Bookshelf-75
M&K's FIRST BOOKSHELF/SATELLITE SPEAKER
For years, customers have asked us for a speaker that could deliver M&K sound quality and performance in a
DISCRETE DIGITAL MONITOR
more moderate price category. The Bookshelf-75 is our answer!
For the first time, M&K has a speaker that, at your option, can
be operated as a "full-range" speaker (with enough bass to operate without a subwoofer), or as a true satellite speaker (with the
response characteristics needed to mate perfectly with a subwoofer). Either way, you'll be able to optimize the Bookshelf-75's
performance to fit the needs of any environment or application.
Its cabinet size is compact enough to fit on most bookshelves,
yet its high level of performance means that it performs equally
well in stereo music systems and in the front or surround channels
of a multichannel 5.1/Pro-Logic system. Its smooth, uncolored tonal
balance, sharp imaging, and three-dimensionality mean that the
Bookshelf-75 will reproduce both soundtracks and music with tremendous accuracy.
CABINET ALIGNMENT TUNING:
USER-SELECTABLE SEALED BOX
OR VENTED RESPONSE
M&K's unique cabinet tuning design lets you change the performance and sound of the Bookshelf-75 to better suit the needs
of each installation. You can change it from a sealed box design to
a vented box design by simply inserting or removing a foam plug
mounted into a port on the front baffle of the speaker.
When the plug is inserted into the speaker cabinet, the port is closed, making the Bookshelf-75 a sealed box.
When the plug is removed from the speaker cabinet, opening the port, the Bookshelf-75 becomes a vented box.
MULTICHANNEL
The sealed box configuration gives the best transient response, the tightest mid-bass, and the flattest frequency
response. W e recommend this configuration for systems that include a subwoofer . When using the Bookshelf-75 as
a "full-range" speaker (without subwoof er), many listeners pref er more bass output from the Bookshelf-75. F or these
systems, simply remove the plug and use the Bookshelf-75 as a v ented bo x. This giv es increased bass and midbass
output for a warmer sound (the port adds a couple of dB additional midbass output in the region around about 80 Hz).
As always, we recommend experimenting with both modes to find the one that wor ks best for each application.
USES THE SAME TWEETER AS M&K's TOP SA TELLITES
Using the same tweeter as M&K's top-of-the-line speakers, the Bookshelf-75 is audibly superior to the competition, with exceptional smoothness and clarity of high frequencies, and effortless sound at high output levels. Using
the same tweeter as the S-5000THX, S-150THX, S-1C, S-100B, S-125, S-85, and Tripole SS-150THX means the
Bookshelf-75 makes an excellent timbre match in systems that also include these models. The matching LCR-75
and Center-75 center channels speakers also use the same tweeter to make for an ideal timbre match.
Of course, the Bookshelf-75's superior power handling and very smooth response make it an excellent front
channel speaker. For today's most advanced home theater—Dolby Digital AC-3—the Bookshelf-75's size makes it
ideal for use in all five channels!
MAGNETICALLY SHIELDED
All versions of the Bookshelf-75 are magnetically shielded f or use in proximity to tele vision sets. There is no need
to order or stock special versions of the Bookshelf-75 for home-theater installations close to television sets.
