Morphy Richards 3 slice Trio toaster User Manual

3 slice Trio toaster
Dear Customer
Morphy Richards present the Trio 3 slice toaster, a brand new concept in vari-width toasters. It has 3 extra wide, extra deep slots which can toast a wide range of items, reflecting todays changing eating habits.
The Trio can toast 1, 2 or 3 slices of bread and its vari-width slots can toast thick or thin slices. It can toast one side only in the 2 outer slots - perfect for burger buns and bagels. It also has a single slice facility in the centre slot, which is ideal for quick snacks, and saves heating the whole machine for just one slice.

Electrical requirements
Check that the voltage on the rating plate of your appliance corresponds with your house electricity supply which must be A.C. (Alternating Current).
If the socket outlets in your home are not suitable for the plug supplied with this appliance, the plug should be removed and the appropriate one fitted.
Note: The plug removed from the mains lead, if severed, must be destroyed as a plug with bared flexible cord is hazardous if engaged into a live socket outlet.

Features of your toaster
Variable width bread slots ¤ Electronic variable browning control2 position function switchFrozen bread buttonCancel buttonBread carriage lever/hi lift for small itemsRemovable crumb tray (at rear)
· Cord storage (on base)
Instructions for use
1 Before plugging in ensure that the carriage lever
is in the upper position.
2 Use your toaster once without bread. This will
pre-heat the new elements and burn off any dust which may have accumulated during storage.
3 Select the desired level of browning on the
browning control ¤ marked 1 to 8. You will need to vary the setting according to the moisture content and thickness of bread. For best results ensure that the bread slices are of even thickness, freshness and size. The variable width bread slots will accept thicker or thinner bread than a conventional toaster. Remember that stale bread toasts more rapidly than fresh and thin bread toasts quicker than thick. See the ‘additional points’ section for more information.
4 After selecting the desired setting, place your bread
in the slots and depress the bread carriage lever downwards until it locks.
Note: The bread carriage lever will not stay down unless the toaster is plugged in and wall switch is on.
5 When the toast is cooked, it will pop-up
automatically ready for removal from the slots. The bread carriage lever will have returned to its upper position and disconnected the element, ready for the next toasting.
If the first slices are not dark enough turn the browning control to a higher setting.
If the first slices are too dark turn the browning control to a lower setting.
• When toasting two slices, put the bread in the two outer slots for best results. One side may appear to be a darker colour than the other. This is quite normal and is not a fault.
If the bread in your toaster becomes jammed, disconnect your toaster at the socket, allow it to cool, then remove the bread.
When not in use, switch your toaster off at the mains and remove the plug from the socket. DO NOT WRAP THE CABLE AROUND THE MAIN BODY OF THE TOASTER DURING OR IMMEDIATELY AFTER USE. THE CABLE STORAGE AREA UNDERNEATH THE TOASTER SHOULD BE USED.

If you wish to interrupt the toasting process, press
the cancel button fi.
Using the frozen bread button
To toast frozen bread, do not adjust the browning control, place the bread normally in the bread slots, depress the bread carriage lever and press the frozen bread button . The button will illuminate and the toaster will automatically toast for an extended period.
Using the high lift release H
If small bread is toasted, this may be removed more easily by raising the bread carriage lever to its highest position.
Cleaning
1 After use and before cleaning, switch off at the mains,
remove the plug and wait for the toaster to cool. 2 Wipe the outside of the toaster with a damp cloth
only and dry with another cloth or tissue.
NEVER use metal polish or coarse scouring agents
and never immerse your toaster in any sort of
liquid.
NEVER use any pointed or sharp articles for
cleaning the inside, otherwise the heating element
will be damaged.
NEVER use a brush or push your fingers or metal
objects down the slots.
Crumb tray
Crumbs will accumulate in the crumb tray and could catch fire if not emptied periodically. When the toaster has cooled down completely, tap the sides of the case lightly to dislodge any crumbs lodged in the toasting chamber and pull out the crumb tray ‡. Empty the tray and replace it.
Additional points
In order to achieve uniform browning, we recommend you wait a minimum of 30 seconds between each toasting, so that the control can automatically be reset.
If toasting one slice only, you may need to adjust the browning control to a slightly lower setting.
Stale bread toasts more rapidly than fresh bread. Therefore, the browning control should be set at a lower setting than usual.
Because of the variable width bread slots feature, all sorts of bread can be used as well as teacakes, small rolls etc. Slices should not however be so thick as to cause burning or jamming within the bread slots.
When toasting multiple slices it is recommended they are of equal size and freshness.
Allow the toaster to cool fully before putting away.
