INSTRUMENTS. THE USE WITH OTHER INSTRUMENTS WILL DAMAGE THE M-CAN; ALL GUARANTEE CLAIMS
BECOME INVALID. THEREFORE A CHANGE OF A DEFECT M-CAN IS ONLY POSSIBLE IF THE USED MOTOGADGET
INSTRUMENT WILL BE SEND TOGETHER WITH THE DEFECT M-CAN. MOTOGADGET ACCEPTS NO LIABILITY FOR
DIRECT OR INDIRECT DAMAGE OR SUBSEQUENT DAMAGE OF ANY KIND RESULTING FROM THE USE,
INSTALLATION OR CONNECTION OF THE M-CAN OR OTHER DELIVERED EQUIPMENT. THIS EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY
PARTICULARLY INCLUDES DAMAGE TO PERSONS, MATERIAL LOSSES AND FINANCIAL DAMAGES. THE USE OF THE
DEVICE IN AREAS OF PUBLIC TRAFFIC IS UNDERTAKEN AT THE USER'S OWN RISK.

Application area

m-CAN connects all instruments of the motoscope series from motogadget directly to the OBD Interface of Harley Davidson, model year
2004 and up. Installation and connection of additional sensors or other equipment is no longer necessary.

Connection

Connect m-CAN and motoscope cable colours as shown in the table below. Connect the cables properly with a solder, a crimp or a plug
and socket connection. Make sure the insulation of the connection is adequate. A weak insulation may wear due to vibration. An
inaccurate connection or insulation can cause a short circuit or a malfunction of the motoscope.

An additional feature of m-CAN is its output for the vehicle warning lamp. As long as an error code is set, the blue cable of m-CAN will
drain to battery ground. At this cable you can connect a light bulb with max. 0,5W, a LED with series resistor or directly an indicator light
of the motogadget indicator light series (motosign, HD handlebar clamp). If the Output is activated by the m-CAN, the connected light will
flash.

Attention! Connecting m-CAN’s blue cable straight to +12V will destroy this output.

Installation

Locate the “Data Link” interface connector. It is located under your seat or behind the side cover, depending on model and year
For the place of attachment consider a sufficient distance to hot engine or exhaust parts (max. ambient temperature in operation is 85°C).

Attach the m-CAN with cable ties at the wiring loom or a frame tube. Install the cable for the motoscope along the vehicle harness. A
sufficient strain relief and bend protection of the cables is important. At mechanically stressed areas an additional insulating may be

necessary to prevent cable damage. Mechanical forces (pull, push or shock) act on the device must be avoided. If the installation
electrical connection to the instrument is finished, plug m-CAN’s connector into the “Data Link” interface.

Instrument Setup

Please adjust following settings: ImpW=4, ImpE=1 and Circ=2000mm.

EINGESCHICKT WERDEN. MOTOGADGET ÜBERNIMMT KEINERLEI HAFTUNG FÜR DIREKTE ODER INDIREKTE
SCHÄDEN ODER FOLGESCHÄDEN ALLER ART, DIE DURCH DIE VERWENDUNG, DEN ANBAU ODER DEN ANSCHLUSS
DES GERÄTES ODER DES MITGELIEFERTEN ZUBEHÖRS ENTSTEHEN. DARUNTER FALLEN UNTER ANDEREM ALLE
SCHÄDEN AN PERSONEN, SACHSCHÄDEN UND FINANZIELLE SCHÄDEN. SPEZIELL DIE VERWENDUNG IM BEREICH
DES ÖFFENTLICHEN STRAßENVERKEHRS ERFOLGT AUF EIGENE GEFAHR.

Anwendungsbereich

Mit Hilfe des m-CAN können Geräte der motoscope Serie von motogadget direkt mit der OBD Schnittstelle von Harley Davidson ab
Baujahr 2004 verbunden werden. Der Anbau und Anschluss von Sensoren entfällt.

Anschluss

Verbinden Sie die Kabelfarben von m-CAN und motoscope wie in der Tabelle dargestellt. Führen Sie den elektrischen Anschluss durch
eine Löt-, Crimp-, oder Steckverbindung sachgerecht aus. Achten Sie auf eine ausreichende Isolation der Verbindungsstelle. Eine
ungeeignete Isolation kann durch Vibration im laufe der Zeit durchscheuern. Eine fehlerhafte elektrische Verbindung oder Kabelisolation
kann einen Kurzschluss verursachen oder die Funktion des Gerätes beeinträchtigen.

Eine Zusatzfunktion des m-CAN stellt sein Ausgang für die Fahrzeugwarnlampe dar. Liegt ein Fehler vor, wird das blaue Kabel des m­CAN nach Masse durchgeschaltet. An dieses Kabel kann eine Glühbirne mit max. 0,5W, eine LED mit Vorwiderstand oder direkt eine
Kontrolllampe aus der motogadget Kontrolllampenserie (z.B. motosign, HD Lenkerklemme, Buell Lenkerklemme usw.) geschaltet
werden. Wird dieser Ausgang vom m-Can aktiviert, blinkt die angeschlossene Lampe.

Kabels mit +12V zerstört diesen Ausgang.

Achtung! Direkter Kontakt des blauen

Anbau

Lokalisieren Sie den „Data Link“ Stecker ihres Fahrzeugs. Der Stecker kann sich modellabhängig unter der der Sitzbank oder hinter dem
Seitendeckel befinden. Verbinden Sie den Stecker des m-CAN nach erst dem Anschluss mit dem Instrument mit dem Steckverbinder am
Fahrzeug.

Achten Sie bei der Auswahl des Montageortes des m-CAN auf ausreichenden Abstand von heißen Motor/Auspuffteilen (max.
Temperatur im Betrieb 85°C). Befestigen Sie den m-C AN mit Kabelbindern am Kabelbaum oder Rahmenrohr. Verlegen Sie das lange
Ausgangskabel für das motoscope entlang des Fahrzeugkabelbaums. Wichtig ist eine ausreichende Zugentlastung und Knickschutz der
Anschlusskabel. An mechanisch beanspruchten Stellen muss eine zusätzliche Ummantelung verwendet werden um eine Beschädigung
der Kabelisolation zu verhindern. Es dürfen keine mechanischen Belastungen auf das Gerät einwirken (Zug-, Druck-, Stoßbelastungen).

Einstellungen am Instrument

Stellen Sie folgende Parameter im Setup Ihres Instrumentes ein: ImpW=4, ImpE=1 und Circ=2000mm.
