PROFESSIONAL THERMOCERAMIC STRAIGHTENER WITH HEAT PROTECTION MAT AND MARK HILL COSMETICS
THERMOCERAMIC
STYLING KIT
Your new thermoceramic straightener has been designed by electrical experts Morphy Richards and twice international hairdresser of the year Mark Hill. Use this style guide to help you get the most from your styling tool.
HOW DOES THERMOCERAMIC TECHNOLOGY WORK?
Morphy Richards heat-styling products feature ThermoCeramic technology to give you outstanding professional performance. ThermoCeramic styling tools feature a ceramic finish that helps your hair look its best by ensuring that the hair cuticle lies flat, reflecting light and looking healthy and shiny. Better still, the ceramic finish acts as a barrier to protect your hair from the high styling temperature, minimising damage to the cuticle. So you get the best performance and the best hair care in the same great styling tool. ThermoCeramic heating elements heat up in seconds and ensure a high and constant temperature.
Before After
STEP 1: DRYING YOUR HAIR
After you have shampooed and conditioned your hair,
comb through gently using a wide toothcomb.
When wet, hair can stretch by up to 1/3 of its length.
Treat it gently at this stage, to avoid damaging your hair.
Before you apply a heat protection spray, use your
hairdryer to ‘waft’ the excess moisture from your hair.
If you apply a styling product on very wet hair, you may
dilute the product, making it less effective. Apply the
heat protection spray evenly from the roots of your hair
to the ends
Using sectioning clips take a small section of hair from
the nape of the neck, and secure the rest of your hair
away from it. Using a paddle brush, dry the hair,
pointing the hairdryer down the hair from roots to ends
to help avoid any ‘frizzy’ bits
Once this section is dry, use the cool button for a
couple of seconds to ‘set’ the hair
Take the next section of hair, dry and cool. Do this for
the rest of your hair. This may take a little longer than
you are used to at first, but the results you achieve will
be worth it, and your style will last longer
STEP 2: STRAIGHTENING YOUR HAIR
On thoroughly dry hair, section hair from the nape of the
neck no deeper than 2cm and secure the rest of the hair
away with clips
Select either the lower or higher heat setting depending
on whether you have thin or thinker hair.
Spray the full length of the section with the Mark Hill
Heat Protection Spray
Clamp the roots of the section between the
straightening plates
Gently and swiftly run the straighteners down the hair
for five seconds
Take the next section and repeat until desired effect
is achieved
Finish by running a wide toothcomb through the hair
and spraying with the Mark Hill Finishing Spray to add
shine and set your style.
STYLE VARIATIONS
To retain plenty of body and bounce
Straighten only the top sections of the hair around the
crown areas to give a smooth yet voluminous finish.
To create softness and shape around the face
While gliding the straightener down your hair, as you
get half way down the section, turn your wrist inwards
to shape the hair around your face and frame your
features perfectly.
For a choppier texture
Flick-out hair at the very ends by turning wrists outwards
as you get about two thirds of the way down your section.
USING YOUR STRAIGHTENER:
1. Your exclusive Morphy Richards Straightening Kit includes the straightener, Mark Hill Heat
Protection spray, finishing spray, heat proof mat and stylish storage tin. Whilst hair is still damp, spray liberally with the Mark Hill Heat Protection spray. Dry hair thoroughly and brush your hair through using the paddle brush. Use sectioning clips to clip sections of your hair out of the way while you straighten.
2. The heat-proof mat is designed to protect surfaces from heat damage and to wrap your straighteners once the power has been switched off. Once cooled down your straighteners and accessories can all be stored in the stylish tin included.
3. Choose either setting I or II dependent on the temperature you require. The temperature you need will depend on the thickness of your hair and the result you want to achieve. Setting ‘I’ is the lowest, ‘II’ the highest. The red indicator light will illuminate when you select the heat setting required. Once the straightener has reached a temperature suitable for use, the light will begin to flash. This usually takes less than one minute.
! Ensure your hair is thoroughly dry before you begin styling – this will avoid damage to
the hair.
4. Divide your hair into sections, brushing each section thoroughly.
5. Clamp a section of the hair between the straightening plates, as close to the roots
as possible. Gently slide the straightener down your hair shaft to the ends. For more difficult sections of hair, you may need to repeat this. Avoid leaving your hair clamped inside the straightener for more than a few seconds, as this could cause unnecessary damage to the cuticle.
6. To create movement in the hair, use your wrist to shape the ends either inwards our outwards depending on the style you wish to achieve.
7. Repeat on all sections of the hair.
8. Clean your straightener regularly for best results. Always do this when the straightener is
switched off and has cooled down.
WIRING
The product is fitted with a 13A (BS1363) plug. A 3A fuse (BS1362) must be used. Check the voltage on the rating plate of your appliance corresponds with your house electricity supply which must be AC (Alternating Current). If the socket outlets in your home are not suitable for the plug supplied with this appliance the plug should be removed and an appropriate one fitted.
IMPORTANT: THE PLUG, REMOVED FROM THE MAINS LEAD, IF SEVERED, MUST BE DESTROYED AS A PLUG WITH BARED FLEXIBLE CORD IS HAZARDOUS IF ENGAGED INTO A LIVE SOCKET OUTLET.
CLEANING YOUR STRAIGHTENER
Over time, you will find a natural build up on your straightening plates. This can be caused by natural oils in your hair and styling products and lotions. At the first sign of build up, you should clean your straightening plates. To do this, always switch your straightener off and wait for them to cool down. Wipe with a damp cloth, or a non abrasive cleaning wipe. Failure to do this may mean the build up becomes burnt onto the straightening plates and they will become difficult to clean. If your straightening plates do become discoloured it will NOT affect their performance.
MAINS LEAD
As a safety precaution, and to prolong the life of your appliance, do not wrap the mains lead around the straightener unit. Use the cable storage provided in the base unit.
HEAT PROTECTION MAT
The heatproof mat is designed to protect surfaces from heat damage. To use – rest your straighteners on the mat, or wrap your straighteners inside when they have been switched off. DO NOT clamp the mat between the straightening plates while your straightener is hot as this can cause damage. With prolonged use you may find your heatproof mat becomes discoloured – this is normal.
SAFETY INFORMATION
When using your hair straightener, basic safety precautions should always be followed. Please read these instructions carefully before using the product, and keep them in a safe place for future reference.
1. This straightener is of professional standard, and reaches very high temperatures.
Always be careful not to allow the plates to come into contact with the skin.
2. Do not leave the plates in contact with the hair for more than a few seconds. The straightener reaches very high temperatures, so there is no need to leave the hair between the plates for longer than a few seconds. This will avoid unnecessary damage to the hair cuticle.
3. Use the appliance for its intended use only.
4. To protect against the risk of electric shock, do not immerse the appliance in water or any
other liquids.
5. It is recommended that this appliance should not be used by children.
6. Always unplug your appliance when it is not in use.
7. Do not leave the straightener switched on while unattended.
8. Do not use this appliance near bathtubs, showers, basins or other vessels containing water.
9. In the event of cable damage, do not attempt to replace the mains cable – return to
Morphy Richards.
10. After use, do not store until the product has cooled down.
11. Do not place the straightener on surfaces likely to be damaged by the heat.
12. Ensure your hair is completely dry before you begin straightening. Applying high
temperatures to damp or wet hair will increase the probability of hair breaking or becoming permanently damaged.
13. Try and use your straightener for as short a time as possible – prolonged use can cause unnecessary damage to your hair.
