Before plugging the unit into a power outlet, ensure that

Unplug this device from the power source when not in

cord does not present a tripping hazard.
Never unplug the unit by pulling on the power cord.
Always grasp the connector head or adapter body.
Ensure that power is turned off and disconnected before
making any electrical connections.
Clean using a soft, dry cloth only. Do not use chemical
cleaners, solvents, or detergents. For stubborn deposits,
moisten the cloth with warm water.
This device has no user serviceable parts. Do not attempt
to open, service, or modify this device.

INTRODUCTION
This Blackbird™ 4K HDMI® Scaler with Frame Conversion is a high
performance HDMI video scaler. It can accept input resolutions
from 480i to 4K@60Hz (4:4:4) and can upscale or downscale the
video to any resolution from 1024x768@60Hz to 4K@60Hz (4:4:4).
It is compliant with the HDMI 2.0b and HDCP® 2.2 standards and
supports video bandwidth up to 18Gbps. It can extract the HDMI
audio to digital optical and stereo analog audio outputs. It has a
built-in OSD menu system and can be controlled using either the
front panel buttons or using a RS-232 control program on a
connected PC.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Front Panel
1. RESO.: Momentarily press the RESO. button to switch the
output resolution. Press and hold the RESO. button for 5
seconds to set the output resolution to 720p@60Hz.
2. EDID: Momentarily press the EDID® button to change the
EDID value. Press and hold the EDID button for 5 seconds
to set the EDID to the factory default value.
3. ENTER: Momentarily press the ENTER button save the
settings. Press and hold the ENTER button for 5 seconds
to perform a software update.
4. HDMI IN: HDMI® port for connecting the video source
device.
5. USB: USB port for connecting a flash drive to perform a
software update.

1. HDMI: HDMI® output port for connecting a video display.
2. OPTICAL: Digital optical audio output for connecting an
external amplifier or receiver.
3. AUDIO: 3.5mm stereo analog audio output for connecting
headphones or powered speakers.

RS-232 serial control.

SUPPORTED OUTPUT RESOLUTIONS
UPDATING THE SOFTWARE
In the event that a software update is made available, perform
the following steps to update your scaler's software.
1. Download the zip file with the software update, then
extract the MERGE.bin file to the root directory of a USB
flash drive.
2. Plug the USB flash drive into the USB port on the front
panel.
3. Press and hold the ENTER button for about 5 seconds,
until the OSD menu is displayed, then release the button.
The software update will commence. When it is
complete, the scaler will automatically reboot.
