1 IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
• Before mounting the lock, please read the instructions for use carefully.
• Ensure that you only program the lock when the door is open.
• After changing the code, always try the code several times with the safedoor open.
Only after several positive function tests (opening / closing) the door may be closed.
• Each key entry is confirmed by an audible tone and visual signal. These signals are not referred to in the description that follows.
• Acoustic signals are always accompanied by the same optical signals.
• You have a maximum of 10 seconds for each key entry. If you do not make an entry via the keypad during this period of 10 seconds, the entry procedure will automatically abort. You must then start again from the beginning.
• After entering a valid code, you will hear two audible tones. An invalid entry will trigger a long tone.
• After entering an invalid code at the first attempt; wait 20 seconds before entering the code again.
• If the code is entered incorrectly on four consecutive occasions the keypad and the lock will be disabled for 5 minutes. During this period, the LED will flash every 10 seconds and you will hear a long tone when attempting to make an entry. Entering an incorrect code on two further occasions
after the keypad has been re-enabled, will trigger a new keypad lock-out period of 5 minutes. After entering a valid code you have four new occasions to enter the code and open the lock.
!
Caution!
• The lock has been designed for use in a temperature range from +10˚C to +50˚C and a noncondensing humidity range from 30% to 80%.
• It may only be cleaned with a moist cloth (do not use aggressive cleaning agents).
• The lock may only be installed by qualified fitters.
• The lock may not be lubricated.
• Never open the lock housing. If it is necessary to disassemble the hardware, only do so in
accordance with the technical instructions. If you fail to do so, the lock may no longer function properly and you will forfeit your right to warranty.
2 CHARACTERISTICS
In the factory setting, the E-Pass can be opened either after entering 1-2-3-4 (hotel version) or after entering 1-2-3-4-5-6 (vault version) depending on the version. The blocking element is an electromagnet. After a valid code has been entered, the electronics are released for 4 seconds and the E-Pass can be unlocked by turning the handle. If the handle is turned back, the lock locks automatically. The E-Pass is supplied with Right Hand opening(RH). With minimal effort it can be changed to Left Hand opening(LH).The HU-versions are mounted vertical as shown, The HL-versions are mounted horizontal as shown.

4 MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
a. Changing handing (if necessary)
To change the E-Pass from Right Hand (RH) opening to Left Hand (LH), remove the screw in the center of the handle (PH1 screwdriver). Pull the black disk off the spindle and flip it around. It should show “LH” engraved now. Push the disk back in place, reattach the handle and tighten the screw hand-tight. The lock now opens by turning the handle towards left (counterclockwise).

b. Mounting
Mount the E-Pass housing with three M5 screws (not included). The tightness or looseness of the handle movement depends on the torque applied to the mounting screws. Adjust the screws so the handle operates to your liking. Use Loctite™ to fix the screws. Cover the screw in the handle with the big label.
c. Insert battery
To insert a battery, slide the cap off the unit. Connect one battery to the battery clip. Only use fresh 9V alkaline Duracell , Duracell Industrial or Energizer alkaline block batteries. Insert battery as shown. Align cap in the little track of the housing and slide back on. The battery cover features a positive snap to lock it to the unit. For additional protection against sliding off, use the provided screw. If the screw is not used the hole can be covered with the small label.

5 FUNCTIONAL TEST
a. Check the electronics The door has to be open during the checking procedure!
As it is with all M-LOCKS locks, the E-Pass is equipped with an unique procedure to check its electronics (keypad as well as lock).
Press and hold key ‘5’ until a double signal sounds. The LED will illuminate when performing the following actions:
5

Next, press all keys one by one and one after the other.
1
2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0
If the key = OK If the key = not OK , the test will be aborted. If one or more keys do not operate properly, please contact your supplier.
b. Mechanical test The door has to be open during the checking procedure!
With the lock closed, turn the handle in the opening direction as far as it will go. Enter the code and then try to rotate the handle further in the opening direction. This should not succeed. Therefore, first turn the handle to the fully closed position and turn it back in the opening direction immediately. Now the lock should open easily. This entire sequence has to be carried out quite quickly, since the electronics allow an opening only within 4 seconds. Then turn the handle back to the fully closed position. Now it should not be possible to open the lock without code input. After entering a valid code, the lock should now be easy to open and close again.

Repeat the mechanical test several times before locking the door!
