General Guidelines
A video to help guide the installation is available on the MobileDemand website - technical support section.
Install the QWERTY keyboard in a non-obstructive, saf e location within the vehicle cab.
Avoid obstructing the following:
Vehicle operation
Visibility through windows
Safe entry or exit
Safety devices such as air bags
Firmly secure the QWERTY keyboard to stay in place despite vibrations, shocks, bumps, or vehicle accidents.
Do not use this or any computer system while operating a motor vehicle.

Parts
The QWERTY keyboard should have an overlay attached. If not, contact a MobileDemand support representative for a new overlay.
Using the QWERTY Keyboard
On the back of the keyboard module is a VGA port and two low-power USB ports that support USB devices demanding no more than 100mA each.
Attaching the QWERTY Keyboard
The QW ERTY keyboard is attachable directly to the xTablet T7000 unit using a coin or a flat-blade screwdriver.

To attach the keyboard to the xTablet T7000
1. Align the screws on the top of the QW ERTY keyboard ……with the holes in the bottom of the xTablet T7000.
2. Turn the screws on the bottom of the QW ERTY keyboard into the xTablet T7000 until tightly secure.
Using the QWERTY Keyboard Module with the MobileDemand xTablet T7000 Office Dock
Note: If you want to dock the xTablet T7000 with a QWERTY keyboard attached using a T7000 Office Dock, see the T7000 Office Dock and Extension
Instructions for instructions how to adjust the height of the locking mechanism.
Docking the xTablet T7000 with QWERTY Keyboard Attached in a T7000 Office Dock
Put the xTablet T7000 unit into the cradle portion of the T7000 Office Dock bottom first. To ensure a proper connection
1. Position the T7000 Office Dock so that it is upright.
2. Place the bottom of the xTablet T7000 into cradle seat.
3. Push the top of the xTablet T7000 into the cradle latch top until it clicks in place – this secures the top cradle latch onto
the xTablet T7000.
Using the QWERTY Keyboard Module with the MobileDemand xTablet T7000 Vehicle Mounts. VMT-10 or VMT-14
To use with an xTablet T7000 with an xTablet T7000 QWERTY Keyboard attached, a Latch Height Extension Kit is required.
To ensure a proper connection
1. Position the T7000 Vehicle
2. Place the bottom of the xTablet T7000 into cradle seat first.
3. Push the top of the xTablet T7000 into the cradle sl ide locking mechanism on top.
4. W ith your hands on the top two corners of the xTablet T7000, squeeze the back portion of
the sliding lock mechanism into place.
5. Turn the key in the cradle slide locking mechanism to lock in the xTablet T7000.
Standard Communications Module
xTablet T7000 docks are shipped with a standard communications module that you will have to remove before installing the
QWERTY keyboard. To remove the standard communications module
With the xTablet T7000 dock face down, use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the eight screws from the back and bottom
of the communications module, then detach the communications module from the xTablet T7000 dock.
Note the order and types of screws you remove. You will be reattaching them to the QWERTY keyboard in the same order.
Installing the QWERTY Keyboard
Use the same screws that you removed from the communications module to attach the QWERTY keyboard. To install the QWERTY keyboard
1. Place the QWERTY keyboard face down on your work surface.
2. With the dock facing down, align the holes in the bottom lip of the dock with the holes on the back of the QWERTY
keyboard.
3. Align the holes on the plate with the holes in the lip of the dock.
4. Using a Phillips screwdriver, reattach the plate to the dock, and the dock to the QWERTY keyboard using the screws you
had removed earlier - in the correct order as noted earlier.
Note: The communications module, with its gold contact pins, is spring-loaded and sinks as the xTablet T7000 is put in place. The spring action of the module plus the spring-loaded contact pins put force against the surface contacts on the
xTablet T7000 to ensure a solid connection.
To use the QWERTY keyboard
Press Fn then any of the keys with burgundy text on the overlay to perform applicable functions.
Press (Up Arrow or Shift) than any of the keys with white text on the overlay to insert additional characters.
The QWERTY keyboard module has a standard keyboard layout, separated by the control keys for the
keyboard.

To activate the Red keys, press the red Fn key along with the key that the Red key is assigned to. To activate the White keys, press the white Up Arrow key along with the key that the white key is assigned to. To press a keyboard Function Key like F1 for help, simply press the F1 key located in the top middle section. There is no PERIOD key.
Each key has a main label.
For example, this is the Y key. This key will also be an exclamation point, as well as the ~ key.
To activate the ! key or any white key, press the White Up Arrow.
To activate the ~ key or any red key, press the Fn Key

Some key tips:
To turn on CAPS LOCK, Press the Fn Key and press the Q key.
For BACKSPACE, Press this key at the top right of the keyboard.
For ENTER, Press this key on the right side of the keyboard.
For typing a CAPITAL letter, Press this key in the bottom middle of the keyboard.
For WINDOWS KEY, Press this key in the top middle of the keyboard
