MOTION PRO FORK SPRING COMPRESSOR KIT

P/N 08-0299, 08-0300 & 08-0301

Designed to install fork caps on 39mm & 41mm fork tubes

NOTE

The use of a full face shield is rec ommended, eye protection is requir ed. Fork tube springs are under ex treme pressure
and improper use of this tool could result in injury and/or death.

To remove and install fork nut and fork caps from 39mm & 41mm forks:

1. Secure motorcycle to the motorcycle lift and raise front wheel off the ground. Remove front wheel. Refer to
service manual for the wheel removal procedure.

2. Remove front fender and c aliper or calipers. Sec ure caliper or caliper s so they will not com e in contact with any
painted or chrome surfaces. Some models may require the handle bars to be loosened as well.

NOTE: One fork leg must always be held securely in place between the top and lower triple-tree while
servicing the adjacent fork leg.

3. Loosen the pinch bo lts on the lo wer and upper tr iple tree of the fork leg being service d, making sur e not to a llow
the leg to fall. If working on a 41mm fork leg it will be necessary to remove the fork nut.

4. Slide the fork leg being service d down so that th e top of the f ork tube is ¾”-1” above the lower triple-tree. T ighten
the lower triple-tree pinch bolt.

5. Install the Jack Sc rew [MP #08-0302] into th e a ppropr iate spac er. F or 41m m fork legs, use Spacer [MP#08-0304]
and for 39mm fork legs use Spacer [M P#08-0303]. Next, inst all the Jack Screw [MP#08-0 302] with appropriate
spacer attached into the top triple-tree from the bottom.

6. Place the appropriate Fork Cap Socket onto the low er end of the Jack Screw [MP#08-0302]. For 41m m fork legs
use Fork Cap Socket [MP#08-0305] and for 39mm fork legs use Fork Cap Socket [MP#08-0139]. Once the
correct fork cap s ocket is ins talled begin t o screw down the Jack Screw [MP #08-0302] f rom above the top of the
triple tree.

7. Once the Fork Cap Sock et is positioned just above th e top of the fork cap, loose n the lower triple-tr ee pinch bolt
and slide the fork leg up into the f ork cap socket. Tighten the lower pinch bo lt. Now loosen the fork cap with a
wrench on the top of the Jack Screw [MP#08-0302].

To install a fork cap reverse the procedure.
