Electrical requirements
Check the voltage on the rating plate of your CD microsystem corresponds with your house electricity supply which must be A.C. (alternating current). If the socket outlets in your home are not suitable for the plug supplied with this appliance the plug should be removed and the appropriate one fitted.
IMPORTANT : THE PLUG IF SEVERED FROM THE MAINS LEAD MUST BE DESTROYED AS A PLUG WITH A BARED FLEXIBLE CORD IS HAZARDOUS IF ENGAGED INTO A LIVE SOCKET OUTLET.
Should the fuse in the 13 amp plug require changing a 3 amp BS1362 fuse must be fitted.
Putting batteries into the remote control
Press down the compartment cover, and slide the cover off to open the compartment. Place the two batteries (UM4), (AAA), (R6) batteries (not supplied) in the remote control according to the polarity markings (" + " and " -- ") inside the compartment and on the batteries. Place the cover over the compartment, press down lightly, and push it upwards until it snaps on.
If the unit is not to be used for a prolonged period, remove the batteries to avoid battery leakage. In the interests of environmental safety : dispose of batteries safely.

Installing the speaker wire to the speaker terminals
Connect the speaker wires to the right and left speaker terminals as shown below.
Installing the ribbon cable to the amplifier terminals
Connect the ribbon cable between the CD and Amplifier units as shown below.

Operating the unit (Power/standby)
1 When you first plug the unit into the AC outlet, the unit will be in STANDBY
mode. Ensure that the main switch on the rear is switched to on. You can press the POWER button on the unit (or on the remote control) to switch the unit ON and OFF. Pull the AC plug out of the wall socket if you want to switch off completely.
2 Select the sound source (CD, Radio or Aux) by pressing corresponding
function key. The corresponding display will light up.
3 Adjust the volume with the VOLUME (UP or DOWN) button. Adjust the
variable bass control knob to alter the bass.
4 Press POWER button to switch off the unit.
Clock setting
Ensure that the unit is in Standby position 1 Press and hold PROGRAM / CLOCK SET button until time display 24-H
flashes on the display.
2 Press TUNING UP / DOWN button to adjust between 24-hour or 12-hour clock. 3 Press PROGRAM / CLOCK SET button, the hour digits will flash, press
TUNING UP / DOWN to adjust the hour. Press PROGRAM / CLOCK SET
button again, the minute digits will flash. Press TUNING UP / DOWN to adjust the minutes.
4 Press and hold PROGRAM / CLOCK SET button to store the time.
Timer setting
1 Ensure that the unit is in standby mode. 2 Press and hold the TIMER button for a few seconds, TIMER will appear on the
display and flash.
3 Press and hold for a few seconds PROGRAM / CLOCK SET button, the hour
will flash. Press TUNING UP / DOWN button to set the hour. Press PROGRAM / CLOCK SET button again to set the minutes. Press again to confirm the timer is set to the correct time.
4 The unit will turn on at the last function and volume used at the
preset time.

5 The unit will turn off automatically after 1 hour. Press the STANDBY / ON
button to turn off before the set time.
6 Press and hold the TIMER button to completely cancel the timer function.
Radio operation
Ensure unit is not in standby mode. Press the TUNER button to select the Radio operation. 1 Press TUNER button to select waveband (MW / FM) range will appear on the
display.
2 Select the desired waveband range with the STOP / BAND (MW / FM) button.
Manual tuning
1 To tune for weak stations, press and hold the TUNING UP or DOWN button until
you reach the correct frequency or reception is at its best.
Automatic tuning
1 Press TUNING SEARCH UP / DOWN for a second or more, then release
the button. The tuner will automatically search for the first station of sufficient signal strength.
2 Repeat above procedure if you wish to select another station.
Programming presets station
You can also preset stations of your choice and store up to 10 MW and 10 FM stations in the memory. To store your selected broadcasting stations: 1 Press the STOP/ BAND (MW / FM) button to toggle between MW and FM to
make your selection.
2 Tune to the required station. 3 Press PROGRAM / CLOCK SET button 4 Press REPEAT / MEMORY button to select your desired station number 5 Press PROGRAM / CLOCK SET again to confirm your selection. 6 To program more stations into memory, repeat the above steps 2 to 5. 7 To change the stored preset stations, repeat the above steps 2 to 5.

Notes: 1 Storing a new station into a preset location will erase the previously stored
station in that location.
2 Power off / failure or power cord disconnection will clear the memory of all preset
stations. Perform the station presetting procedures again to store the stations.
Selecting the preset stations
1 Press the STOP / BAND (MW / FM) button to select the desired band. 2 Press REPEAT / MEMORY button to select the desired preset station
number.
3 The numeric location of that preset station is displayed along with the
corresponding frequency.
FM Antenna
Fully extend the FM antenna wire for better FM reception.
FM stereo reception
For reception of FM stereo broadcast station, set the stereo/mono switch to stereo. The
‘
’ stereo indicator will indicate on the LCD display when a FM broadcast is being
received.
Listening to compact disc (CD)
Press the CD button to select the CD operation. 1 Open by pressing the front of the lid, place the CD in the compartment and close
the lid by pressing down until it clicks into place. (The display will show the number of tracks and total duration of CD).
Playing the entire disc
1 Playback will start by pressing PLAY / PAUSE, the indicator then appears.
Playback starts with the first track. The display shows the current track number and its elapsed time.

2 To interrupt playback, press PLAY / PAUSE. The time elapse indicator will flash. 3 To resume playback, press PLAY / PAUSE again. 4 To stop playback, press STOP.
Selecting a different track
1 Press SKIP UP / DOWN button on the unit (or remote), until the required track
number appears in the display.
2 Press PLAY / PAUSE button to start play.
Skipping / reverse during playback
1 Press and hold the TRACK / TUNE UP or DOWN button to skip or reverse within
a track.
2 Press and release the TRACK / TUNE UP or DOWN button to fast forward or
reverse to the next or previous track.
Repeat play
1 When playing CD, if you wish to repeat the same track, press REPEAT button
once and the "REPEAT" display will light up and flash.
2 If you want to repeat all, press the REPEAT button twice and the "REPEAT"
display will light up and will not flash.
3 To cancel repeat play, press the STOP button or press REPEAT button until the
repeat indicator disappears.
Stopping play
1 Press STOP if you wish to stop play. The disc and track number which can be
played will now appear in the display.
2 Open the CD door on the unit to remove the CD.
Random play (for remote handset)
1 Press the RANDOM button once, and the "RANDOM" indicator will light up and
the tracks will begin to play radomly.
2 Press STOP / BAND (MW / FM) button to clear the random mode.
Intro play (for remote handset)
1 Press the INTRO button once, and the "INTRO" indicator will light up. 2 Shortly after this, every track will be played for only 10 seconds from the
beginning.
Programming
By programming the CD player, you can play up to 20 tracks in any desired order. (possible only when the CD is in stop mode.)
1 Place the disc to be programmed in the tray. Press the PROGRAM button. 2 The display will show MEMORY TRACK and P-01. 3 Use TRACK / TUNE UP or DOWN buttons to select the first track to be
programmed.
4 When the desired track appears on the display, press PROGRAM button again. 5 The display will show MEMORY TRACK and P-02. 6 Repeat this procedure to select other tracks that you wish to program from the
disc into the memory.
Playing a program
(once programme is complete, before the display returns to CD (approx 8 seconds)
1 Press PLAY / PAUSE (immediately after setting the program). 2 Play starts with the first track of the program. 3 When all tracks have been played, the display shows the number of tracks and
the playing time of the CD song.
Erasing a program
A program is erased if you : Press PROGRAM then the STOP button in stop mode. Or Switch the unit OFF. Or Open the CD door.
Note : In setting a new program, the existing one will be cleared.
Sleep
1 Whilst the cd or radio is playing, press the TIMER / SLEEP button. 2 The display will show ‘sleep 90 mins’. Each press of the button will decrease the
steps by 10 steps until 10 minutes shows on the display.

Mute play (for remote handset)
1 If you press the MUTE button, mute will appear on the display & the audio
output will be temporarily muted.
2 Press MUTE button again, the indicator will go out and the audio output will
continue as normal.
Aux play
1 Press the AUX button once and the "AUX" indicator lights up on the display. This
unit can input analog sound signals through these jacks.
2 Use a cable with RCA phono plugs to connect audio equipment (turn table,
VCRs, etc.)
Reset function
If an abnormal situation occurs in the display, press the reset button on the back cabinet of the CD unit to resume normal operation.
Remain (on remote handset)
The display can be altered by each press of the cd remain button on the remote handset as shown below:
When set to cd : 1 (During play) Current track + elapsed time >> Remaining time for cd >>
Clock >> Timer.
2 (During stop) Total play time for cd >> Clock >> Timer When set to radio 1 Frequency >> Clock >> Timer
Battery memory back-up (batteries not included)
To Insert 1.5V x 4 (UM4), (AAA) battery in the back-up battery box. To Back-up the memory of the main CPU.
This saves the clock and program presets in the event of a power failure.

Compact disc
1 Always use compact discs bearing the mark as shown.
2 Notes on handling discs:
When removing the disc from its storage case and loading it. * Do not touch the reflective recorded surface. * Do not stick paper or write anything on the surface. * Do not bend the disc.
3 Storage:
* Store the disc in its case. * Do not expose discs to direct sunlight or high temperatures, high
humidity or dusty places.
4 Cleaning a disc:
* Should the disc become soiled, wipe off dust, dirt and fingerprints with a
soft cloth.
* The disc should be cleaned from the centre to the edge.
* Never use benzene, thinners, record cleaner fluid or anti static spray. * Be sure to close the CD door so the lens is not contaminated by dust.

ATTENTION: To reduce the risk of an electric shock, do not remove the cover. There are no user serviceable parts inside the unit. Refer any servicing to qualified personnel.
The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol within the triangle is a warning sign alerting the user of ‘dangerous voltage’ inside the unit.
The exclamation point within the triangle is a warning sign alerting the user of important instructions accompanying the product. To prevent fire or shock hazard do not expose this apparatus to dripping or splashing.

Maintenance
Do not expose your cd micro system to extreme of temperatures. The product should be kept in a warm environment free from dust and damp. For external cleaning use only a soft, clean, damp cloth. Use of detergents may damage the finish.

If there is a scratch, dirt or finger prints on the CD, it may cause tracking errors. Before playing, clean the CD with a clean cloth. Wipe the CD from the centre outwards. After playing, store the disc in its CDcase.
The CD micro system is for indoor use only.
