This device ventilates excessive heat through the slots and openings in the case. Do

it can get sufficient airflow to keep from overheating.
Do not place or install this device in an area where it can be exposed to excessive

Prior to operation, check the unit and power cord for physical damage. Do not use if
physical damage has occurred.
Before plugging the unit into a power outlet, ensure that the outlet provides the
same type and level of power required by the device.
Never unplug the unit by pulling on the power cord. Always grasp the connector
head or adapter body.
Unplug this device from the power source when not in use. Ensure that power is turned off and disconnected before making any electrical
connections.

Take care to prevent damage to the power cord. Do not allow it to become
crimped, pinched, walked on, or become tangled with other cords. Ensure that the
power cord does not present a tripping hazard.
Remove the batteries from the controller if it will go unused for a lengthy period of
time.
Clean using a soft, dry cloth only. Do not use chemical cleaners, solvents, or
detergents. For stubborn deposits, moisten the cloth with warm water.
This device has no user serviceable parts. Do not attempt to open, service, or
modify this device.
INTRODUCTION
This Blackbird™ 4K HDMI® to 6G SDI Converter is designed to convert an HDMI video signal
to two SDI outputs. It has a maximum input resolution of 4K@30Hz 4:4:4 and a maximum
output resolution of 4K@30Hz 4:2:2. It has the ability to override the audio embedded in
the HDMI signal with external stereo analog or AES/EBU digital audio in the output SDI
signal. It features an 8-pin DIP switch to set the EDID for the HDMI input, to lock or unlock
the buttons, or to select one of the external audio options.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Front Panel
1. HDMI IN: HDMI® port for connecting the HDMI video source device.
2. AUDIO LED: The LED illuminates blue when external audio is selected as the audio
source.
3. L - ANALOG or AES/EBU: 3.5mm jack for connecting left channel analog audio or
AES/EBU digital audio.
4. R - ANALOG: 3.5mm jack for connecting right channel analog audio.
Rear Panel
1. DC 12V: DC barrel connector for connecting the included AC power adapter.
2. POWER LED: The LED illuminates red when power is applied.
3. SDI OUT: Two BNC connectors for connecting up to two SDI devices.
4. HDMI LED: The LED illuminates blue when an HDMI® input signal is detected.
5. FW: Micro USB port for performing firmware updates.

Side Panel
1. DIP SWITCHES: 8 DIP switches to control the EDID settings, locking or unlocking the
top panel buttons, and enabling or disabling external audio. The DIP switch is ON (1)
when it is in the down position and OFF (0) when it is in the up position. See the
SWITCHES

1. AUDIO: Press the AUDIO button to cycle through the audio options. See the

2. VOLUME: Press the up or down VOLUME buttons to increase or decrease the input
volume level. The LEDs to the left of the buttons indicate the volume level.
3. MUTE: Press the MUTE button to enable or disable audio muting.

EDID
DIP switches 1 and 2 are used to set the EDID.
Button Operation
DIP switch 6 is used to lock or unlock the buttons on the top panel. Put the switch in the
ON position to lock the buttons. Put the switch in the OFF position to unlock the buttons.
Audio Input Selection
DIP switches 7 and 8 are used to control the audio.
Put DIP switch 7 in the OFF position to use the embedded HDMI® audio. Put the switch in
the ON position to use external audio.
Put DIP switch 8 in the OFF position to use stereo analog external audio. Put the switch in
the ON position to use AES/EBU digital external audio. Note that DIP switch 7 must be in
the ON position to use external audio.
