You must connect the wires to the correct terminals.
The red wires must be connected to the appropriate terminals marked L.
The black wires must be connected to the appropriate terminals marked N.
The bare wires (sleeved green/yellow) must be connected to the appropriate earth terminal marked .
Where a mounting box earth terminal is provided, connect a length of green/yellow sleeved wire between this terminal and the earth terminal on the unit.
When neons are fitted, one lead should be connected to ‘L’ and the other to ‘N’. Neon leads are not colour coded as it does not matter which way round they are fitted.
4. Insert the bared ends of the wires into their appropriate terminals and securely tighten both terminal screws (see Fig.1) ensuring all conductors are clamped.
5. Carefully push wired unit back into the mounting box, ensuring cables are not trapped or pinched.
6. Locate and tighten frontplate fixing screws. Do not overtighten screws, to do so may damage frontplate or box threads.
The completed installation should be tested in accordance with the current IEE Wiring Regulations by a qualified electrician.
If in any doubt, contact MK Technical Sales Service Department. Telephone 01268 563720.
C. INSTALLATION
IMPORTANT
Refer to safety instructions before starting work (Section A).
A. Products supplied with a mounting box
i. Separate the lid accessory from the box by
removing the two fixing screws.
ii. Remove appropriate knock-outs from the
box for incoming and outgoing cables as required. It is good practice on metal boxes to fit a grommet where conduit is not used.
iii. Fix box securely to the wall.
B. Products without mounting box
i. Remove frontplate fixing screws from their
location on the back of the frontplate, or from the plastic strip attachment.
ii. Ensure the mounting box is firmly secured to
the wall.
Electrical Connections
1. Strip back LOAD and SUPPLY outer cable sheaths and trim wires to the appropriate length to allow cable ends to reach the terminals.
2. Carefully strip red and black insulation by 20mm (0.8 inches).
3. Slide a length of green/yellow insulating sleeve on to a bare earth wire.
IMPORTANT
SUPPLY cables are those coming from the distribution board. LOAD cables are those going to the appliance.
