Congratulations on your purchase of a Motoro la EXPRESS alphanumeric pager. This compact pager incorporates many advances in electronic, mi­crominiaturization and wireless technology. The

EXPRESS pager allows you to receive alphanu­meric messages (words and numbers) instantly and affordably.
This user’s guide explains how to operate your pager, and prov id es suggestions for first-time a s well as expe­rienced pager users. Familiarity with the user’s guide assures you get the most from your pager. Keep it handy for quick refer ence.
OPERATING YOUR
When someone needs to contact you, a call to your paging service or phone generates a radio signal that sends messages directly to your pager. This signal carries alpha and numeric informa­tion that can only be receiv ed when your pager is on.

SETTING YOUR PAGER’S PLEASING ALERTS
You can set your one of four musical alerts or one stan dard beep alert.

You can set your pager to alert with either an audible (pleasing alert), a vibrate (vibrat ion with no beep t one ), or a chirp alert (short beep tone).

You can lock up to three messages so they will not be erased or replaced by new messages. The message that you wish to lock/unlock must be displayed on the screen.

Follow the instructions under “Sett ing the Clock and the Date” to set the “turn on” and “turn off” times. The left series of digits are the “t urn on” time . The right s eries of digits are the “turn off” time.
Notes: Only the “hour” can be selected and set for automatic o n/off. Whe n operating in t he automa tic on/off mode, the pager can sti ll be manually turned on and off.

EXPRESS pager can help you keep in contact with everyone important to you . . . children or child care providers, business off i c e, data serv ices, and voice ma il. Be su re that your ch ildren’s s chool, p hysician, and frien ds have the number s o that you can be con ­tacted in em erg e ncie s.
Give your pager number to family, friends, and associ­ates to assure contact at any time, any place. When calling your pager number, they enter the numbe r where they can be reached on a t one-type keypad. This nu m­ber is then displayed on your

EXPRESS pager.
Software progr ams used o n a per sonal com puter along with a modem or stand-alone page-entry device allow you to receive or send alphanumeric messages. For example, your children can page you wit h the me ssage “At Jimmy’s 555-1234.” You would know where your children are and the ph one num ber in c ase you need to contact them. Contact your service provider or local software outlet for alpha-entry opt ions.
If you have a cellular phone, give your pager number instead of your cellular number. Then you can decide who to call back on your cellular phone, without pay ing for incoming cellular calls. The

BATTERY INFORMATION
Time of Da y /Day and Mo n th: The tim e of day and the
date and month are displayed whether the pager is on or off.
User Selectab le Pleasi ng Al erts : When t he pager is in the audible alert mode and a message is received, the pager alerts with a pleasing musical sound.
Message Lock: Up to three messages can be locked so that they will not be removed from memory.
Automatic Reset: Pager aler ts automatically stop even if you do not press an y of the pager ’s but t ons.
Reminder Chirp: The pager chirps or vibrates every two minutes unti l you read al l unread me ssag es.
Low-Battery Indicator: When the battery is nearing the end of its life, the low-battery symbol ó is dis­played and the pager gives a 2-second alert. Replace the battery within five days after the first appeara nce of the low-battery indicator.
Endless Line Display (Scroll): Messages automat­ically scroll across the screen until the entire message is displayed.

Automatic On /Off: The pager can be set to turn on a nd turn off at pre-selected t im es.

size alkaline battery. To install the battery , hold the pager in bot h hands an d
use your thumbs to press down on the battery door. Slide the door until its locking tabs release. Continue sliding the door until it is free of the housing. Align the battery so the positive (+) and negative (–) markings match the direction of the polarity markings. Insert the battery. To replace the battery door, align the grooves on the battery door with the grooves on the front and back housing. Slide t he battery door until it is fully closed and a “click” is heard. The batt ery door is self- lo cking.

The

EXPRESS pager is durable, reliable, and can provide years of dependable service, but it is a precision electronic product. Water and moisture, ex­cessive heat, and extreme shock may damage the pager. Do not expose your pa ger to these conditions .
CLEANING YOUR Memo EXPRESS PAGER
To clean smudges and grime from the exterior of the
Memo
EXPRESS pager, use a soft , no n-abrasive cloth moistened in a mild soap and water solution. Use a second cloth moistened in clean water to wipe the surface clean. Do not immerse in water. Do not use alcohol or other cleaning solutions.

EXPRESS pager, properly handled, is ca­pable of many years of trouble- free operation.
