Talk About radios have a backlit display for usage in low-light
conditions. T o activate the Light, press the Light button. T he
light will t urn on f or f ive seconds. Pressing any other buttons on
the r adio will ext end the period o f tim e the dis play is ba cklit.

Scan allows you to monitor the radio’s channels and code. When
the radio detects channel activity on your radio’s code, it stops
Scanning and locks in on the active channel. It allows you to
listen and talk back automatically to the person transmitting
without having to switch channels.
The Scan function is user adjustable to monitor either selected
Interference Eliminator Codes, all Interference Eliminator Codes,
or all frequency usage.
Note:
• To communicate in selected Interference Eliminator Code
Scan, your radio must be set to the same code as the other
radio(s) in your group. If your radio is set to a different code,
the S can fea tur e in t his sett ing will n ot dete ct c han nel activ ity in
your group.
• When selected Scan type is all Interference Eliminator Codes,
you will hear all chann el ac tivit y except fro m ra dios without
codes (CSQ). T o hear uncoded radios, set the Scan type to
setting 3 to hear all Interference Eliminator Codes and CSQ.

code setting. T o change the primary channel or code, first
disable Scan operation by pressing the Scan button again.
Call ( TalkAbout SLK 200 only)
The TalkAbout SLK 200 has 9 user-selectable call alert tones
to alert other radio users to an incoming message and identify
the t ransmit ting r adio. Othe r ra dio user s will h ear your call

alert tone before receiving the incoming message. To use the
call feature, press the Call Button before pressing the Push-ToTalk button.
