All operating instructions must be followed.
5. Cleaning
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet
before cleaning it. Do not use liquid aerosol
cleaners. Use a damp soft cloth for cleaning.
6. Attachments and equipment
Never add any attachments and/or equipment
without the approval of the manufacturer as
such additions may result in the risk of fire,
electric shock or other personal injury.
7. Water and moisture
Do not use this product near water or in
contact with water.
8. Accessories
Do not place this product on an unstable cart,
stand, tripod, bracket or table. Use only with
a cart, stand, tripod bracket, or table recommended by the manufacturer or sold with the
product. Any mounting of the appliance
should follow the manufacturer’s instructions
and should use a mounting accessory recommended by the manufacturer.

This product should be operated only from
the type of power source indicated on the

11. Power-cord protection
Power-supply cords should be routed so that
they are not likely to be walked on or pinched

particular attention to cords at plugs, convenience receptacles, and points where they exit
from the appliance.
12. Overloading
Do not overload wall outlets and extension
cords as this can result in a fire or electric
shock.
13. Objects and liquids
Never push objects of any kind through
openings of this product as they may touch
dangerous voltage points or short-out parts
that could result in a fire or electric shock.
Never spill liquid of any kind on the product.
14. Servicing
Do not attempt to service this product yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified service
personnel.
15. Damage requiring service
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet
and refer servicing to qualified service personnel under the following conditions:
(a) If the power-supply cord or plug is dam-
aged.
(b) If liquid has been spilled, or objects have
fallen into the product.
(c) If the product does not operate normally
after you follow the operating instructions. Adjust only those controls that are
covered by the operating instructions. An
improper adjustment of other controls
may result in damage and may often
require extensive work by a qualified
technician to restore the product to its
normal operation.
(d) If the product has been exposed to rain or
water.
(e) If the product has been dropped or the
cabinet has been damaged.
(f) If the product exhibits a distinct change
in performance - this indicates a need for
service.
16. Replacement parts
When replacement parts are required, be sure
that the service technician has used replacement parts specified by the manufacturer or
parts having the same characteristics as the
original part. Unauthorized substitutions
may result in fire, electric shock or other
hazards.
17. Safety check
Upon completion of any service or repair to
this product, ask the service technician to
perform safety checks determining that the
product is in a safe operating condition.
An appliance and cart combination should be
moved with care. Quick stops, excessive force
and uneven surfaces may cause the appliance
and cart combination to overturn.
9. Ventilation
Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for ventilation, ensuring reliable operation of the product and to protect it from
overheating. Do not block these openings or
allow them to be blocked by placing the
product on a bed, sofa, rug, or bookcase.
Ensure that there is adequate ventilation and
that the manufacturer’s instructions have
been adhered to.

Lamp replacement
• VS-50XL50U, VS-67XL50U
This product is equipped with a lamp to display images generated the DLPTM chip.
The lamp is a consumable. It may burn out or the brightness may decrease during operation. In such
cases, replace the lamp with a new one as soon as possible.
(Blue light blinks on the screen when the lamp doesn’t illuminate any more.)
You may purchase a new lamp from your authorized MITSUBISHI dealer.
Part number for the lamp used in the VS-50XL50U and VS-67XL50U is S-XL50LA
This product uses a lamp that contains mercury. Disposal of the lamp or the product with the lamp may be
regulated due to environmental considerations. For disposal or recycling information, please contact your
local authorities or Electronic Industries Alliance : www.eiae.org. (For US only)
Warning:
• Be sure to turn off the main power switch and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet before
replacing the lamp. Lamp replacement without turning off the main power may result in electric shock.
• Don’t put metal or flammable object into the product. Using the product with any foreign object inside
may result in electric shock or fire. When you can’t remove a foreign object that has entered the
projector, ask your MITSUBISHI dealer for removal.
• Insert the lamp firmly. When the lamp isn’t installed properly, it won’t illuminate. Improper
installation may result in fire.
Caution:
•
The lamp gets very hot during operation. Don’t replace the lamp immediately after operation because
you may get burned or injured. Before replacing the lamp, turn off the power to extinguish the lamp and
wait about one minute for the cooling fan to stop. Then turn off the main power switch, unplug the power
cord from the wall outlet, and wait at least one hour to allow the lamp to cool down enough to the touch.
•Be sure to put gloves on when replacing the lamp.
•
A high-pressure mercury lamp is used as the light source of this product. The high-pressure mercury lamp can
explode or fail to illuminate permanently because of an impact, scratch, or deterioration through use. The
period of time until explosion or permanent failure to illuminate varies considerably from lamp to lamp
depending on operation conditions, etc. Therefore, the lamp may explode soon after you use it for the first time.
• Don’t open the lamp replacement door for purposes other than lamp replacement. Unnecessary opening
of the door may result in a failure.
•When you open the lamp replacement door for the purpose of lamp replacement, don’t touch any parts
inside that are not necessary for lamp replacement because you may get injured or a failure may occur.
•
Don’t open the lamp replacement door during operation. Unnecessary opening of the door may result in a failure.
• Don’t remove screws other than specified. Removal of unspecified screws may result in a failure.

product detects such decrease and switches the lamp to the built-in spare lamp automatically. (This
function is called automatic lamp changer.) While the spare lamp is in use, a mark “ ” blinks on the
screen. (When the spare lamp burns out, a blue light blinks on the screen and “1.” is displayed on the status
display on the rear terminal panel.) When the spare lamp burns out, contact your MITSUBISHI dealer for
replacement of the lamp and the adjustments for ensuring the same level of image quality as that before
lamp replacement (such as the screen frame adjustment, CSC adjustment, and gradation adjustment).
Do not attempt to replace the lamp and carry out the adjustments by yourself.

5. Insert a new lamp into the lamp
storage to the end.
•Do not touch the glass envelope of the lamp
with your fingers. The oil on your fingers
may cause damage or explosion of the lamp.
• Be sure to grip the handle with one hand
and hold the lamp with the other hand to
insert it safely. Be careful not to pinch your
hand in the lamp storage.
6. Tighten the two lamp fixing screws.
7. Close the lamp replacement door.
8. Carry out the adjustments after
replacement of the lamp.
You can display images after replacing the
lamp. However, the following adjustments are
required to enjoy the equivalent image quality
to that offered before the replacement of the
lamp. Please contact your MITSUBISHI
dealer for the following adjustments. Do not
attempt to carry out the adjustments by
yourself.
• Picture outline adjustment
• CSC adjustment
• Gradation adjustment
Lamp replacement (Only followed models : VS-50XL50U, VS-67XL50U)
1. Turn off the main power switch and
unplug the power cord from the wall
outlet.
Wait at least one hour for the lamp to cool
down.
2. Hold the handles by the fingers and
pull the lamp replacement door open.
3. Loosen the two lamp fixing screws.
4. Hold the handle and pull out the
lamp.
• Be sure to grip the handle with one hand
and hold the lamp with the other hand to
pull it out safely.
• Do not touch the glass envelope of the lamp.
It may cause burns.

Troubleshooting
Please check the following before contacting your dealer for service. Errors in signals are apt to be taken for problems in the product.

• Check the power cord is connected firmly.
• Check the correct input signals are selected for the terminals of the external devices.
• Check the external devices are connected to the terminals firmly.
• Check the external devices are turned on.
