1 Introduction
Welcome to the MVR1204 Software Installation Guide. The MVR1204 is a H.264 Mobile Video Recorder. The MVR1204 includes an internal 3G modem to automatically upload recorded video clips to MiX Telematics tracking software. Video events are triggered and controlled by the FM on-board computer and are recorded on an event basis and associated and stored with driver violations and detailed trip information. Customers are able to remotely monitor the vehicle performance and retrospectively download a high resolution video of a specific event or incident.

!
Do not mount the GSM antenna against a metal surface this effects GSM communication. !
Some vehicle types require that the GSM antenna be mounted outside the vehicle cabin. Please
confirm whether this requirement is applicable before installing the GSM antenna.
Shortening of antenna wires:
It would be better to circle/coil excess wires. Avoid sharp bends at the zig/zags. Take care not to tie coax wires too tight. The coax should not be squeezed or pinched. Using the broadest possible cable tie.
The best place to circle/coil the wires is about 300 mm in line from the antenna.
If the GSM and GPS antennas are both coiled, they should be spaced apart.
Do not mount the GSM antenna against a metal surface. This affects GSM reception and
transmission.

Avoid
Recommended
Avoid sharp corners and bends:
Use rounded bends:
Avoid coupling between 2 different pieces of wire:
Separate coiled wires where possible:

3.7 Positioning the Camera in the vehicle
Please Note: Ensure that the windscreen surface is clean and dry before attaching the camera to the windscreen. Use the alcohol swipe in the box to clean the area on the windscreen where the camera will be mounted.
3.7.1 Camera installation in a Truck
Install the camera inside the cab, the camera should be placed against the windscreen. The position of the camera should be one of the following:
1. Place the camera inside against the windscreen in the centre of the windscreen as close to the bottom of the windscreen. If it is not possible to install in the centre, position the camera on the driver side of the centre position.
2. For an optimum view, install the camera behind the path of the windscreen wiper.
3. The camera facing inside should always be higher than the dashboard to provide the best view of the driver and co-driver. Ensure that the camera view facing outside is not blocked by a grid.
4. Ensure that the camera does not block or prevent automatic sun visors to be lowered all the way down to the dashboard.
5. The cable should be routed along a safe path away from high voltage ignition lines sources of mechanical damage etc. Cables should be safely secured.
