Power supply
Battery operation
1 Remove the battery compartment door.
2 Insert 8 UM-1 D size batteries into the battery compartment with
battery polarity positioned as indicated.
• We recommend use of alkaline batteries.
3 Close the battery compartment door.
Mains operation
Plug the mains power cord into the AC socket and then into any normal
household mains outlet.
Radio operation
Set FUNCTION switch (2) to the radio position.
FM stereo band
Select FM ST. mode with the BAND SELECTOR switch. Turn the TUNING KNOB
to select the desired station. The FM stereo indicator will light up to show
a FM stereo broadcast is being received. Fully extend the FM antenna and
adjust its direction for best FM reception.
Medium wave band
Select MW mode with the BAND SELECTOR switch. Turn the TUNING KNOB to
select the desired station. For medium wave reception the signal is
recieved by a built-in aerial which is directional. Therefore, the set should
be positioned for the best signal strength.
Cassette operation
Playing a cassette
Tighten any slack tape in the cassette before use, using either a pencil or
pen by simply inserting into the centre of the spool and rotating.

• Press PAUSE to pause. Press PAUSE again to resume playing.
Rewind
To rewind the tape press REWIND when the tape is stopped, the button will
stay down and the tape will completely rewind. Press STOP/EJECT at any
time to stop rewinding.
Fast forward
To fast forward the tape press FAST FORWARD when the tape is stopped, the
button will stay down and the tape will fast forward until the end of the
tape. Press STOP/EJECT at any time to stop fast forwarding.
Auto-stop
When the tape reaches the end during playback or recording, the built-in
auto-stop system will release the depressed keys. If recording from the
built-in radio or CD player, only the cassette is brought to a stop and the
radio or CD will continue to play.
• There is no auto-stop on cassette fast forward and rewind.
Recording
1 Install a cassette tape.
2 Set
3 After recording the broadcast, press
STOP/EJECT to open the cassette door. Insert the cassette into the
compartment with the open end facing upwards and the full reel on the
right hand side, push the cassette well down and close the door, be
sure not to touch the tape surface.
CASSETTE PLAY.
STOP/EJECT once. To release the cassette, press
STOP/EJECT again.
FUNCTION SWITCH (2) to the radio position. After selecting the desired
band, tune using the tuning knob (11) to desired radio station. Push
down RECORD button (9) and PLAY (8) simultaneously.
STOP/EJECT (5) lightly, and then set
FUNCTION SWITCH to the cassette (off) and rewind in order to listen to the
recorded broadcast.
