Mordaunt-Short’s 40th
anniversary, a huge
investment has been put into
the Performance 6 Limited
Edition to produce a number
of critical enhancements.
A second generation
research programme
including specification and
new manufacture of custom
crossover components has
revealed increased levels
of detail and even more
musical nuances.
The cabinet - finished
in stunning midnight black uses an advanced
formulation of the original
material while the internal
cabinet detail has been
subtly modified affording
more effective use of cabinet
volume. This builds on the
Performance 6’s reputation
for lifelike imaging and
produces optimal low end
performance.
Performance 6
Performance 6 combines
dazzling sound quality with
equally striking styling. The
ATT tweeter and CPC drivers
complement each other to
produce a performance that
is as close to the original
recording as you will get.
The ported cabinet
eschews the parallel surfaces
of conventional design,
delivering a beautifully
sculpted form. The unusual
shape eliminates colouration
and has inherent mechanical
strength, dramatically
improving sound quality. This
is enhanced by a heavy cast
metal base with spiked feet.
Such radical profiling is
possible through the use
of a complex polymer resin.
So, while the outside of
the enclosure is rock hard,
the inner section of this
unique material is far less
dense, delivering high
acoustic damping and
low stored energy.
Performance 5 centre
The Performance 5 is a
dedicated centre channel
speaker designed to meet
the specialised demands of
a surround sound system.
Designed to be perfectly
timbre matched with the
Performance 6, the centre
delivers a superb overall
cinematic sound with
seamless panning of special
effects. Using two 5” CPC
drivers and ATT tweeter,
it also features an adjustable
tilt function for the ideal
angle of delivery, along
with an optional wallmountable bracket.

opposing long-throw bass
units. Mordaunt-Short’s own
Active Room Control (ARC)
means troublesome room
resonances can be easily
and quickly eliminated.
The best possible integration
is achieved by using the
supplied test CD and Sound
Pressure Level (SPL) meter
for a far more accurate
match to the listening
environment. A proprietary
computer programme (found
on the test CD) ensures you
get the perfect ARC settings.

Aspirated Tweeter Technology (ATT™)
Performance sees the introduction of
Mordaunt-Short’s proprietary Aspirated
Tweeter Technology. This elongated
metal diffuser – whose form is defined
by complex acoustic principles – floats
freely in a discrete enclosure. Along its
length are strategically positioned vents
eliminating the colouration which
plagues traditional closed-back
designs. This unique venting system
means Performance’s high frequency
drivers literally ‘breathe’, resulting in
an open yet detailed sound.
Continuous Profile Cone
technology (CPC™)
Performance drivers use Continuous
Profile Cone (CPC) technology
which produces precise, predictable
performance by ensuring controlled
piston-like movement at low
frequencies, and minimal break-up
at higher frequencies.
Unique cabinet construction
After close scrutiny of all possible
options, Mordaunt-Short's designers
decided to implement polymer resin.
A previously unexploited material,
it is ideal for a no-compromise,
acoustically inert enclosure.
Enabling injection-moulded
monocoque construction, the
compound’s density can be varied
to within less than one hundredth
of a gram. So, while the outside
of the Performance enclosure is rock
hard, the inner section of this unique
material gives high acoustic damping
and low stored energy.

the cabinet produces the work of art

Sound Deadening Steel (SDS™ )
The mid-range driver chassis are
constructed from a highly advanced
Sound Deadening Steel (SDS) system.
The mechanical design completely
eliminates unwanted resonance effects
and helps deliver an incredibly clear
and accurate mid-range.
ICEpower™
The Performance 9 subwoofer
incorporates two sizeable long-throw
drivers. Each 25cm driver is powered
by its own 500W ICEpower
TM
module.
These hugely powerful yet low
distortion amplifiers deliver stunning
scale and weight to the bass response.
