FEATURES AND FUNCTIONS
Earphone socket
¤ HOLD switch: locks keypad and prevents any unintended pressing of
buttons
POWER button: press and hold to turn player ON or OFF
LCD display
+ or - button: press to adjust volume UP and DOWN or scroll list of
options
SELECT M MENU button: in MP3 player, DAB radio or FM radio
mode, press and hold to see main menu. In MENU mode press and
hold to return to MP3 player, DAB radio or FM radio mode
or button: press to move to previous or next service/music
track, or press and hold to manually find the next FM radio station
· PLAY P PRESET button: In DAB radio mode press to access Presets.
In FM radio mode press and hold to scan and set Presets. In MP3
player mode, press to START or STOP playing.

GETTING STARTED
• Install batteries.
• Plug in earphones (earphones are also used as an aerial).
Press and hold POWER. The 29200/201 switches on in the previous
use mode: DAB radio, FM radio, or MP3 player (in MP3 mode press
PLAY P PRESET to play).
Adjust volume using + or –. The range is 0 to 30.
CHANGE MODE
Press and hold SELECT M MENU to view menu.
• Use or to highlight MP3, DAB or FM and press SELECT M
MENU.
MP3 player
Press PLAY P PRESET to play MP3 track.
Press or to play previous or next MP3 track.
DAB radio
Press or to view DAB stations and press SELECT M MENU
to confirm selection.
FM radio
Press or to change FM radio station.
Press and hold PLAY P PRESET to scan for FM radio channels.

MP3 PLAYER
Please note the 29200/201:
Only plays MP3 files.
Supports two levels of directory navigation.
After MP3 music has stopped, the player automatically switches the
power OFF if there is no key input for 3 minutes.
GETTING STARTED
Plug in the earphones (earphones are also the aerial).
Press and hold POWER to turn the player on (the player remembers the
mode it was in when switched off), the MP3 player recalls the last music
file played.
Adjust volume using + or -
Press the + or -button to increase the volume by 1 step, or hold the
button to increase the volume continuously. The range is 0 to 30.
Press PLAY P PRESET to stop or start playing.
MUSIC SELECTION
NEXT OR PREVIOUS MUSIC TRACK
Press or to play the previous or next music track.
CHOOSE MUSIC TRACK
Press SELECT M MENU to list the music tracks on the current music
directory, use + or – to scroll list and SELECT M MENU to play track
highlighted.
CHANGE MUSIC DIRECTORY
Press SELECT M MENU followed by to list music directories. Use +
or – to scroll list and SELECT M MENU to open directory, + or – to scroll
list of music tracks and SELECT M MENU to play track highlighted.
ERASING FILES
Press SELECT M MENU, use + or - to scroll list of music tracks,
press and hold for FILE ERASER, then to select YES or NO to
erase the music track.

MP3 PLAYER FUNCTION MENU
Press and hold SELECT M MENU in the normal operation status to
view Menu. Use + or - to scroll options and SELECT M MENU to
confirm selection.
DAB Radio: press SELECT M MENU
MP3 Player: press SELECT M MENU
MOD Press SELECT M MENU for PLAY MODE menu
REPEAT
• If the REPEAT mode is not checked, the 29200/201 will play all the
music tracks in the play block and stop.
If the REPEAT mode is checked, the 29200/201 will play all the
music tracks in the play block repeatedly. Press SELECT M MENU to
check box.
SHUFFLE
If the SHUFFLE mode is not checked, the 29200/201 will play all
music tracks in the play block sequentially.
If the SHUFFLE mode is checked, the 29200/201 will randomly play
all music tracks in the play block. Press SELECT M MENU to check
box.
PLAY BLOCK
• Scroll options using or and SELECT M MENU to confirm
selection:
• ONE : play one music track.
DIR : play all the music tracks in the current directory.
ALL : play all the music tracks in the 29200/201 player.
CTL Press SELECT M MENU for DISPLAY
CONTROL menu
In DISPLAY CONTROL menu scroll options using or and
SELECT M MENU to confirm:
ID3 TAG music play screen
ON: display music track title & artist on third line
OFF: only display the music track name.
VIEW TIME
Play time of music track or
Time remaining of music track playing.

BACK LIGHT
The LCD display has a Back light, which illuminates the display when
a key is pressed. You can change the time period before the Back light
switches off using this menu. The LCD display Back light has 4 settings.
To change the setting press SELECT M MENU, use +/- and or
to scroll options and SELECT M MENU to confirm:
OFF: Back light is always off
1 SEC: Back light switches off after 1 second
5 SEC: Back light switches off after 5 seconds
ALWAYS: Back light is always on
CONTRAST
When using the 29200/201 outside or in bright environments the
LCD display contrast can be adjusted. Increasing the contrast darkens
the display text. Press SELECT M MENU and use + or to adjust LCD
display contrast level.
SCROLL SPEED
When the length of the music track or directory title is longer than
the screen, the 29200/201 scrolls it. You can control the scroll speed:
NONE (music track name or directory title are not scrolled)
1X (music track name or directory title is scrolled by level 1)
2X (music track name or directory title by level 2)
4X (music track name or directory title by level 3)
EQ (EQUALIZER)
The 29200/201 includes a variety of equalizer settings designed to
enhance the listening experience. Use or to highlight preferred
setting and press SELECT M MENU to confirm selection:
NORMAL
ROCK
CLASSIC
JAZZ
BASS
METAL
SYS (SYSTEM INFORMATION)
This menu contains system information about the memory status
and allows you to format music memory. Press and hold SELECT M
MENU and or to navigate to SYS, then press SELECT M MENU
press to view SYSTEM INFO menu.
TOTAL: total size of music memory
FREE: music memory available
Use + or to choose FORMAT or LOW FORMAT and SELECT M MENU
to confirm selection:
FORMAT: simply format the music memory
LOW FORMAT: format the music memory (after executing the low
format, the font file must be updated)

UPLOADING AND DOWNLOADING MP3 MUSIC FILES
A PC can be used to edit the 29200/201 memory and also to upload
and download MP3 music files using drag-and-drop. A USB cable
(supplied) links the 29200/201 with a PC.
PC requirements:
Pentium 133Mhz or higher
Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
USB Port must be supported
In MP3 player mode, plug the USB cable into the USB port of the
29200/201 and the USB port of the PC. The 29200/201 will
automatically be in USB mode and the PC with Windows ME/200/XP
automatically recognises the 29200/201 as an external hard disk.

IMPORTANT: Do not remove the USB cable when the 29200/201
USB display message is ‘DON’T REMOVE USB’.
PLEASE NOTE: Windows 98 requires installation of the USB Driver
Program supplied with the 29200/201 package. See INSTALLING USB
DRIVER FOR WINDOWS 98 in the section ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
The 29200/201 will be allocated a drive letter in My Computer (e.g.
E:). Double click on the drive letter like a normal drive. The PC may
open a window ‘Removable Disk (E:)’ with the message: ‘What do you
want Windows to do?’ and present a list of options. Select ‘Open folder
to view files’. From this window you can:
Organise music files and directories
Add new music files from the PC by dragging files or folders from the
‘My Music’ folder
Copy music files from a CD by first of all copying the music file(s) to
‘My Music’ folder on the PC and dragging the files/folders from ‘My
Music’ folder to ‘Removable Disk (E:)’

Plug in the earphones (the earphones are also the aerial).
Press and hold POWER to turn the player on (the player remembers
the mode it was in when switched off) DAB radio mode tunes into
the station last listened to.
CHANGE STATION, SERVICE or SERVICE INFORMATION
Press MENU M SELECT to change mode from station name, to
service name, to service information.
CHANGE STATION
Press or to select the previous or next station.
CHANGE SERVICE
Press or to view the previous or next service, then press
MENU M SELECT to select. If the service is not found, the unit
displays ‘station not available’.
CHANGE SERVICE INFORMATION
Press or to page through service information.
Scrolling text - Ensemble - Time & date - Bit rate - Genre
PRESET
To store and access DAB radio Preset stations.
STORE A PRESET RADIO STATION
Press and hold PLAY P PRESET while listening to the service.
Select a preset number 1 to 8 using or . Press the PLAY P
PRESET to save the service.
ACCESS A PRESET RADIO STATION
Press PLAY P PRESET to enter the preset tuning mode. Select a
service using or and press PLAY P PRESET to start tuning.
DAB radio normal mode display
Mode: DAB

DAB RADIO FUNCTION MENU
Press and hold SELECT M MENU in the normal operation status to
view Menu. Use + or - to scroll options and SELECT M MENU to
confirm selection.
1. DAB Radio: press SELECT M MENU
2. MP3 Player: press SELECT M MENU
As this is a portable DAB radio, you may need to alter the tuning to
pick up local DAB stations which are new to your 29200/201. This can
be done in three ways:
3. Manual tune
• Select Manual Tune and press SELECT M MENU to enter manual
tune mode.
• Select an ensemble using the or in the manual tune
mode.
• Select an ensemble and press SELECT M MENU to tune to the
ensemble.
• If there is no key input, manual tuning mode is released after 8
seconds.
• In the case of a new ensemble, the service is saved automatically.
• If a service is not found, the message ’! Station not available...’is
displayed and the player returns to the previous service after 8
seconds and starts tuning.
4. Autoscan local
As this is a portable DAB radio, you may need to alter the tuning to
pick up local DAB stations which are new to your 29200/201.
Press SELECT M MENU to automatically scan ensemble 11B to 12D.
Services found will be stored in memory. If a service is not found, the
message ‘! Station not available...’ is displayed.
5. Autoscan full
As this is a portable DAB radio, you may need to alter the tuning to
pick up local DAB stations which are new to your 29200/201.
Press SELECT M MENU to automatically scan ensemble 5A to 13F.
Services found will be stored in memory. If a service is not found, the
message ‘! Station not available...’ is displayed.
6. Contrast
When using the 29200/201 outside or in bright environments the
LCD display contrast can be adjusted. Increasing the contrast darkens
the display text. Press SELECT M MENU and use + or - to adjust LCD
display contrast level.
7. Back light
The LCD display has a Back light, which illuminates the display when
a key is pressed. You can change the time period before the Back light
switches off using this menu. The LCD display Back light has 4 settings.
To change the setting press SELECT M MENU, use + or - to scroll
options and SELECT M MENU to confirm:

Press SELECT M MENU to return to DAB radio normal mode.

Press and hold POWER to turn the player on (the player remembers
the mode it was in when switched off) FM radio remembers the last
station listened to.

FM TUNING
SET PRESETS AUTOMATICALLY
Press and hold PLAY P PRESET to automatically search for services in the FM band (87.5~108MHz). The services are automatically saved in the Presets 01 to 10 and retained when the 29200/201 is turned off and on again.
SET PRESETS MANUALLY
Manual Preset Mode is used for changing the frequency of the currently
saved preset. Press and hold or to find a frequency and
press PLAY P PRESET to save the new frequency in the current
Preset.
SELECT FM STATION
Press or to select the previous or next saved Preset FM
radio station.
FM RADIO FUNCTIONS MENU
Press and hold SELECT M MENU in the normal operation status to
view Menu. Use + or - to scroll options and SELECT M MENU to
confirm selection.

2. MP3 Player: press SELECT M MENU

1. Initial. Selecting the yes option clears all FM radio and DAB
radio Presets. (Does not delete MP3 files).
2. Version. View the curr
ent version of the 29200/201.
3. Go up (to OPTION MENU)

Press and hold SELECT M MENU to escape from Menu mode.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
BUTTON LOCK
Slide the HOLD switch in the direction of the POWER button to prevent
unintended button manipulation.
Slide the HOLD switch away from the POWER button to unlock
buttons.
BATTERIES
LOW BATTERY
The low battery message is displayed when the battery is too low to
operate.
CHARGING RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES
Make sure the batteries are rechargeable (chargeable batteries and
battery charger are not supplied), if they are:
Plug an AC/DC adaptor (not supplied) into the DC.5V jack socket.
The charging icon is displayed and the batteries are being charged.
When the charging operation is complete, the battery charging icon will blink.
Remove the AC/DC adaptor from the 29200/201.
FIRMWARE/FONT UPDATE
1 Connect 29200/201 into PC by USB cable.
2 Copy the firmware file (RP_EXCT.CNX) into root directory of USB mass-
storage.
3 In case of font update, copy the font file(RP_FONT.CNX) into root
directory of USB mass-storage.
4 Remove the USB cable.
5 As soon as escaping from USB mode, the 29200/201 starts to update
firmware or font data.
6 After updating firmware, the 29200/201 turns the power off
automatically. After updating font data will return to MP3 mode.
INSTALLING USB DRIVER FOR WINDOWS 98
The Windows 98 driver is supplied on a disc. Upload it onto the PC as
follows:
1 Copy the USB drive file to your HDD drive.
2 Turn on the 29200/201 and set it to MP3 mode.
3 Connect the USB cable (supplied) to PC.
4 Connect the USB cable to 29200/201.
5 Windows 98 will detect the USB device as a new hardware device
6 When prompted to add new hardware, select [Next].
7 When asked, select “Search for the best driver for your device” and
click [Next].
8 When asked for the driver location, specify driver path to [C:\DAB],
and click [Next].
9 When ready click on [Next], driver installation will begin automatically.
10 When driver installation is completed, click [Finish] to complete the
installation process.
The above installation procedure must be repeated two more times:
First for USB storage class device
Second for Internet audio device interface.
