screen message counter (two digits) seven segment display on the base will show the number of the messages when the answering machine is on. The answering machine can store up to 59 messages within the maximum recording time of approximately 15 minutes. Besides recording incoming messages, you can record memos for other users of your phone.
If the answering machine memory is full, “F” will display on the message counter on the base and “MEMORY FULL” will display on the handset screen.
NOTE
Your answering machine is designed to answer calls after 10 rings when it is switched off. This is to enable you to operate the remote access functions of your answering machine in the event your answering machine is switched off.
4.1 Turning the answering machine on/off
You can turn the answering machine on or off through the base or handset. When the answering machine is set to ON, calls will be answered after the set answer delay and the caller can then leave you a message. When the answering machine is set to OFF, calls will be answered after 10 rings and the answer only message will be played to your callers. They will not be able to leave you a message.
4.1.1 Through the base:
1. Press on the base.
• If the answering machine is set to ON, displays on the handset LCD and the 7- segment LED on the base will display the number of incoming messages.
• If the answering machine is set to OFF, will disappear from the handset screen and the 7-segment LED on the base will display --.

When new messages are recorded on the answering machine, flashes on the handset display and the message counter on the base flashes with the number of new messages on the answering machine until all the new messages are played. Old messages will be played after all new messages are played completely. The message counter LED stays steady to indicate the number of old messages stored in the answering machine.
